Nice video. Brought back memories. Farmington Avenue has not changed much...saw Burger King...still there. Wish there was Still a downtown with a music store and shops with huge display widows and a bank and Woolworth and the train bridge that went over the street...that I remember when I was small. Went to the old South Side school for kindergarten. Room was very big and the large windows were open to let in a cool breeze when it was hot and humid. There were cubby holes to store our papers, crayons and hat/scarf. And, around the corner was an ice cream store...perhaps, it was Friendlys...and I would get a vanilla old-fashioned cone. And, down the street, was the A & P where my parents bought groceries. Of note, I attended BEHS...’74 graduated...learned a lot, but was shy...liked my teachers too. And so... I have some fine memories...and am grateful for having had the opportunity to live in this quaint town before going to college, traveling around and just living life. The Yankee values that were installed in me, served me well!
Katie, Thank you for watching. glad I could bring back some of those old memories and thank you for sharing with us. That kindergarten room reminds me of a lot of class rooms I was in when I was growing up. Thank you again. Have a great day
I remember Woolworth, Caldor, Bradlees, Lorraine Shoes on Main St, JonMarie on Riverside Ave, the mall where Sage Allen and Sears was.....I have seen photos of Main St dating to the 1930's when the road was lined with multi-storey buildings and all kinds of stores, Cameo movie house which was the largest in Bristol at the time, did some research recently on old movie houses in the city, one which apparently fell through the cracks was Empire Theatre (not listed at Cinema Tour nor Cinema Treasures) on North Main St which closed in 1919.
Grew up on Oak Ridge Rd in the '70s and '80s.Graduated from BEHS in 1990. Worked at the first Taco Bell on Rt 6 from 88-90. Partied at bonfires with kegs in the woods.
My home town.. graduated from Bristol Central '91. Next time you should check out ESPN and Lake Compounce amusement park.. it's the oldest running amusement park in the country. Thanks for the memories 👍😎
neat how you went from Wolcott st and magically appear on 72 in Forestville, but I like a few others have been away for several years, I had so many stomping grounds and you traveled almost all of them.
My friend used to live in Windsor Locks and gonna take a road trip to see her new apartment in Bristol. Thanks for this. I live in Clifton which has a urban feel yet when you drive around its a big suburbs. This looks like a rural place yet its a big town.
Hi and thank you so much for the experience: it’s as if I’m looking out of the car window myself, You actually managed to convey the energy, the sounds, etc, etc, amazing ! Thank you so very much !:))
Coming down Rte 6 in the beginning there I consider that the main drag when was a kid growing up in that area 👍 I graduated Bristol Eastern class of “76” 😁
I traveled RT 6 so many times in my life. Runs right up the road where I live now.at 12:13 in the video on the mountain is when my girlfriend grew up . I posted the video now on her FB Page. My best friend grew up on the mountain too Air Force pilot A-10 Warthog out of CT.
I see positive reviews on the comments below. I did my research. It appears the cost of living and the environment seems more cleaner and peaceful than Westfield Massachusetts. I had thoughts that I might move to Bristol one day as long as that place remains as it is.
But the Ranking he included on Bristol tells that "poverty Story" without GoPro7 showing it. "In 2010, Bristol was ranked 84th on Money magazine's "Best Places to Live"." LOL Left for good in 1974. 😊
My hometown. Have been away for 35 years. Was nice to see all the places that I remember. Thanks for the tour.

And, Harvest Bakery was the best!
Recall in the early 1970s when a guy who worked at Harvest Bakery was killed by his roommate.
