  • Only had my phone with me this time so apologies.
New equipment incoming - but got a bit of footage of my new PB Bull Huss.
It appears my conversion sold myself a little short - 5.68kg is 12.5lbs
NOT 12lb 5oz as I read the conversion - Huss was actually 12lb 8oz so without a shadow my new PB
Huge tides, massive swell and heavy wind made things interesting!
Buzzing to have beat my previous shore PB after 6 years on a day that did not look promising from early signs that day.
Just shows, the next bite can change everything!
Thanks for watching - in 3 days ill be boat fishing mid channel targeting Spurs, Huss and Eels.
    Stay tuned !

Huge spring tide, was a bit of a struggle holding for most of it but
Had a bit of luck on my side, pleased to see a good result.

Good action. Coming down to Ilfracombe in August and bringing lrf gear with me. If you do lrf fishing, it would be good if you could do a video with some pointers for the area please. Tight lines.

      Hi Jason
Yes, do a fair bit of Lrf
Plenty of vids coming up as I get out each time - I'll pop an Lrf one up very soon 😊

Looking at the tide hitting the wall and you climbing onto the wall pulling up a large fish on your own with no one holding your back had me worried. Nice fishing in awkward conditions with a beautiful huss. Nice vid.

      Thanks !
Like a lot of my fishing gear, they are old and have their own story (bit like me too! )
Rods are two custom built models from the mid 90s
Blue/green rod is a "Deep Water Express"
Brown rod is a "Phazer" and a beefed up version of the DWE
Both built on famous "Century" blanks, fitted and finished by Chris Wilson from "The Tackle Box" Ilfracombe in the 90s
I purchased them about 12 years ago as they were about to be auctioned off to who knows where on Ebay in an estate sale.
They were built originally for a lovely gent called Nick Perrin, who sadly passed away in a tragic accident on Ilfracombe Pier.
Nick was an avid angler (and photographer)- and as a kid we would drool over these custom rods, they made all other rods look bad compared
to these beautifully finished and hugely powerful things.
Nick would entertain us young fishermen, always had time for questions to improve our skills.
Top fella and loved fishing in Ilfracombe about as much as a guy could.
Hence I bought these rods when I saw them.
They will stay fishing in Ilfracombe for as long as I am around, I like to think they bring me luck - and it seems they do!
      Reels are:
      Quantum Cabo 120PT
      Diawa BG 8000
I dont have any stories about those, I just paid money for them on a website.
      See, boring isnt it :D
40lb 8 strand Braid into 80lb shockleader (on the heavy rod - braid straight through on the other)
      8oz and 10oz leads tonight
      Normally use 7oz
Bait - 90% of my sessions ill only have squid and mackerel/herring
nearly every fish in the BC will take one of those, and ill use livebait if possible when i get one.
Ill use harbour ragworm but only on small species or flatfish and i hardly ever go for flatties.

      Hey John
I did in fact make an error in weighing - I sold myself short :D
      5.68kg = 5680g = 200.35oz
all convert to 12lb 8oz and 3 dram on everything ive used and even the scales when l remembered how to switch them back to LB & OZ !!
(I always forget that when i most need to do it)
It had held the last weight in the scales memory and showed 12lb 8oz
Is there another conversion for over 12 and a half pounds im missing?
      Paul

Matt you seem to drop a lot of negative comments on fishing videos. Just wondering why.
