There wasn’t a ladder from the cliff down to the ocean haha and plus the salt water is probably worse for the snare then normal water. 😂🤷🏻♂️

The salt would've permanently damaged the snare plus it would've made it even heavier, further deadening the sound.

For those who haven't figured it out, a snare with enough water will act like a snare drum with the snare wires down. This is because the water absorbs the vibration of the lower diaphragm and therefore the snare wires won't hit the bottom diaphragm as hard. Too much water, though, is like what he said, a practice pad, because the top diaphragm will be bouncy like a water balloon.

It might be interesting to fill it with different gasses like Helium or Sulfur Hexafluoride to see if it makes a higher or lower sound.
