The sad thing was that Ferrybridge C would have closed years earlier if the site was still run by the Central Electricity Generating Board (C.E.G.B.). The life span of a station was designed to be 30 years tops. What would have happened if still managed by the C.E.G.B. is that they would have built the next generation 900mw or 1250mw units on the site. It would have used local coal burnt with corner firing or with fluidised bed technology and whatever firing arrangement that would have used. But it was not to be the case. All sadly gone.
I worked on the design of the Boilers for this station plus much of the auxiliary equipment, Babcock did a great job on the boilers, and from memory the Turbines were C. A. Parsons. Weir supplied the main boiler feed pumps. what a great tragedy that it is no more having been demolished along with many other fine stations, that currently could meet our power requirements if converted to co generation . using LNG plus coal. But no we have greedy nerds in charge who could not care less about the public need, for in expensive energy let alone industry , well whats left of it having been pawned off to others at a pittance of the true worth, Not forgetting all the labour force, and various suppliers who service these type of plants. Now we have to pay people not to seek work, just stay home and live on a handouts. makes you weep. Does anyone think that China/ India/ Russia etc care about so called global warming? you tell and show me.
Had a massive effect on the local area these shutting and the pits. Government must have thought self sufficiency isn’t a worth while investment. From all here thanks for f**k all
says will be generating electricity well into the future, its to stop generating very soon & ferrybridge D is to take over instead so this vid Is not relevant anymore
Has had a massive effect on the local area these and the pits shutting. Thanks From Yorkshire

A disgrace that this government has caused this power station to be demolished
it was an old, outdated station not worthy of modifying
We are going to regret this "Green" nonsense this winter. Loadshedding on the way. You cannot run a modern Economy on renewables.
"Will continue to generate well into future" - 2010
Closed and now demolished -2021
More corporate lies by Scottish and Southern Energy.
CEGB forever!
Same here in ireland two almost brand new peat fired power stations closed down last year and to demolished soon crazy stuff

Nice one mr Gee
The man teaching science at airedale high is my head of year as I got to that school
Pity they didn’t show the OCGT (gas turbine) sets.
I used o pass it on the Grand Central train from London to Bradford.

We are the official Media Team surveying and documenting the demolition of Ferrybridge C Power Station for Keltbray Decommissioning.
really
6:02 Talks about high pressure turbine but shows feedwater pump instead
well the feed pump is a turbine driven by HP steam so..
And if you look to the right you can see a turbine
hello dawn, do you know the year this video was produced? thanks
😂😂😭 will power well in to the future it’s gone went in 2016 shame they do make investments in making it cleaner. What for nothing waste of money.
Thats my school
Mr gardener

except as a fascinating
historical document
Ferrybridge D is just burning rubbish so it is pointless so now we have to rely on Drax
