  • A quiet week this week so I had a bit of time to go and video whatever Hall&Wilson were at and they just happened to be at hay that evening.
Wasn't the first choice of music I'll be honest. I had the video half edited twice with two different songs before starting again a third time with this song, Aulx studio - Violet letter. Ah it's grand just, I'm sure it wouldn't really be a piece of music everyone would like.
If I stay for the maize season (I'm in two minds at the moment) I already have the ideal song picked out for either a maize video or complete season video so that should turn out better than this video hopefully although this one isn't terrible either, some nice landscape there, and steep fields to make things interesting.
I also tried doing a bit of commentary there with the headcam.... No.......I can't do it. Not for me, I'm no good at it. I've really not much to say anyway. Anything I'd like to say I can say here anyway so that's not too bad, it only takes a bit more time to get any message across that's all.... I might try again when I go back to Ireland, we'll see.
You'll see there at the end of the video that the last 3 clips are reversed. For some unknown reason my editor (Filmora) decided to just freeze....except only if I scrubbed the video playback with my mouse backwards it would go through the video fine without freezing....... so I had the idea to reverse the video clips themselves and then yeah....they worked fine backwards. I exported the video and watched it while playing forwards and the last 3 clips were just freeze frames even on just the computer's media player outside of the editor. Who knows what's going on there...
That's really it I suppose, not much else to say. Pretty sick of New Zealand now to be honest, silage is grand but I've had 6 seasons back-to-back without a winter now and I'm just done with it now at this stage. I've season 7 ahead of me now when I get home and a whole heap of maintenance to get through before it even starts.
The Same needs to be split again for the clutch and creeper box out again to get into the pto shaft to weld that, the engine needs to be worked at, the lift cover needs to come off to fit the 540 1000 gears into it.
The Ford needs a new turbo, my scrapyard tw-15 turbo is completely knackered now. I need to weld up some new pipework for that as well, the current setup is a mess under the bonnet. I should stick a clutch in it too as a precaution because I'm hoping for a busy year this year and if the Ford did a clutch (or breaks in general) I'll be in bother.
My little lely rotonde split the frame at the end of the summer there so that needs to be welded back together and needs a new hardy spicer or two inside the arms there I noticed they were gone just when it split. I'd like to go full restoration with that machine, it would be a handy size project to go do and kind of essential too because I need a rake and I really do like the rotonde. Makes a nice row for a round baler but is small enough to use in front of the JF or square baler unless the crops are ridiculous heavy.
The aul Welger square baler did a nice little bit this summer so I want to spend a day or two at that getting it ready. I bought a backup Welger ap61 the week before I came to NZ this year but it actually looks in better condition than the current ap61 so hopefully next year I'll get the two fettled up nicely and 2 balers on the job. Cool. Just need a second 10 series Ford for it now that's all. 7610....7810....whichever. Would like an 8210 but would look too big on a sqaure baler I think. Be nice for round baling alright.
What else have I......Ah the JF! That needs a helping hand along too but it's kind of low priority at the moment. Would love to send it away to tullamore and get the feed roller hinge modifications done to it to allow it to take more grass but I'm not sure when I'll be able to afford that. It's not terrible dear but I'd have to figure out a way to bring it over and back to Offaly as well which is a bit of a problem.....
Tedders are grand. I bought a new Malone 4 rotor last year because that krone kept breaking gears, bearings, main gearbox fucking hell......disaster... I have a lely 600 as well I bought in a panic last summer which I kept as well. So two 4 rotor tedders....would look nice on a pair of old Fords also 🤔
No shortage of things to fix when I get home anyway, so that's also the other half of why I'm thinking of calling it quits on New Zealand early this year. I want to be well prepared this coming summer at home, not like the last 2 years when I come home in April and only have a few weeks before silage again. Ah I don't know, I'll think about it.
I don't know how I can't think of anything to say while doing the commentary 🤣 I'm at four thousand nine hundred digits out of five thousand max for the description box at the minute. On one other video of mine I did it perfect, five thousand out of five thousand. Hehey! Five thousa....!

Yuneec typhoon H. It's 5 or 6 years old now. I like it but the camera isn't the best on it.

@user-tw5se8ho7s right ok. Na there was this other fella eddie who used be onto me but he disappeared idk where he went.
Anyway no I've no experience of kuhn. Happy with the welger massey baler. If i was going to drive a combi baler i think the fusions are the best and I've not much experience with anything else

@user-tw5se8ho7s mr.cvx did the same I see. He's happy with it. I haven't seen any kuhn balers around here. Whelans is the local dealer. Massey Ferguson dealers but they were dealing with welger and lely for years before massey ever got involved with the balers. The welgers are well regarded in our area. I see a few combi massey balers around but know nothing about them. Drove a 245 tornado combi in nz for a day last year but spent the day broke down with broken chains :(
