In this video, we take a closer look at the brand new Digiface AES from RME, a 30-channel Bus-powered USB audio interface with a range of digital connectivity.
The RME Digiface AES is a professional 14 input and 16 output channel USB 2.0 interface with 2 x Mic/Line analogue input channels and 4 x analogue output channels (2 XLR, one TRS phones) to complement its digital I/O section.
With an excellent set of digital connectivity, SteadyClock FS, full stand-alone operation and built-in parametric EQ, the Digiface AES shines as the perfect all-in-one solution for recording and playback of digital and analogue sources, as well as flexible playback/monitoring via TotalMix FX.

I wish their Madi solution included AES connectivity for under $4k… They are proud of this AES.. when most the I/o is adat
I am using the Babyface Pro for an AES/EBU interface using SPDIF and a converter from Studio Spares. It seems a bit expensive considering it can be done on a Babyface Pro FS
Seems like a niche product. Other than not being bus powered and having to use a breakout cable, doesn't the UCX II do all this and more for less $$? I guess I'm not the target consumer for this unit.
I was thinking the same thing until the voiceover said that it "was designed at the request of a large German broadcaster". I guess RME figured that if they're going to do all the R&D for this unit then they might as well put it on the open market.
Yeah, everyone has been wondering the same!
What would be the best choice? And for what situations fits better? I can't realize why seems this cost more than the "fireface ucx ii" for less capabilities ?
What is the dymamic range of the inputs. Note: can't find this in the manual.
Can it playback Digital and Analogue simultaneously?
Yes, you can route any of the analogue and digital inputs to any physical output in its own submix for monitoring.
Hope this helps!
Does it have the convertor from the ADI ?
When can someone make an affordable Dolby Atmos interface with monitor control.
Would appreciate a detailed comparison between "fireface ucx ii vs digiface aes" , is confusing the price difference
Hi Andrés, the Fireface UCX II is still the better option for most applications. As mentioned in the video, the Digiface AES was built to spec for a broadcast company, so studio and live sound engineers were never really the intended audience.
I believe the main reason for the price difference is the inclusion of on-board SRC (with real-time sample rate conversion and clock decoupling), which is a fairly unique feature mainly required for broadcast.
@@SynthaxAudioUK thank you!, I appreciate your craft! Regards
does the totalmix of digiface aes supports dynamic control?
Unfortunately not - TotalMix FX only offers EQ with the Digiface AES.
Hope this helps!
What is the dynamic range of the inputs?????????????????
