This episode brought to mind a joke. Do you want to hear it? ... Okay, I'll tell it anyway: Finland's president Paasikivi was asked in an interview "Is there anything worse than having a 1300 km border with Russia?" - Well, only one thing does come to mind: NOT having a 1300 km border with Russia.
Hilarious firestarting show! Wheres my sticks?!! Up north you just do it,no discussions who,how with but fire just gets started. Looks like circus on bikes arrived... Super funny.
Mitch, that’s not a magnesium rod you’re using, it’s ferrocerium. You’ll have more luck with it if you pull the rod away from the striker instead of pushing the striker down the rod. Keep the striker where it is and pull the rod towards you. You can also strike loads of little sparks quickly with baby scrapes, that sometimes works well too.
About the WW2 monument: The Soviet troops attacked in the winter 1939-40, but they were not properly prepared for the freezing weather. They thought it would be a quick operation through Finland. Instead, thousands of Russian soldiers lost their lives in this one battle in the middle of snowy forests. Many of them simply froze to death. A lot smaller group of Finnish soldiers stop them, these guys were protecting their own homes.
Great vid thank you ! You’ve probably noticed by now you get good mobile internet coverage wherever you are in Finland. In fact it’s good all the way to Nordkapp. Pretty amazing when you consider how sparsely populated it is. Looking forward to the next episode, Finland really is a bikers playground !!
So nice to see your growing love for Finland and Scandinavia. My fovorit motorcycle destination. So different than the touristic spots in southern Europe, although also beatiful.
Here we go again! You've been blessed with rather good weather prior, maybe it's about to change for a while. That's life anyways, ups and downs. Honestly, i never get tired of those views. Sure, the initial wow effects fade away with just about anything, but to these lakes, forests, the weather and there different elements i never get tired of. I think it's something coded deep inside us, to be amazed of nature and it's elements, and to be moved by the amazing vistas. Something that speaks to us beyond words.
11:00 What you saw was the inner boundary of the Finnish border zone. Not the actual border. You don't need to worry about getting in trouble, unless you don't enter the actual border zone. The authorities don't want people to be wandering in the border zone without special permit, because they would be launching false alarms of the technical surveillance near the borderline. 19:40 The sunset is past twelve, but not past midnight. Because of daylight saving time, the midnight is approx. 1 am.
Finland has an interesting history. It's great to see that you are interested! Finland was part of Sweden beginning in the 10th century until 1809 when Sweden lost Finland to Russia. A hundred years later Finland became independent but was attacked again by Russia during WW2. The Winter War is best known but then came the Continuation War. My grandfather was wounded on 12 July 1942 at 54.SotaS and died on 2 August. Thanks to DNA tests and genealogy, I have found about 20 relatives who died on the Finnish-Russian front during WW2.
Loving your vids of the latest adventure!!! I'm a new subscriber!! One tiny point i think would improve the production........ the ending music!! it doesn't suit the nature of your work ( and i know the whole free you tube music versus paid for tracks issue) please use something more suitable and relaxing. Keep up the great work you guys are doing.
Discovered yr Channel as UA-cam presented it to me as I'm researching The Honda Crf 300. Have been bindgewatching your last 7 episodes. Scanning through yr channel I came across the episode where Martha opened up on anxiety and mental issues. Forgive for intruding, but carbs, of which by necessity of camping, you seem to eat a lot of, are prone to cause mental issues. The relationship is not very well known in Europe, although Dr. David Unwin in the UK may be a good start, but a lot better known in the US. I highly recommend Dr. Georgia Ede's, Harvard educated psychiatrist 's book "Change your diet, change your mind". Enjoy the rest of your trip and congratulations on the quality of the images.
If you want to experience really strange experiences on the border, there are many of them here in Poland on the border with Belarus. Strange times, strange borders.
Hi guys, you really need to take time to enjoy everything and not be on a driving mission. You memory will only be driving, unless that is what you want to achieve. If it is sorry xx 2:41
Mitch did find moose shit .It is guite easy to find everywhere in forest , but be carefull with reindeers they are guite stupide animals in roads. In Lapland there is so many roadaccidents with reindeers.
During my military service in Finland and in the lower officer school for Border Guard Jaegers in the Finnish Karelia, one of our officers of that school was killed by a bear. He run into a mother with two kids, and the bear killed him instantly. This was in the middle of the 1990:s. Su You mayby related to that occasion 👍

You're getting into a routine. Makes travelling and camping so much easier. Hope you'll find good weather in the North. Günter/Nürnberg

It's great to see you both having such a great trip. Can I suggest, if you only have one emergency beacon, that you have the rear rider carry it.
You guys are learning a lot of new things every day.
The intro gives me major sitcom vibes 😂😂 love it ❤❤❤

When in hossa, visit muikkupuro camp site. Beautiful place and very clear water. I live near it.

You can also use hand sanitizer to start fires 🔥 with a small spark ⚡️

Honestly I'd be lying if I said that Mitch doesn't remind me of Markus from detroit become human
That’s not Russia yet on the other side of the fence, there is a border zone that is about 3 kilometers wide.
I think you should do the rest of Europe again with van and bikes

What communicators do you use? They are very clear.
UK needs to slim down those number plates for motorcycles a bit. They're getting scorched by the exhaust.
Atleast they got rid of the tax discs.
Just to say. Quite a few people are ditching go pro.
I’ll let you know what brand to. When I hear it again…
DJI Osmo action?
@@Kauntti that’s the one 👍👍

Well, did you find lot of "Russian influence" in Finland?
Eiiii,älkää menkö venäjälle,eikä vahingossakaan rajan yli😅
What ferries did you use?.
Oulu is pronounced O-Lew :) Just a heads up because no one will understand what you mean with your current pronounciation :D
"Ou-luu"
I am never buying GoPro again. They are e like KTM. All brand. No reliability.
What other brand would u recommend i also hate my gopros
@@drinhadri7579 dji osmo action 4 its the best action camera hands down
I don’t understand why you are heading towards bad weather whilst being vulnerable on a bike. Please try and stay safe xx
Why are you so afraid of Russia?
How Finns see today's Russia: no trust in a neighbor who is unpredictable and aggressive
