Congrats on the new bike. I sold my Stelvio 18 months ago and bought a V85 for more or less the same reason as you The V85 is so much easier to move around the garage. Also never would have imagined having a bike with cruise control but I use it often and miss it when riding a bike not fitted with cruise. Really appreciate the economy of the V85 too, 60 to 65mpg is easily attainable.
I have to say it nice to hear from someone with the same issues I had with a big bike, Cruise control, well I'm starting to become a fan, as to the economy of the V85 I was staggered and actually had to check the miles against the fuel used and the dash was right I hit 66 to the gallon on a run.

Great choice, I have bought V85 TT Travel in september last year and I already have 5000 km on it. I fell in love with this bike after the test ride and this love is stronger after every ride. It is, as you said, very agile, comfortable and easy to ride. You have to check the oil regularly because it has only cca 1,8 l oil capacity and as it is air cooled only sometimes it burns some oil. This and valve clearance adjustment every 10 000 km and that is all. I enjoy every ride on my V85 TT and at the moment I have a feeling, that I will keep this bike for a very very long time. Enjoy.
Same here. I have a V85Tt Travel and love it. As said I also find the more I ride it the more I like it. As for your comment about missing the grunt. I thought the same coming from a 1260 Multistrada, I did a little for a short while, but the V85 has plenty for real world riding, and it's such a pleasure to live with.

I got a new V85TT last May. It is a superbly built machine and is an absolute joy to ride! It is my 6th Guzzi and is the best by a long way. You will love it.

Congrats on the new bike, I also bought a 2020 Travel last week end . I cant believe Ive done a 1000 ks on it in a week ,I have owned over 20 bikes in my time, so the wife tells me LOL, & this is my favourite, I changed all my oils 150 mils in the diff ,500 in the gearbox & 1.5 in the motor took 1 hour & done the valve clearance took 2 hours ,Will take less next time .As im heading for retirement this a great low maitenace bike that I can maintain my self .Love the way it starts up.
Whats not to like they are a capable and easy to maintain motorbike, I know that there are higher performing bikes but for real world usage they are hard to beat.
2020 Travel here also. I’m 74 and about 20 bikes in my history as well. This is the perfect bike for me at my age and here in the Coast Range of Northern California. I don’t ride much off road and don’t do rain. I changed out the stock Michelin Anakees for the Continental Road Attack 3 as the Michelins were just too loud as they wore down. The Continentals are GREAT. I still get a good spirited ride over these mountain roads with total confidence, dragging the pegs is a very much can do with this bike, great balance and plenty of power.
They have Texa diagnostics which covers a huge range of bikes. It has taken the bike industry years to catch up to the car world when it comes to diagnostics.

Other than the McDonald's paint job (impossible to recover from), I've seen a good off road rider figure out that it'll Greenlane & off road somewhat competently, only SLOWER than everything else! To me, it makes a good greenlane learner, right? Another rider with specific needs, absolutely adores it for daily driving- on mostly roads. So, I think you'll love it!! I'm sure I'd love it as well.

Congratulations! Not a mistake at all, in my opinion. Once a bike becomes a hassle for me, or I lose the enthusiasm for it, it goes away. As much as I enjoy my Norge, I know I’ll need/want to downsize it at some point. I’ve looked and looked at the V85, but I’m tired of straining to reach the ground on ADV bikes because of my lack of height, which is a main reason why I chose a Himalayan. I do wonder how I will react, with respect to the Norge, when I see the new V100 in person. Before that happens, I hope to get my son, who is still working his way up in bike size, to try the Norge. If he likes it, maybe I can pass it on to him.
I wish I had a dad like you to pass on a bike like the Norge, my parents hated bikes and never helped me buy one but I got all mechanical on them and built old bikes into rides that would at least run. The Himalayan is proving to be a very popular choice.
They really are good bikes with a very willing engine, again Guzzi have managed to produce a bike and keep it well hidden from the public to avoid being successful.

I love mine. It is the Rossa Kalahari paint color. Mine came used with heated grips engine guards and the three set of cases. Only things I am looking at adding are the hand guards and aux lights. I am currently laid up after emergency surgery on both feet. Yesterday I made it outside and fired her up after 4 months of sitting idle outside. Fired right up. My room mate was amazed. His Super Tenere always give him trouble at first start after winter.

