If people want to Entertain that Question that is Fine with Me .. But as For Me I have done my Home Work, Scripture and D&C Deep Dive Study and Joseph Smith History and PRAYERS and I am in the "100% Certain that Brigham Young was Chosen and Accepted by Jesus Christ Himself to be the Successor to Joseph Smith" .. Camp !!! .. and Humble to be a Member on that Level
There was also Sylvester Q. Cannon who was ordained an apostle about a year or two before then being set apart as a member of the Quorum of the Twelve.
There is a precise reason why it's entrance to the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles that is the thing that sets one on the path to becoming the President of the Church. It's for the funny reason that you don't need to be an apostle to be in the First Presidency; you only need to be a high priest. So being ordained an apostle is not the thing that sets you on that path. Of course, in another way you will absolutely hold the ordination of apostle if you become the President but you will have only gotten there if you rose through the ranks of the Quorum of the Twelve.
You guys are really making this more complicated then it is. God told Joseph Smith Jr. in D and C 28 that only one person is chosen to receive revelation and prophecy for the Church, and also that someone would be appointed to succeed Joseph Smith Jr. In D and C 43 God tells Joseph Smith Jr. that if he fell away he would only have power to call his replacement, Joseph Smith Jr. stayed the Prophet until his death, so he didn't fall away. And in D and C 107 God tells Joseph Smith Jr. that the 12 Apostles or a majority choose the successor to the President of the Church, and they chose Brigham Young, who happened to be the President of the 12 Apostles. In the Bible we don't get any examples of Priesthood succession, except for Joshua. When Joshua is first mentioned he is a captain of Israel. When Moses's father-in-law advises Moses to call 70 righteous men to be Judges, Priests, Elders and Prophets, Joshua is one of them, and is the one chosen to go with Moses to get the first set of stone tablets. After many deaths because of rebellions we find Joshua and Caleb among the 12 Princes of Israel sent to spy out the Land of Promise. Later Joshua is called to replace Aaron, and then Moses. After Joshua has been called as the Prophet to lead Israel, a list of the 12 Princes is given, in which Caleb is still one, but Joshua has been replaced. You could argue that this doesn't prove wether Joshua or Caleb was the President of the 12 Princes of Israel, but with all the extra duties Joshua took on it is more than likely.

Doesn't matter cause Nelson is delusional and the church is beginning to collapse.
We’ll see how well that comment ages.
