Kris, thank you for opening up some of your life and sharing it with us! i genuinely enjoy watching all of your projects and goings on. you have built a beautiful life for you and Dot and its fun to see the passion you have for what you do. keep up the great work and as always, look forward to your next video. cheers!
Agreed. I really enjoy watching the random day to day stuff. It underlines how much Kris has accomplished over the last few years and how a wonderfull life in the country is actually really hard work.
Tremendous hard workers you all are. I'm in Bakersfield California USA where I have never worked as hard as you all but if I have the opportunity I will share some of your adventures with my grandchildren so that they might realize how easy they have life. Stay safe. God bless you all 💪🏽🙏💖🐝
Thanks for the updates garden looks very productive. Milling with the drone was great and the water pipe pressure is a gardeners dream. Also nice you have lizards 👍. Thanks
The renaissance man. He manages to engage with engineering, plasma modelling, CAD, horticulture, cabinetmaking, carpentry, hydraulic engineering, electronics, Dot, the happiest cat I've seen in an age, ecological thinking, practical ecology, hydrology. I mean, is there anything left worth examining. And, on top of that, a healthy, sane, engaging, optimistic and communicative human being. Oh, and he can make UA-cam videos, so, can manage modern video technology, editing, screenwriting and planning, understands cameras, lenses, batteries, and use of selfies. Kris, you sicken me.😉
He is such an amazing hardworking person! Dot you found a treasure!! Love watching both of you working together and creating such informative and enjoyable videos!! @75 yrs old I have never met such an intelligent person!!! Greetings from Colorado!!!
It really is great to see Dot now and then, she is just so into what you are doing there, you make a great couple and I wish you success in every way. I'm surprised you haven't knocked up some sort of hydraulic lift/ramp to get logs up on the saw by now, it'd be quite a simple thing to do, faster than that boat winch and easier on your back too.
Kris, l really enjoy your channel, especially as you have solar, hydro and wind. Just surprised you have not added another turbine. Maybe you could put in a hydro ram pump to pump water from the waterfall up to the top pond or garden instead of carrying anything for hydrating the garden.
I’m always daydreaming about having a sawmill, and an off grid workshop and all the other self sufficient ways of living. You’re doing it all, great stuff. I love your channel man!!
Hi Kris, really loving the videos! About the little sprinkler, it is a sector sprinkler. We use them a lot in the Netherlands. On the back you can flip the mechanism and it wil move from left to right and back. You may have to have a bit more pressure sometimes. However I noticed that one direction needs less pressure than the other, so if I have not enough pressure, I’ll just let it spin 360 degrees. Hope it helps!
WOW!! I am so impressed with your progress on the water pipe to the garden and building a filter to save the tadpoles. The water trough for the sheep is brilliant 👏 lovely slabs you're cutting for future projects. The garden 😍 ♥️ Dot has a Green 👍!! So looking forward to your new solar array. Blessings on you and Dot and Tiger and any livestock wandering about your homestead! Please stay healthy and safe. ☔️🦋🖖🐈⬛🐓🐑
Good idea about the sunflowers -- I grew sunflowers the last couple of years and have collected the seeds to grow more to feed the rabbits. They can live off of just sunflowers or just alfalfa. As well the sunflower oil has many uses including for fuel :) Awesome video!!! Thank you -- I appreciate all your talents!!!
Put a non return valve on the end in the pond - you will be able to “pump” with the nrv by moving the pipe back and forth in the water, add a ball cock at the drum and it will be forever full and primed. Love your channel, inspirational stuff. Thanks for sharing. From the south coast of Western Australia.
Morning Kris & Dot. It’s absolutely fantastic watching you as it’s taking my mode off the material world we live in and what’s also happening in the world especially in the Ukrainian ☹️ They grow a lot of sunflowers 🌻 so you planting them will show support for them 😍 Take care buddy 👍🏻
Thanks Kris I enjoy all your videos. Could u please do one on solar power, like all the details of components and correctly installing. Most videos don't have all the details. Would really appreciate it. Best wishes to you, Dot and Pus Pus 🌻
Hi Kris. I'm currently a operations manager for a large company in Ireland of you need any input or advise I'm happy to share knowledge. I'd suggest putting in 6kw, at the moment it might be over kill for you as you have hydro and wind power. But having the extra 2kw there if needs be. Also dont mix match wattage of panels... ie 300watt panel with say a 315watt. It creates heat spots and all panels will reduce to the wattage of the lower panels. There is methods to correct this. But best just buying all same watt panels.. Hope this helps..
Please, I’d be interested in the methods to correct for mismatched pannels, as i’d like to reuse pannels, i think recycling is the greenest of green energy ;).
@@TheEmbrio You can use mismatched panels but you need more charge controllers (or inverters) because each charge controller should only have matched panels connected to it (otherwise all your panels are reduced in performance to match whichever panel is the worst). If you have 10 matched panels you could connect them to a single charge controller, but if you have 10 mismatched panels you will need 10 charge controllers to get the most out of each panel. You'll also need to select charge controllers that will work in parallel, as some that are "smart" and try to do battery conditioning etc. will misbehave if more than one is connected to the same battery bank. Although it costs more having so many charge controllers, it does provide redundancy because a failed panel or charge controller will just reduce your power generation a little, it won't take out the whole system. And it makes it much easier to gradually expand your system as needed, unlike the more traditional method of a single charge controller/inverter and a fixed set of panels that can never be added to.
I love the use of the old boot. I am sure it is working very well at redirecting the sawdust. The best part of what you do is how you use so much of what others would throw away! Thank you for sharing this piece of your life with us
11:41 - that Rain Bird type sprinkler head provided the soundtrack of my youth growing up in SoCal in the 1970s. Haven't heard it for donkey's years. Nice to be reminded of it again.
Hello kris, congratulations every job you do makes your home more and more beautiful and the workshop is now almost over. Hi , alex from milan italy.👍🤙👨🔧👩🌾🐈🏡🌳🌱🐐🐓🐤Life in nature💚
Very satisfying that you got enough water into the pipe to pull enough water to set the siphon. Looks like more volume than that the garden could ever need. That sort of sprinkler is quite common here in Canada / US - usually spiked in, set the angle (or 360º) and it's all set for the need. Tadpoles are fertilizer too. Just saying.
Kris! a helpful (?) suggestion, or two -- try taking your off-cuts from the mill to create 'hugelkultur' mounds to increase your garden(s) while decreasing water use, (look it up!) I use some of my off-cuts (slabs) to lay over low/boggy areas to create dry paths, thereby using the wood for multiple purposes, not just for home heating, while steering away from concrete, etc. One other thought; I second the suggestion made by others to raise the solar framework up a bit -- folks are raising crops, (with less direct, more scattered sunlight) beneath the panels. (Reference: Oregon State University "accidentally" discovered some crops do well with less heat/direct sun; so less water use, as well.) Hope these help; from the Willamette Valley to Wales. Lee P. Only you, Kris, could just film a few things throughout your week, and it would be more than most of us do in years. Waterlines, garden projects, milling lumber for a couple other projects… All the while sharing dozens of projects to come! I did build a 1 acre garden and large hoop house, but it took years and lots of helping hands. Thank you for sharing incredible know how, future plans and motivation!
Thanks Kris and I just found your 'tube' site by accident and have already subscribed. Take care with the man flu, you will need lots of nursing back to health!!
Its great to see how much you all have accomplished since the beginning. Loved every video. I find it all fascinating and inspiring. I look forward to many many more.
Sorry mate only just caught up! Chuffed your expanding the solar you'll have all bases covered then, and the 3ph must draw some current!! Garden is looking great as are the trees! Great video buddy. Still super jealous of your bandsaw too! Take it easy! 😁👍
I planted sunflowers for the same reason. Unfortunately squirrels killed off 2 plants so far. Dug em up by the root and tossed em half way across the yard. Best of luck with your plants!
How lovely, have been following you since you were building the roundhouse, its really nice to see how you have come along, congratulations on how well things are going mate!
Love seeing this Kris, you've done so well with that land and given the way the trees are going it's going to be such a nice place to live in 20 years.
One of my favourite channels. Love how you make rubbish into useful stuff.
I’m convinced this guy was just born with the mind of a genius

