Cheers mate. There may well be a part 2, a great road down from Alston to Barnard Castle. The problem will be cutting the 30 minutes down to a smaller clip!
Yes it was a good trip. I too had heard about it a lot so had to go and see what the fuss was all about. It's obviously not the cafe that's the attraction but there are some great roads and scenery up there. I'm sure I'll be making another trip soon! ☺
Hey I live near hartside and went up on my aprillia rs50, yes. As in 50cc sadly, at least it’s not a scooter but I can’t go higher with my age. But anyway went up and loved the road it’s a beautiful view and perfect road until something went wrong with my fly wheel and I had to pull over and get my dad to bring the bike back with the van lol, saying this in attempt to get some Cumbrian riding buddies lol
Not been back for ages unfortunately as now live I the Highlands. Saw the cafe had burnt down a while ago :( . You'll pick up bike buddies no problem, every biker is a buddy!! :)
***** the link doesn't seem to work just shows canal road in bfd, thanks for trying to send through. I went Skipton, Kirby lonsdale, Kirkby Steven, near Penrith, then across to Alston via Hartside pass, then down to Barnard Castle (B6277 - now that is a bloody good road!!!) Then down to Richmond, Leyburn, Ripon, Harrogate then back home. A good 6-7 hours taking into account the stops etc (c220 miles). Loved every minute of it.
SpinyBiker So the tractor didn't turn in to a field? The least it could have done was pull over to let you pass. 220 miles for a ride out? Sounds like my kind of day :)
Lurch OnABike it clearly wasn't a magic tractor :( the trip should have been 220 miles turned into 254 miles as sat nav sent me down a back road (in my next upload!). Cheers mate.
There's the big bike! Did you notice that cyclist being brutally tailgate at the beginning? Awesome curves on that road, AND you got to sandwich between a BMW S1000RR and a BMW S1000R on the parking lot!
I hadn't noticed that bike being tailgated, good spot! Not surprised to see it was a white van....Good spot too re the BMW's, you clearly know your bikes.
On a clear day, you can see the Solway Firth from the cafe!
Great looking place for a ride looks very popular considering how many riders where parked up - looks like a part 2 coming up?

I also looked at www.visitcumbria.com/evnp/hartside-pass/ to see you where as not knowing the UK
That would have been exciting to go there - you see it on so many biker vids :-)

They looked like great roads RSMF
They were and that was just a little slice. I could quite easily spend a week up there riding all the great roads. RSM.
