Salamun Alaikum,
I've heard from a scholar that the hadith of the 7s shouldn't be taken (either because it's not authentic or problematic in some other way, I forgot the exact reason), but in practicality, many children get extremely spoiled when they get everything they want and it hurts them growing up for the other stages.
