I’d rather this than her be abusive, but she does need to work on properly discipling her son because his behavior is only going to get worse. You don’t need to beat or scream at your kids to teach them properly. But you shouldn’t just let them do whatever either.

And what did he think being a dad was going to be? She may have a lot to learn as a parent, but she is putting in the effort and trying her best. He just dismisses the kids and chooses not to do anything. Reality check even when you are the sole provider parenting doesn't end just because you work full time. They both need to learn and grow as parents not just lilly.

Something my mother used to say to me before i started really disciplining my kids is. "Of course you love your children. But you also have to discipline them, or else when they grow up, it'll be way too late, and they won't listen or respect you." And in some cases, raise their hand to you, i.e. hit you.

@@christengardner1466It’s still gentle but it’s firm. Come pick up these chips you dumped all over the floor. Natural consequences. And explaining things to your kids. To see another is to teach another. Kids have to be taught to know there’s a time and place and that my feelings and actions are MY responsibility. It’s so complex but it’s not wrong. You don’t be firm and gentle but be permissive they won’t listen to anything you say by the time they hit their middle school years.

Spare the rod spoil the child. A lot of people think that means physical punishment… it means punishment period there are consequences for negative actions.. children need to learn that at a young age or they’re being set up for failure. Especially the little boy he’s going to grow up and be perceived as a black man, self control needs to be taught for his protection. And yes I am a black woman raising a multicultural child.

honestly the girl and here moms parenting should both be critiqued.
The daughter is raising her kids gently like they are here siblings or like they are best friends. The daughter said that here mother is her best friend. That's not right.
You as a mom are not there to be on the same level as your kids, you are above and beyond them. Your job is not to be al buddy buddy, but to actually parent and raise them so they grow up to be decent humans.
By raising them so gently, you are just going to teach then that they can boss you around. As they grow up, they will keep doing what they want.
That is probably why the daughter got pregnant so young, because she was raised to be friends with her mother and to feel like she had control over her mom, so she could do whatever she wanted.

How much of that is personality though? My daughter was born just naturally very compliant and “easy”. I don’t think she ever had a single tantrum. I never had to discipline her very much and it was gentle parenting all the way. Now many years later I have a son and he is wild and crazy. Tantrums every day. With him I do discipline him and I parent him completely different (MORE discipline) but you would never tell if you compared kids. But that is because their personalities are different.

watching this and reading these comments is why i think people should date in their own race... pretty sure, the dad doesn't have the patience to deal with their son because he lacks discipline. his mom literally lets him do whatever he wants, he doesn't listen/follow directions, and he's disrespectful. both parents have to be on board with "gentle parenting". and in most cases, there's no "gentle parenting" in black households. so i can understand his fustration with their son. heck, even her mom thinks their kids are out of control and doesn't agree with her style of parenting.

or people could just learn how to properly raise kids. authoritarian parenting is just as big a flop as permissive. they both make adults with lots and lots of issues.

Kids need routine they need consequences for actions they need to be corrected you can't just let your kids do whatever you want or they're going to make your life miserable she clearly doesn't care what her mom thinks if she became apparent at 16 years old this is so scripted😂

@bdsm-w9u So you're triggered bc you are also not husband material and probably a bad father too and are therefore feeling personally attacked by my true statement? You can always spot the silly misogynistic males when they use the term feminist as an insult. Of course I think women should have the same rights as men. Only really shitty people think otherwise. It's ironic that you are yelling boo hope at me when it's you who are emotional here.. clearly upset by my words. 😆😆😆Go get a snack little dude, you'll feel better.
