I put two Traxxas Titan 380 motors in mine. Also changed the esc to one that I can use with my FlySky GT5. I can run 3s and get a lot more speed. Not an ideal setup, but works pretty good. The low speed control isn't great, but it gets the job done.
You should also switch to the 13 tooth pinion recommended by Kyosho to increase tork and reduce strain on the motors and ESCs with the metal tracks extra weight. You will get slightly lower speed but increased power for pushing snow and to drive the heavier tracks.
I just subscribed ! ! Came over from the swap video for the beast 2 and Winnebago. Just my point of view on the Kyosho. I use the Traxxas 380 motor with the sabertooth seeing there pretty dirt cheap. The little bit larger can does good with the metal tracks. I have ran this combo for about 3 years in my SR without any problems at all. I just need to bend he plow shaft a bit to go under the little larger can. GOOD LUCK AD CANT WAIT FOR THE RUNNING VIDEOS!!!
I have metal tracks on mine. Iv adjusted the chain tensioner and other tensioners all out to Max and I have even 3D printed larger idler wheels. All 4 on each side to add to the overall diameter. Even so, my tracks will still catch and fall off when turning to sharp on rougher terrain like tall grass. They get caught and slip off. The rubber is to stretchy on the metal tracks. If the put the metal parts on the plastic tracks, that would be perfect
For sure I have the same problem!!!!! 💯 metal tracks fall off ….. I have tried everything I can think of to fix the problem but no luck . If you know of anything please let me know.
Yeah metal tracks are good if you need the extra weight for snow plowing. I would say the tracks almost double the weight of the Blizzard so motor and speed controller upgrades are mandatory. Sabertooths seem to be the best and cheapest to power 2 motors and also be able to use a pistol grip radio. I have the SR and bought metal tracks but only ran them for about 2 hours. I like my speed and also ditched the plow. I run Traxxas Titan 380's with my Sabertooth. Sweet combo and it can also handle the metal tracks better. This was a great video and I know old but I wanted to comment anyways! I am from BC Canada! Great white north, eh!! :)
The blizzard definitely needed the steel trax because I have them on mine and a traxxas velenion brushless motor and speed control and its plenty of power I love it it will do wheelies no problem and wheelies in reverse also but I don't have a Plow unfortunately but I'm glad u made this video we need more on the blizzard please
For plowing yeah the metal tracks are the way to go. For trail runs plastic is the way to go. I just ordered my blizzard and I'm waiting to decide what I want to do with mine. Whether or not I want to plow or run it on the trails. Metal tracks might come next winter. My scx10 has a plow but it just catches everything and trips forward. I've fabricated so many over the years so we'll see what I decide to do.
I know this is two years old. I am thinking of spraying my metal track with the wire insulation rubber coating. What do you think? It goes on pretty thin. It should give plenty of traction and grip.
You can use two Dynamite Mini Fuze Brushless Motors with ESC Combo found on Horizon Hobby. 370 size. You can also get machined Metal Wheels and Drive Sprocket on Ebay ! :>)
do the metal tracks fit on the blizzard ev/ep too? still have the old one with brakes and single electric motor but wheels and plastic tracks look the same.
Being disabled, I can't really shovel anymore and I can't run a snowblower, this idea of having one of these push snow is great. I have a guy to do my driveway, but not where I walk, this would take care of that and living in the northeast, we get snow, and even if I go out and hit the snow when an inch or two is on the ground at a time, perfect.
Hi I run latrax 28 turn 370 motors the stock ones in the rally and other latrax cars, also you can use Dromida M370 MotorsSee my channel... the blizzard gets 2 times the stock speed with the latrax motors... with metal tracks I use 15 tooth pinions but with those metal tracks I would try 12 tooth pinions or smaller on it for more power and it will still be much faster than stock.good luck with it.
A buddy of mine runs traxxas 7075 Titan 380 18T brushed 1/16 scale motors with18 toth pinions and uses a sabertooth dual 12A 6V-24V R/C regenerative motor driver if you haven't figured anything out
I find it just as easy to change tracks by removing the rear wheel. For me it is easier than taking that tensioner screw off. Either way is finicky I guess.

@@Triplethreatindustries the tracks need to be designed with deeper wells for the wheels and less angle of the tabs so they can't slide off.

Thanks. Great video. Now I'm ready for some snow.
sorry to see there aren't any more Blizzard videos? You do a good job!
Check out RC Hobbiest Extreme, I am currently getting ready to upgrade my Blizzard FR.
Thanks for the info I'm gonna grab those motors and look for a sabor tooth ESC
+RELENTLESS RC I am running them on the stock esc,,,, gear them down with the metal tracks and you may be fine.

Why don't you do two 540's direct drive. They fit with (of course) little room behind each other, but they fit
Hello do you know If they will fit to the old original Blizzard from the 90s ?
Love your Video's.
andrew richey wow man thank you so much!!

Does it matter which side the holes are on for the tracks when you put them on?
Looks like you can use traxxas anodized kits on that sucker to lmao. For the tensioners...
Will these tracks fit the Nitro blizzard ?
yes
MF RC are you going to make some new videos on this channel?? you got a new sub
FYI you just have to unscrew the rear road wheel much Easier and you don’t have to mess about 🙃
The rubber on the metal tracks did start to dissolve and falling apart after a couple of years for me..making them useless.

Do they make rubber tracks for them
Fishnfreak04 not that I know of currently

i like old time kyosho blizzard EV is better model in 1980's...
i have 2 kyosho blizzards
I looked, you cannot even find them used.
I have the old one too. The only issues are the braking systen and the little metal chains which sometimes snap over.
Dead channel.... sad😭
