Hey Everyone! Thanks for watching! So there was a slight misplay in gaining life from someone else's draw trigger while she was actively out. It happens. We don't have a judge on set nor would we want to. We are there to show a casual game amongst friends and provide entertainment. Often we are filming 4-5 back to back games so with performing and casually having fun sometimes these things slip. We hope this small thing doesn't ruin your viewing experience! Enjoy everyone :)
not at all! If anything it adds to the authenticity of a commander game because misplays happen IRL ALLLLLLL the time #NormalizeTheMisplay #LotsOfTriggers
1,000% agree. I've been exposed to so many magic channels I probably would have never clicked on specifically because The Professor is in the thumbnail because, as you said, you KNOW it's gonna be great when he's there.
Holy crap what a pod this is. Prof and Rebell are always amazing. Not seen Ron before but she is a great addition to the MtG community, I hope to see a lot more of her in these youtube games. And damn Joe, this show came so far this year in terms of production and style.
Appreciate you taking that journey with us! We have come a long way since January! The channel is almost a year old but we have learned a lot and it’s mostly because of great fans like yourself! Appreciate the love and support! 😊
51:00 The redirect changes the targets of a spell, but it shouldn’t move it to the top of the stack though. Sheoldred shouldn’t have died until after the cards were drawn from the memory jar
wouldn't have effected the results of the game to be fair, the only relevent change would have been that rebel would have won faster without prof alive to counter her commander.
It's hilarious to see the prof actually curse without having his face show up and censor his own mouth. Love the casual vibe, you guys look like you're having a blast :)
Won't that misdirectin/deadly rolick play still allow the memory jar activation to kill Professor? Because, in my understanding, it doesn't change the stack order, just redirects its target, so Memory Jar resolves (killing Prof) and then Crystaline sliver>deadly rolick with normal target without misdirection because Prof is already dead.
That would be correct. Something I've learned in 21 years of playing Magic and almost two years of watching these online Commander games on different channels is that "Mistakes will be made." We don't always catch them in time. I've noticed a few other misplays in this game as well. Annoying to see, yes, but nobody's perfect.
The misdirection would resolve, changing the target Og deadly rollick, then memory jar would kill professor, but I still think the deadly rollick would be targeting Sheoldred, as the effect that the professor controlled has fully resolved before he died. But yeah, the stack ordering can be confusing sometimes.
Harmonic Sliver rulings: 2013-07-01: Abilities that Slivers grant, as well as power/toughness boosts, are cumulative. However, for some abilities, like flying, having more than one instance of the ability doesn’t provide any additional benefit. 2013-07-01: If the creature type of a Sliver changes so it’s no longer a Sliver, it will no longer be affected by its own ability. Its ability will continue to affect other Sliver creatures. 2021-03-19: The ability Harmonic Sliver grants itself triggers when it enters the battlefield. 2021-03-19: The controller of the Sliver that enters the battlefield controls the triggered ability for that Sliver and chooses what to destroy, not necessarily the controller of Harmonic Sliver.
The thing I noticed in the episode was the stack was misplayed. when memory jar was activated and then prof changed the target of deadly rollick, So profs spell resolves changing the deadly rollick target to sheoldred, then memory jar activation would resolve with everyone pitching their hand and drawing 7 cards. sheoldred would still be there since deadly rollick hasn't resolved yet so he would have gained 14 and everyone else lost 14 life so prof would be dead. Then deadly rollick would have resolved killing sheoldred.
So correct me if I'm wrong but changing the target of a spell on the stack doesn't make the targeted spell resolve next correct? So when deadly rollick had it's target changed memory jar should resolve before Sheoldred dies, correct?
At 26:24, how did Rebel flash in her Manaweft Sliver? She only had one available mana and didn’t have any ability to let her tap the Heart Sliver before the Manaweft Sliver hit the table.
She did misplay it, but she would have had enough to cast both the Manaweft and the Overlord if she had done it the other way around. Considering she’s been drinking the whole game, I think it’s ok to let it slide.
Rebell - "Prof, What you got in that Bag?" Prof - "My decks." rebell - "I'll play Slivers" Prof - "Wait, was going to play that one" Too funny right there
They would have kept the new seven in hand during Rebells turn because memory jar was activated during proffs endstep. Memory jar says next end step and if is activated during an endstep will wait until the NEXT endstep.
Yeah, technically the prof still died because misdirection doesn't change the resolution of the stack just the target, but they important thing is they had fun
I have a Sheoldred deck and indeed it does paint a target on you. I don’t run Lich’s Mastery because too many people I play with run Cyclonic Rift, but I forgot about that Jewel.
55:21 Someone please explain how Delay would affect Sliver Overlord if Crystalline Sliver is on the field? I thought that Shroud made them unaffected by targeting spells and abilities. Am I dumb or does Sliver Overlord not get shroud since its technically not on the field yet?
When resolving the Big oll memory jar deadly rollick stack with misdirection does the deadly rollick still resolve at its initial location on the stack, meaning sheoldred wont disappear until after the memory jar resolves?
I was looking for this comment. I'm pretty sure you're right. Memory Jar would still resolve first, before Deadly Rollick. Slight misplay, but whatever. Misplays are a staple of great casual commander games!
Rules question: I think that misdirection only changes the target, and the rollick still doesnt resolve and exile Sheoldred until after the memory jar resolves, right? So everyone still takes the damage?
Yeah we had a few misplays during this one but overall we had fun! I might have to start bringing a judge to make sure the plays are on point because we are always having too much fun! Thanks for watching y’all!
@@barryk3088 yeah that happens, I was just wondering specifically how that stack would play out, just for my own knowledge cuz i do have 2 target-changers in one of my decks

