- I couldn't let 2022 leave without this tribute to the person and talent of Irene Cara. if she had wanted, she could have been one of the defining superstars of her generation. This song is one of my all-time Top 5 favorites as evidenced that this is the third video and second remix I have done of this song. This version differs from others with it's nod to the 1960s girl group rhythms and with a couple of other new elements as well. I hope you enjoy this new version and tribute. Happy 2023 to all. RIP Ms. Irene Cara.

Irene Cara never achieved the commercial success she deserved- several bad management and recording deals left her tied up in litigation for years and her career stalled. This classic has so many memories for me of Summer 1983- it seems like only yesterday. So glad this song has lived on and became a firm favourite on the "oldies" stations. You have done a terrific job here!
I’m still in shock that she’s gone. She should have been way more famous and popular than she was. Her songs define a magical time in music.

You continue to innovate. I wish this song had been recorded with an orchestra, rather than these now-dated shallow synths. It shows up most blatantly when I listen to my "The Casablanca Story" CDs. What A Feeling comes before Last Dance, and the sound contrast between the two is night and day.

Are you related to Shep Pettibone? These aren't just remixes, they are loving reconstructions of the original tracks; harnessing the essential elements and reimagining them in a creative and respectful manner. These are tributes to the songs you have chosen. I thought this intro was superb, but your choice of ending, that deserves a standing ovation. I wasn't even watching the video, had to go back and hear it again and again. Could totally see that being a cold out at the end of an 80's nightclub scene!

My passion is collecting the 12" singles of the music I loved growing up and would spin as a DJ - on my high school radio station then as a mobile jock, along with some limited club work. I moved on into other professions in the '00s but still have the love of the music! Occasionally I dabble in an "audience of one" session on my MixTrack Platinum after catching a muse, or bit of a song that sparks a nice segued beat mix. Your work has certainly inspired me to take a deeper dive into some of those lost tunes and B-Side mixes that were previously overlooked!

The editing (both audio and video) on this is amazing! What a lot of work this must have been. Something that I’ve never found anywhere is any mixes of this song that reflect the opening mix and/or audition scene mix from the actual movie. It would be nice to have those same vocals, instrumentals, edits and strong percussions without the sound effects (i.e. nose blowing, clapping, machinery, etc.). You should think about doing that. It’d be awesome! Magnificent work on this, though, and Irene Cara was a great talent!

I'm currently writing the book blurb for the cover, always the hardest thing to write because of how little space you have to say something captivating yet short for the reader. The book and bibliography are completely finished. I can not include every performance because some are just too difficult to find and confirm the date. This was a very emotional book for me to write about personally and I hope I told her story like she would have wanted.

1:11-1:25 is 'probably' SOLID GOLD but what was the exact date?
1:28-1:42 is SOLID GOLD but what is the exact date?
2:56-3:07 is in France I believe but what is the exact date?
3:19-3:25 is in Germany I believe but what is the exact date?
I know where the rest of the performances are from I believe. I appreciate any help since a lot of her performances are not in the public domain.
