Before: 2.25" pipes, catalytic converters, stock resonator, no mufflers with 3.5" rolled angled tips.
After: 2.5" 304 Stainless Steel pipes, no catalytic converters, o2 sensors are still on with defoulers, X-pipe, Flowmaster Outlaw mufflers with 4" double wall tips
It's super loud, raspy and wild. I need to put a resonator/muffler behind the X-pipe because this is just too much.
I if I had to choose I’d probably stick with my northstar V8 but for what it is with the v6 I honestly think there’s absolutely no possible way you could make it sound any better so props to you. If anyone hates on it don’t let it get to ya because what really matters is what makes YOU happy not them.

You can get the 08-13 CTS V6 K&N cold air intake since the engine in your 09 STS is the same.

Hey man I have an STS with the 3.6 with no cats and mufflers, but I really recommend you to put a TOTALFLOW bullet muffler to give it a deeper sound so it won’t make the rattling noise.
can you teach me more about this because I just bought a STS and I wanna do what this man did but with that deeper sound you’re talking about.

@@universe2751 I Put high flow cats, did not remove the resonator, I removed the stock mufflers and put TOTALFLOW 644 mini bullet mufflers 409SS from Amazon.
Quick question how much did they charge to remove your cats ?
@@gageescobar4865 well it depends on the exhaust shop that you go to, the one I went to charged me 65$
Now that you don’t have cats, try putting it on manual mode and keep it around 2500 rpms and stab the accelerator once. It’ll do the biggest pops ever, I have the same car and I’ve heard it throws some big flames, just haven’t been able to see them myself

I did it at a shop. It's your best bet to have a long lasting, good looking and good sounding exhaust

Cold Air Intake and Exhaust are the easiest ways to get more power.
MACE Engineering makes performance parts for the LY7 engine like intake manifold insulators and camshafts. It's crazy

Where did you get your new exhaust?
I didnt ever realize the sts came with the 3.6v6 I figured it only had the 4.6 northstar

Oh I know the 3.6 is good I have it in my 2012 impala with a trifecta tune and custom true dual exhaust from the downpipes back. I know they will hold there on with some v8s. But I'd still rather have that v8 rumble.
I cut mine exactly where you did and the shops are saying they can't weld it its too close in the motor

In the beginning I did only a muffler delete but in this video I did the straight pipe setup.

I heard you can use the CTS-V cat back exhaust on these and they supposedly sound killer
Same chassis and very similar parts so I see why not they would bolt right on.
Catback is the way to go if you don't wanna wait and deal with custom bends/welds and stuff.

No but the car runs rich and I have to use fuel injector cleaner every other oil change to keep things clean

It'll gain a bit more power for sure. Just know you're gonna probably use more gas a little bit and gotta maintain the engine make sure everything runs clean and healthy
@@some_thicc_sedan what about if I cut it where the cats are and run it completely open without welding a pipe in the place do you think I could do that for a week or so? Without it throwing it into limp mode it would basically just be dumped where the cats are
Wanted to change the grill to mesh on the 09 but can not find one ??
08-11 STS have bigger and different shaped grilles. There's mesh grilles for those years on ebay, Facebook Marketplace and OfferUp.
if you want the 05-07 mesh grille you need an 05-07 front bumper

How much those pipes cost and what are they? Just grabbed an 06 sts.
$760 for the entire setup and it's all custom. 304 Stainless steel pipes

Car ended up falling through clunk in rear end. Think it was rear differential bushing. Oh well search goes on. Maybe Mercedes c550 or g35 coupe. Good luck man.

An exhaust will help with the power. Perhaps a little bit of interior weight reduction.

Nah I like the extra power and no more of that annoying ticking sound when driving slowly, they were gonna be bad anyway.
I'll drive with this setup for 1000 miles to see if the sound improves, only did 300 so far