I do agree with your comments about soul and feel but I think the V85 Guzzi still manages to maintain some character as does the V series in general due in no small part to the engine.

Wow how will you live without that torque rush. My drive is the opposite to yours the front border is 6 feet higher than the rear one. The V85TT is a very nice bike but my little legs struggled to meet the floor when I tried one. 28 1/2 inch inside leg.
I'm not sure how much I will miss the grunt of the 1200 but as I said it's not much use if I can't even get it out of the shed. I can put both feet flat on the ground so the height is not an issue for me. I guess time will tell if I have made the right move.
Boy do we think alike, I'm thinking hard on getting one myself! The V85TT Travel is the one I'm after! I have 3 bikes 2 in repair mode and I'm 70 now and would like one for a birthday present to myself! Looking forward to your review of the V85!
When bought the V85 my wife bought me a new jacket to go with it for my 71st birthday in May I know its an early present but at our age who cares about the date. I will be posting more about the bike soon.
Congratulations on your purchase of the V85TT. That's a nice selection of bikes you have. Similar to yourself I have had a Norge longterm (11 years). I have recently been looking at a load of reviews of the V85TT and believe it may well be my next bike. I just can't bring myself to part with the Norge at the moment, I think I would regret it. I will be interested in hearing how you get on with your V85TT.
The Norge is a brilliant bike, I would not have swapped it if it hadn't been for health problems. I did have reservations but so far I have thoroughly enjoyed the V85
Bravo! One of my favorite bikes that has come out in recent years the V85TT. It is the bike that first got me looking at replacing my Bonneville. It has been slippery one to acquire here State side and so I still don’t have one. Though I was able to satisfy my Italian desires with a Aprilia Caponord 1200. A brilliant and capable bike. The only thing I don’t like about it is moving it out of the garage and driveway, it is heavy. I think a V85TT would be easier for that bit 😅.
I have now done a lot of miles on the V85 and the pleasure has not faded, I bought it to replace the Norge which had for me become to heavy to move around. So far the V85 has fulfilled all of my expectations an more. A very easy bike to live with.
I have got a slightly taller after market screen on mine and it does seem to work well, I talked about it in one of my other videos as i noticed there were very few dead fly's on my visor and a lot on the screen.

I'm going in the opposite direction v85tt to a Norge , fell for the V85 looks but couldn't keep up with its endless electronic issues and awful glitchy surging low speed fuel problems, horrible thing ended up hating it . Best of luck with that one 👍
I've had none of those issues at all, it is odd how one model can differ from one bike to the next. I found it very easy to ride at low speed even when 2 up and fully loaded on holiday. Don't get me wrong the Norge is an awesome bike and if it wasn't for health reasons I would not have changed it.
@Old Guy In Shed I loved the looks after all that's what sold it to me but Just back and forth to the dealers with niggles and problems , got fed up with it , now my old 07 Navada, a proper lesbian looking thing , has never ever put a foot wrong In 31,000 Miles , yet to look at it you want to reach for the vomit bag !!! I didn't buy my after market screen it came with it, it's called Ermax if that's any help. It does work well for my height and keeps most bugs off my visor.

I find it interesting that you have a V7 850 and were considering a V85TT, they are similar in many ways but where they are different they are miles apart. What made you consider the change?

