Would like to add some context for those who are confused: I did not make this cover. Someone by the name of Max Demski did. Some time ago, this full project was uploaded to UA-cam by him. However it was deleted, so I reuploaded it. This cover album means a lot to me because it's the reason why I got into TMBG. At first I knew some of TMBG's songs like Istanbul and Particle Man, but since as a child I never listened to anything much outside of chiptune, I never listened to the Flood album. Therefore, this cover album became a bridge for me to start listening to more music. In a way, I have to thank this album for it leading to me listening to so many different musicians. I hope you all enjoy Max's work too! This album is quite impressive. I would say go support Max's new work, but all of his channels are gone now! Hopefully one day he will come back, since he is very talented.
i know it doesn't really apply because there's no lyrics, but the intro to flood implies that the band caused the world to flood "why are the ocean levels rising up, it's a brand new album from 1990: they might be giants flood
When my dad died I got his $300 Bose noise canceling headphones. They’re so clear that you can hear little intricacies you’ve never heard before in songs you’ve heard hundreds of times. From the Beatles to ICP. So crisp & clear. But none so apparent as in this arrangement of TMBG’s crowning achievement. Quite the crowning achievement yourself. Thoroughly impressed. Nice work. If you’re not producing other artists, you should be. Most musicians who can actually write decent material don’t have the producer ear. Especially not one forced to stick to a limiting & minimal theme like 8 bit sounds & making it sound like that. It’s a gift. Share it. Use it.

I would love a pixel rpg game called They Might Be Great or something and the premise of the game is finding all the random objects in the map to complete a song. Like finding a rock to wind a string around, or the arm chair that keeps being moved, or buildng a birdhouse in someone soul. And the game has this arrangement in the background the whole time.
lol i have a crappy rpg maker project based around the same premise all i have so far is chess piece face as an npc and the johns having to battle a skullivan for a rental copy of "tootsie"
imagine if for the parts in particle man, when they mention triangle man, it goes to triangle waveform. i don't know if it does that already though, i don't know how to tell
I swear, one of these days, I'm going to collaborate with a handful of friends and make a TMBG RPG with 8-Bit/Chiptune music. It'll be hit amongst the TMBG fans, young and old. Just. You. Wait. And. See.
I'm imagining a whole Mega Man-style game with this as the soundtrack. The hero is Particle Man, who's trying to foil the evil Triangle Man. Universe Man is the Dr. Light character, with Person Man as plucky comic relief. The intro screen would be "Road Movie To Berlin," leading into "Particle Man" at 125% playback. Boss music is "Sapphire Bullets" at 150%. Victory music is "Minimum Wage." Level select is "Hearing Aid." Levels: "Birdhouse in Your Soul" is a vertical level set in a lighthouse. You fight bees and Argonauts on the way up. Final boss: Jason. "Lucky Ball and Chain:" set in a bar. Chain Chomp-style enemies. "Istanbul (Not Constantinople):" I'm thinking an "Arabian Nights" theme to reference the "Tiny Toons" video, even if it's not totally geographically correct. "Your Racist Friend:" set at a party. The Friend is the final boss. For some reason "Twisting" strikes me as being good for an Air Man type level. I don't have any clever references in mind, though, except maybe there's a smoke machine to deactivate at some point. "Someone Keeps Moving My Chair:" set in an office. Final boss: the Ugliness Men. "Hot Cha:" Arthurian-themed, with some faux-Christian symbolism thrown in. "Women and Men:" beach-themed. Enemies come at you two by two, then three by three and four by four. "They Might Be Giants:" the final level. The final boss takes multiple forms, starting out as Triangle Man, but eventually becoming the Johns. I have no idea how to make this game, but it's fun to think about.
This was the peak album that turned the Johns into the music stars they deserved to be in the beginning. Birdhouse In Your Souls, Particle Man and Istanbul (Not Constantinople) are the first songs that come to mind when people talk about They Might Be Giants and how legendary of an alt rock and children’s music band they are. The album is one of, if not THEIR most popular that it’s one of the few albums they dedicate an entire concert performance to by playing the whole album live in concert from start to finish and is still a crowdpleaser all these years later. If it wasn’t for the Flood album’s credtuin, TMBG wouldn’t even exist to this day and we salute Flansburgh and Linnell for all their hard work over the years
What is the story? Was this a chip-tune or was this based of a another project; cause i really like this: and yes . Here are some honorable mentions: ( Shipwreck el tig3re ) (( someone keeps moving my chair )) ((4mat - That old magic)) ((Alien and Jenny - Back again!)) [chipped].
I came to this video thinking "I'll see what RMTB sounds like" and then I heard the intro and said "Okay well I gotta hear this" and then Birdhouse came on and I decided to sit through that real quick and then I listened to the whole thing

You should put his name in the title I think
Super They Bros:
1 John game
2 John game
> Fondly regard compilation.
This entire time TMBG was writing the best JRPG walking through town music.
I'm pretty sure Lucky Ball and Chain would make the perfect theme for an early gym leader.

It's been a year, any progress on the project? I'm waiting and I am older than I have ever been.
Okay, I've decided to take this seriously and actually plan things out. Hope to make something simple but pleasant. Cheers

Wow, this is cool! This album should be an 8-bit game too
This is the kind of thing that sounds so perfect that it feels like it should be the original version of the project
Twisting is so dope as chiptune. Max is a genius
Sounds like something that would be the soundtrack of a quirky rpg game. Something like earthbound or undertale maybe.
