- On May 22nd, 2024, I wondered if Block Tales could be beaten without blocking, the core defensive mechanic of the game.
And so, I embarked on a challenge run to answer the question...can you beat Block Tales without blocking?

Because of the recent patch notes, I'll have to redo Chapter 1 as well as do Chapter 2 and The Pit in one video.

There's another bux in the iron cafe that you missed, its in the corner with the ladder by the stacked tables near the drink dispensers.
Fun fact, you can use sacrifice when there’s no one in your party to skip your turn and give you SP for it
It’s kind of dumb but hey, it’s something that you can do.
Same thing happens if you use an item that restores HP/SP while at full HP/SP
the fact that there is ONE enemy that i have lost to which was banished knight on hardmode is something to say the least

Just block em and don't forget to use safeguard pretty sure it's vital for hardmode

if you ever need all badges in order to get the 100% completion i'm going to be stuck at 99.99% just because of that badge. i am NOT hurting jim.

would recommend watching any% for any boss strats
using bombs are VERY important, also apple pie!

I actually played the entire game with hard-core on and I’m currently doing the pit and funny enough, I’m not even using defender. The pain is unimaginable

I would say, they should add a badge when you beat the game without blocking once on like any final boss like either Griefer or either Cruel King (the ice king)

I beat the cruel king by banking on a freeze from a snowball and used pie and dynamite while my friend spammed bombs

Solo without blocking is like playing old Minecraft without shield, you go for it by finding out the enemy strategic or attack pattern and then outskill them
Btw can you make video about boss and their weakness? (beside blocking).
For example : Sentient Statue is Glue, Supreme Ant is Fire Effect and more.
I remember trying to beat cruel king with like 2 other people in a party. It was so hard because one of us had the hard mode card and it took us like 20 mins to beat him
I kept laughing my ass of because the guy that had hard mode and the ice dagger kept dying and I kept having to revive him

Your next challenge run should be, beating Ch. 1 (this is optional but ch. 2 as well) on Hard Mode+ (hard mode, gusto, all the other extra hard mode cards.)

Almost all boss in demo 2 is possible with no blocking
Not Supreme Mosquito bcs how pain she can deal with us, with 2 def
And yeah, with the fact that Defend change to Pass in Second Turn, CK have static AI, Bomb has Friendly Fire DMG, and a lot of other thing, this is still doable without blocking

Now try it with just dynamite, and use cards that remove ball and sword too. You can use dynamite and also counter attacks as ur first form of damage
Jim actually gives you a good item, the whole pizza, which restores 10 health if I’m correct. so killing him will only give you the achievement
it no restore you to 10 hp

Now get the ‘Stylish’ achievement while doing this challenge
The game has gotten so popular though there aren't any animations yet

this is basically hard mode with extra steps (now do hard mode without defending)

i wanna know, how do you use ice dagger and get SE or NRG?
also how do you get different animations
You get SE from focusing (in the strategy menu in battle) or passively. once the bar fills up that means you have an NRG
animations are effected by your menu flavor
Sword Energy (SE as you say) and NRG mean the same thing. After beating Chapter 1, you gain the Ice Dagger and the ability to get up to 1 NRG in-battle.
The exact amounts of NRG you get are:
0.5 for focusing
0.2 per each enemy attack
This means if you are fighting 3 or 4 enemies, they will fill up your NRG by simply attacking twice, which is useful for Floor 19.
For venomshank, you need to beat the bubonic plant, when you get the venomshank you have 2 bars of NRG.

i'd try checking out thorns, basically a superguard without having to superguard (deals 1 dmg to enemies melee attacking u i think)

Quick question: why are all the enemies i fight blocking all of my hits no matter what i use? Like the only way i can deal damage to enemies is by hitting that second ball attack or using dynamite
what cards are you using? it might be because you have a card that decreases attack or the enemies youre up against have defense which can be bypassed if you use sword
this is gonna be like 5x harder cuz of the new update
I beat it without blocking because i didn't know there was a block
you can skip most of the castle fights using a glitch (including statue)
i wish i found out about this before making my beating block tales without attacking video as it would of saved me a lot of effort
fun fact: they are gonna nerf pie in demo 2 so maybe you CAN use it and not feel like a cheater then.

Yes. But 4 statues takes some VERY specific badges. Biggest help is guard+ but defender and defend+ are good too, but more expensive