Your ingenuity Kris never ceases to amaze me. 🌱🐢🐸🦎🐾
That pond water trick was impressive Kris , great tip 👍🏴
Awesome! Living the good life!
Absolutely amazing! I followed this guy from 5000 subs! 5 years ago… absolutely brilliant. Thank you Kris 🤘🏼
Am I the only one that forgets about the pond from time to time? The drone is a wonderful addition.
One little innovation after another to make life easier.
I am impressed.
I really like that van of yours. It's got everything a man needs. It takes fuel you can make yourself , 4 wheel drive and plenty of space for cargo.
Thanks for sharing!!! I love your cat, it reminds me of my long gone cat!! She was a lioness!!!
Thanks for the updates garden looks very productive. Milling with the drone was great and the water pipe pressure is a gardeners dream. Also nice you have lizards 👍. Thanks

Thank you ☺️

Another great video.
Maybe an idea with the solar panel frame:
Making it high and wide enough to park the tractor and van under it as a car park.
Wow always amazing seeing what you have accomplished throughout your journey 👍.
Your work is good
Loved the drone shots of the lumber milling. Pretty cool. 👍🙂
Garden is looking good. God bless
Early finish from work, just got washed & changed made myself a brew and I get a notification.. Great timing 👏
Great update. Loved the syphon for some reason 😄 looking forward to the new solar array.
I’m just wondering - what CAN’T you do?
I’m always amazed at your ingenuity in building your property up, yet still maintaining nature.
❤❤❤
I'm well impressed by what you have achieved.

Thank You for sharing. Wonderful.
Think about adding water collection off of the new solar panels. May be able to feed the rainwater to the workshop?
Love the work you guys do.
Thanks for posting and sharing, and bringing viewers like me along with you as you and Dot develop your property and businesses.
Absolutely loved this.

nice job with the sprinkler Kris. With luck it will save a lot of running about with a watering can....
Love these type of videos as it gives us a glimpse into how you have successfully created a sustainable off grid lifestyle.
That green house.... gorgeous
Great to have free water! We use a timer connected to small irrigation tubing. Allows targeted watering.
The plantings are looking very tidy. I’m inspired to crack on with the jobs in my tiny garden. Thanks for sharing.
...a great video....thank you, Sir.
Man cuts wood, thousands watch, I still can't believe you've gone from a tent to this, keep it up
Wonderfull. So much vool stuff. Enjoy the live in that beautyfull space you created. 🌱

I'm looking forward to seeing more of your garden. I always love seeing new plantings growing and then producing.
Been starting my garden as well and then Mother Nature decided winter wasn’t over in the PNW of the United States! Great looking soil!
You are a freaking genius on everything
Looking forward to your new projects

Playing mincraft in real life. Great to see another vid! Got some sunflowers this year as well 🌻
Enjoyed that episode. The birdsong background was great!
Really nice with the flyover.
Fascinating as always thanks for sharing.