They get more power out of the 850 engine, but the V85 is clearly heavier. I don't really need the touring features. If he offers me a test ride on the new Mandello......
Always had a soft spot for Guzzi's and have even owned a couple over the years. Problem now is that I would love a V85tt and have been offered a very tempting deal against my year old triumph 900 rally pro for a new V85tt but I'm scared....
So far I have found nothing I dislike, it's not the most powerful machine in its class but for me it just fine. The triumph 900 I believe has quite a bit more power and maybe better for off road, as I don't go even green lane the guzzi is brilliant.
Before the door went up I said V85TT... I wasn't wrong! It's a beautiful bike. I myself have bought a 2006 Breva 1100, my first Guzzi after years of flirting with them. I'm thoroughly enjoying it, they're all great aren't them? Ride safe!
The Breva is certainly one of the best all rounders that hides under the mainstream radar. I did huge mileage on mine til i traded it for the Norge which is the same bike with clothes on.
@@oldguyinshed1703 funnily enough i had never ridden a Breva until I bought this one, but I had ridden both the Griso and the Norge before, so I knew what I was getting into. A Griso 1100 was the first Guzzi I ever rode, and the bike that made me fall in love with the brand.
Surprised you moved from big sturdy tourer to a light all terrain nevertheless the V85 is a great bike. I ride Nevada 750 and was looking at Breva 850 or V85TT for all round use. The latter is such a nimble ride but more expensive, with a decent deal it would be already in my backyard, if you felt the limitations of weight then your gut obviously talked to your heart and brain. The V85 is a smooth wonderful ride, and such a different bike to the Norge. Aprila engineering over a Guzzi engine structure. Best of both worlds. Only doubt I have is electronics, keep us posted if you ever have problems there.
The whole point of the change was the V85 is significantly easier for me to manhandle due to my failing strength. The Norge is a brilliant bike but it simply became to much for me, this exchange is allowing me to continue riding for a while longer.
I'm amazed as I'm having the same thoughts, sell my Norge and get the lighter V85. Parting with the Norge is too difficult! Likely stick with the Norge for another season. Maybe next year

Nice bike the 85TT, i like them but a little to ‘new’ for me. i stick by my breva 750, just love that bike.
I still have the 750 Breva as it is such a good bike but it is totally different to the V85TT so they make good stable mates.

I had a test ride on a standard V85TT about 3 weeks ago: very nice. I'm keeping my V7 850 for now.
I find it interesting that you have a V7 850 and were considering a V85TT, they are similar in many ways but where they are different they are miles apart. What made you consider the change?
@@oldguyinshed1703 The dealer I bought the V7 from last June sent an e-mail inviting me for a test ride on his demonstrator, so I had one.
They get more power out of the 850 engine, but the V85 is clearly heavier. I don't really need the touring features.
If he offers me a test ride on the new Mandello......

Always had a soft spot for Guzzi's and have even owned a couple over the years. Problem now is that I would love a V85tt and have been offered a very tempting deal against my year old triumph 900 rally pro for a new V85tt but I'm scared....
So far I have found nothing I dislike, it's not the most powerful machine in its class but for me it just fine. The triumph 900 I believe has quite a bit more power and maybe better for off road, as I don't go even green lane the guzzi is brilliant.
Before the door went up I said V85TT... I wasn't wrong! It's a beautiful bike. I myself have bought a 2006 Breva 1100, my first Guzzi after years of flirting with them. I'm thoroughly enjoying it, they're all great aren't them? Ride safe!
The Breva is certainly one of the best all rounders that hides under the mainstream radar. I did huge mileage on mine til i traded it for the Norge which is the same bike with clothes on.
@@oldguyinshed1703 funnily enough i had never ridden a Breva until I bought this one, but I had ridden both the Griso and the Norge before, so I knew what I was getting into. A Griso 1100 was the first Guzzi I ever rode, and the bike that made me fall in love with the brand.

Surprised you moved from big sturdy tourer to a light all terrain nevertheless the V85 is a great bike. I ride Nevada 750 and was looking at Breva 850 or V85TT for all round use. The latter is such a nimble ride but more expensive, with a decent deal it would be already in my backyard, if you felt the limitations of weight then your gut obviously talked to your heart and brain. The V85 is a smooth wonderful ride, and such a different bike to the Norge. Aprila engineering over a Guzzi engine structure. Best of both worlds. Only doubt I have is electronics, keep us posted if you ever have problems there.
The whole point of the change was the V85 is significantly easier for me to manhandle due to my failing strength. The Norge is a brilliant bike but it simply became to much for me, this exchange is allowing me to continue riding for a while longer.
I'm amazed as I'm having the same thoughts, sell my Norge and get the lighter V85. Parting with the Norge is too difficult! Likely stick with the Norge for another season. Maybe next year
I would not have traded the Norge if my strength wasn't sapping away, I do think the time was right for me.
I like your new bike, but am interested to know if you ever considered the Stelvio? If you did what put you off and now settle on the TT?
Just the weight, and my local dealer had the V85 in stock.
Blimey, my Norge is going too. Christ, they'll be worth sod all at this rate! What's the leg bend like compared with the Norge?
My legs are less bent on the V85 than the Norge, which I find more comfortable.
