Gabe, I love this type of detail that you and Ted go through on each play that you show. Appreciate it and always look forward to seeing the next In the Weeds episode.
Thank you so much for doing this, I was definitely wanting to know what concepts Arbuckle runs. I like that he adapts to the personnel that he has instead of trying to fit a square peg in a round hole.
I'm stoked...cautiously. WSU hasn't really played many decent defenses so their stats should be viewed through a skeptic's lens. SEC D is a whole new animal, as we've seen.
I'm optimistic that we have the OC we need but your play breakdowns really showcased why our year was so disastrous. He had receivers @ WSU that were available to play and were actual threats to catch the ball. Makes a big difference to the plays execution and results as your breakdown showed. This is the first piece of the puzzle IMO, next we need some players that can execute and who are available to play.
Trying to score down 17-45 21 secs left is how it should be. Among other disappointments it hit me wrong when OU didnt try to tack on score late vs LSU.
@@freddyboss7 agree. Considering we have the hardest schedule in the country (Michigan, Texas, LSU, Bama, Ole Miss, Tennessee, S Carolina, Mizzou, Auburn) 8-4 wouldn’t be horrible. I mean out of the 9 teams listed I wouldn’t be surprised if any of them made the playoffs they all have potential to be elite except maybe Mizzou and probably not Auburn. 9 wins with that schedule gets you in the playoffs imo
I absolutely love his play style and calling and from what I take on another page a guy said that he's really good friends with #10 QB J.M. and he's said he's coming with Arbuckle to Oklahoma take it for what it is but it he seems pretty legit
The double fake swing TE delay had TE pre snap motion too making the defense communicate. 6 o lineman on the goal line too yes please. I knew Gabe would be hype for that when rewatching this game lolol.
Some of his schemes remind me of what Sark does with his receivers, hope he can adjust to exploit defensive schemes and making 2nd half adjustments... That's been a struggle of ours for a while

The schemes are great, but what I’m seeing is that quarterback with defenders in his face, standing tall and hitting his receivers like they are playing catch. Imagine if that kid hits the portal to follow his coach?
Teddy could absolutely have been on here. I’ve personally seen him try and talk while muted a few times and now we know he can draw. Kidding of course! Love the video
Assuming Mateer is a package deal, things do get very interesting. Going to have to win a bidding war but having a QB with some history right off the bat would help that transition.
Mike leech did ok at Miss State. had some games they got ran over. i just hope they have a decent run game. felt like everyone had a guys that could get after the quarterback.
Not only will the new coach be evaluated by wins and losses. It is most important that he can develop schemes that are different on a weekly basis to attack SEC defenses, and this film proves that he can also most importantly, he has shown the ability which Lincoln Riley possess at a high-level, he is a great player designer
On play #3. We never have those plays because as soon as Jackson Arnold sees a guy coming at him he goes into scramble mode. He doesn't stay calm and look for the guy who's supposed to be open. We've had a few play like this with guy open in the middle of the field but didn't get the ball because JA was scrambling around.
BV has to give Arbuckle full control of who starts (best players available regardless of if they're or not). He has no loyalty to anyone and is completely unbiased in selecting who starts. If he forces him to continue to play mediocre upperclassmen out of loyalty, OU will be in the same slump and will be looking for a new head coach Dec. 2025
Of course not.nothing you see on Washington state offebse this year means anything in sec.youre not outcoaching anyone in sec. It's about players and we don't have them
What’s funny is we wouldn’t need an OC if Arnold could make those same throws as seen in this video. Landry Jones wasn’t as flashy as Jackson Arnold but he was very accurate in every game. Arnold is the 5 Star bust of the century. He couldn’t hit anybody with consistency during the season but dang sure looked great with a blue jersey in spring practice knowing his body won’t get hit. He’s an OC killer dancing in the pocket. We had bad line play but he would dance on every drop back no matter.
I’ve watched this kid play for a couple of weeks. He plays a lot like Baker. Not the highest star but a worker and from Texas. Would be great to have him too.