Well, Rebell did not take advantage of the misplay. I have no doubt that deck can tutor for its win cons using overlord and she could have done it that turn
My birth language isn't english so I don't really understand what Ron say about the way that the combo Lulu/Far traveler work. But isn't Lulu a trigger ability that doesn't even trigger if nothing left the board before the begining of end step ? Even if we resolve Far traveler before Lulu ? Just to know Anyway, this was a great game
After the Crystalline came 🤔 and Undress would sac end step, the harmonic should be search rather ther Virulent but when that poison and shifting sliver is there just needed 10 sliver for Joe even if he has 40 plus life 😅 or get Constricting Sliver to exile each creature 🤣
Why was the Joseph gaining life when his opponents drew cards? Also, the Professor's counter to the Damnation was not a good decision. Neither the decision of the Sliver player to destroy the Treasure instead of Ghostly Prison or the lady's decision to attack Joseph only because he had more life without taking in consideration the actual board state.
Not only was Joe gaining life (which I wanted to keep at bay), but I needed to turn cards sideways for my triggers to pay off, so I wanted to swing where I knew damage would safely go through so I could flicker the cards. Everyone else had bigger blockers. Besides, I’m still super knew to magic, which I did say early on in the video.
Also the error of Joe’s life gain was not only addressed in these comments several times, but there is also a pinned comment from Tabletop Jocks acknowledging this misplay. The card was only in preview at the time this was filmed and none of us realized the error during gameplay, which was fine. We are not playing competitively here, we are among friends.
I don’t think rebel should have gotten 2 activations when swords hit the overlord.. One on the stack then swords hit with a second one activated.. The second activation goes off then the swords hits so the first shouldn’t happen.. Am I wrong?
The game doesn’t check if overlord needs to be on the battlefield or not as long as the activated ability is on the stack. It just sees that there’s an overlord activation, then swords, then another overlord activation on the bottom. See rule 602, “Activating Activated Abilities.” 112.7a Once activated or triggered, an ability exists on the stack independently of its source. Destruction or removal of the source after that time won't affect the ability.
Her ability is really good. Black limits it a bit because there’s only one true wheel in Black. If she was like Rakdos or something she’d be so broken 😂
Did anyone else notice Joe gain life from Sheoldred's draining effect? I'm pretty sure he shouldn't have been gaining so much life. Fun game tho, just trying to correct that sheoldred only gives life when the owner draws, not opponents.
I feel your pain joe on the sheoldred, I had 6 commander tax on her last night early in the game, they just kept teaming up on me and killing her, she’s super fun but you instantly become the number 1 target lol I guess it doesn’t help turn 1 having her out 😬

I don’t think rebel should have gotten 2 activations when swords hit the overlord.. One on the stack then swords hit with a second one activated.. The second activation goes off then the swords hits so the first shouldn’t happen.. Am I wrong?
Youre exactly correct, they usually just have some fun and dont take it super seriously. But I noticed it as well.

I feel your pain joe on the sheoldred, I had 6 commander tax on her last night early in the game, they just kept teaming up on me and killing her, she’s super fun but you instantly become the number 1 target lol I guess it doesn’t help turn 1 having her out 😬
