I've never known another artist who improvises their music so much during every live performance. You can search for 10 versions of this song and they'll all sound different in some way, yet at the core still be Nottingham Lace, and still sound fucking incredible.
I remember picking up Are You Experienced in the record store. I was familiar with Purple Haze due to radio play, but I had no idea that lp would change my life musically as I walked out of the store with it. A couple years ago a friend sent me a link to this video, and listening to it brought back the feeling I had the first time I listened to AYE all those years ago. This is probably my favorite song of the last 10 years, and this old guy can't get enough of Buckethead.
honestly this song can lift me up from the worst of times. Buckethead can make some of the most heavy fucked up riffs, but he can also make the riffs that hit you deep and make you appreciate things in your life a lot more
You are obsessed, which is a great thing in this case! I discovered this song about 4 years ago and became a huge Buckethead fan, explored his other works and discovered the genius he really is. This particular video is unreal...
the original uploader is petesbloodyhands. he has a lot more on his channel but sadly his channel is not here anymore. but man he got the most unbelievable videos of buckethead man
@@lndyrd i downloaded the whole concert back then, but my hard drive got destroyed.. but i think its reuploaded by someone else Edit: yup just search for buckethead mishawaka its part 1 and part 2.. the original uploader got more of these back then not sure of they're reuploaded... most if them are probably unseen by newer fans, but imo its more amazing compared to his newer ones
BucketHEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAD, Bucketfuckinghead is a genius, this guy deserves a place along Mozart and all other genius for giving us humans this beautiful song.
I remember when this video was posted and only a month old.... a timeless masterpiece. No signs of degradation since, I'm still as encapsulated. Magnificently somber and elegant in the truest expressions. ....but words fail and fall. That's what makes this human a real gem and wonder to behold. -.-\m/
khnarry Yeah, I never really like the first segment of the song, but it wouldn't be very lengthy without it and wouldn't have much feeling, I don't know why, but the first segment builds it for the solo. And yes, the lead break is damn exquisite.
I watched this with my friend and he asked me what was his guitar tuned to (I know what is was acutely but that wasn't enough for buckethead so I told him;) His guitar is tuned to A W E S O M E but then he said wait buckethead only has 6 strings. I said he has and extra secret string especially to blow your mind.
apparently UA-cam is not advanced enough to make 10 stars possible ....if they would see wath buckethead is they would make special sections just for him where u could post 10 stars ....IF SOMEONE WAS WONDERING WHO THE GOD OF ROCK IS .....THERE U HAVE IT ......A LIVE SESION OF THE SAME SONG IN THE STUDIO IS UNCOMPARABLE...WITH ALL OF THIS IMPROVISATION ON THE MOMENT
@Canizarezqw Where is Siege Engine in that list, Ghost Host, LeBron, Redeem Team, all of the Population Override album, Aunt Suzie, Sail on Soothsayer? All badass songs. :)
@phuckethead85 haha. i agree. even steve vai bores me. plus ive played guitar for many years, and since ive been listening to buckethead, it just kinda makes feel, insignificant.
Seriously stop it! Stop suggesting Soothsayer I know its one of his most famous piece... But come on? What about: Shadows Between the Sky, Inward Journey, We Can Rebuild Them, Lurker At The Threshold (All Parts), Mantaray, Hanging Gallows, Bird With A Hole In The Stomach, Brewer In The Air, Frozen Brains Tell No Tales & Oakridge Cake (Tribute To Kool Keith). I mean the list could go on forever I was caught listening to Buckethead in 1997 when I heard " Hanging Gallows" by Death Cube K
@ReaverWall there is one bh song in which he doesnt improvise live - i love my parents. doesnt play it all that often (i only found one live filming) but he does NOT improvise. guess it's too personal.
@heartbreakasam it's part of his show...he has a battle with his hand to play better and by the end he fucking rips it up; hence why it sounds shitty at the beginning.
I've never known another artist who improvises their music so much during every live performance. You can search for 10 versions of this song and they'll all sound different in some way, yet at the core still be Nottingham Lace, and still sound fucking incredible.
There was only another one like him.....and that was the legendary Frank Zappa.
BUCKETHEAD IS LEGENDARY and the MASTER...
I don't know ...........I think he's pretty consistent ..............
Buckethead is the best guitarist in history in my opinion
That's not opinion, it's fact, look it up.
I find it unfair to compare 🅱uckethead to other musicians,I mean why compare human to a friggin robot designed to play guitar?
SRV
Buckethead
Jimi
Jerry
Steve. Sweeny
Best living
this isnt opinion my friend, you are just vigilant of the future
the emotion in his playing on this is heartbreaking...
heartbreaking? I suggest you use this on your girlfriend then Buckethead can break her heart instead of you! LOL
10 years later, this is still my fav version

Yeah, me too.
The better guitarist ever walk on this damned earth!!
Someday I want to be able to improvise like he does.
That is what makes him magical...
Like Frank Zappa...
BUCKETHEAD IS THE ABSOLUTE MASTER.
can you do it now?
@@NicolaukkI’ve become a pretty competent improviser, and I still love playing ideas over this song

This is an outstanding solo. And from 2:04 onwards it is truly heavenly...
yep, when that part plays its a build up and you know the good shit is coming up
I hate the first part of this song, but Buckethead did that Intentionally. From 2:30 on the lead break is Epic

Question ? On a scale of 1 to 10, How dirty,(distorted) Is his guitar sound ?
I'd like to hear some opinions.
Around 4 at Rhythm. Around 6 when solo:)
he utilizes his guitar to amp via guitar pots like zappa
4 or 5. His leads are incredible because of his humbucket
Can't say but I love it.
