I have always wanted to cannonball, Musketball, or 2904 the country. As an Alaskan, I have always wanted to meet Ed or Ficarra up here on the 4th of July, and find out what I need to do to be able to run from the red ball to the portofino. That's a goal of mine before I die!
The Porsche 917. My favorite car as a child. I had an R/C car version and it DOMINATED my neighborhood from the age of 6 until about 10! That story may very well be my all time favorite car story. Someone needs to make a movie about the REAL story of the 917!!
Just wanted to personally thank yall (Vinwiki /Ed and team ) for these car stories , are currently helping me through some extremely dark times always a really positive escape for a car guy hoping to do builds and drive again soon. Cheerz keep em coming please.
Ed and Doug Demuro are the only two "presenters" I can think of that can speak entire paragraphs without taking a breath. Do they actually breathe through their ears? (hey ladies!) Happy 2023 everyone. Be good to each other, please. - Ed on the Ridge
Excellent! Show, the sound shutout at 1:54 minutes. You made up for it with the Shelby video! You had my wife and I smiling at each other, and I appreciate that!
I don't have any favourites yet I like what is presented, the experience people have to go through acquiring vehicles is much harder than rocket science because of greed and lies 🙅♂️
Thanks Ed, John, Travis and everyone in the Cannonball family for a great year. You have really helped me a lot through this difficult year and I wish everyone a great new year.
This is how I became a car guy. Saw Formula 1 on Netflix. My baby son loves it. Start looking for the coolest super car sounds because my son likes to hear them and imitate them. UA-cam realizes I like race cars. I see a documentary on the Mazda 787b. Then I discover the treasure trove of Vinwiki stories: Now Im wondering what my first car is gonna be. Been thinking about what car company adopted the first true 6speed Manual in a production car and honestly forgot about the 959. It may have 6 forward gears but it's just an over glorified 5speed with a utility gear! OMO the Bugatti EB110 SS has the first true 6speed Manual, so realistically nothing before 1992👍
I have been watching from day one I'm so happy to see how far you have come nice job and I hope you all have a good new year and can't wait to see what's going to happen in 2023.
I think I just added a NEW family tradition in our house. In addition to homemade pizza & rice krispie treats we will now spend NYE with that fraternity of lunatics-our VinWiki family!
We love you ed!! I watched all of vinwiki. i can't afford any of the cars I've been a fan of on vinwik, but i fell in love with the first ever car trek since day one. I'm grateful for the hoovies garage. Tevarish wrench every day and Ed just being Ed lol.thank you guys for giving me every reason to be on UA-cam.
Bro, I cannot tell you how many fender liners and skid plates I have went through on my Lexus GS. My original panels were the tough stuff, but was beat to shit and barely holding on at this point, so I ended up ordering the current 3GS under panels, which were after the refresh. They ended up being very flimsy and they ripped back out at high speeds pretty easily after replacing them, and after numerous times, trying to repair it and reinstall it which, they ripped out again. Eventually, they were done , so I started looking for the original ones like my car came with which were much stronger. I found out that the earlier 3GS silent generation are much harder, stiffer plastic and doesn’t give. Moral of the story: trial and erro😂
Was there ever a 959 convertible? I know there was a white one that was wrecked and rebuilt into a convertible. I keep driving through my neighborhood and seen a red 959 convertible, it’s parked there since I was 6 and I’m 29 now, just collecting dust in the garage.
The F40 is 100% cursed. I'm not one for evil spirits and ghouls in the night but if ever a car has some bad energy attached to it it's that one. Wouldn't want it if you gave it to me.
It seems that the more expensive yhe car, the less usable it is. Most of them seem to require MAJOR mechanical servicing every 5 minutes, or they just can't cope with daily driving!. If a car costs a gazillion dollars, it really should be fit for purpose. There are plenty of four-pot cheap cars that can, if not exceed, then, at least match so-called supercars in everything but looks, even though beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. I guess that common sense and money don't make comfortable bedfellows!
Here in Colombia you pay well over 50% in import and taxes, gas is around $4.5 a gallon (California level price), all parts and costs the double no matter if you buy them here or you import them, found out the hard way after buying $2000 worth of parts on FCP Euro for my 2006 E90 325i thinking I was saving $1000 as the parts here were around $3000 just to end up paying $970 in import duties and taxes, insurance here costs around $1800 a year for the E90, while the car cost me $9000, and the list goes on. In a nutshell, owning a car here in Colombia, in all aspects, from buying it to maintaining it, costs well above 50% more than in the US, and I'm not even going to the fact that minimum wage here is $250 a month, lol
We need more Doug in 2023. He’s one of the founding father of VINwiki’s UA-cam. Him and rabbits playlist are timeless i Can Watch them over and over. They’re hilarious to watch/listen too.
Thats so awesome! I am so happy that he finally got his Dad's car back, or should I say his SISTER?! I get it Brother, I really do! Too bad the Wifey didn't go for it, but I suppose your still happy that you kept your Dad's car!
I mean... he was so excited to see the car but.. I just don't understand why his father didn't try to sell it to him first.? Did he not let his dad know that he wanted the car?
"It was 800-1000 miles" I just heard 800,000 miles away and I was like, coulda swore you said Washington to California, and then I realized what he actually said lmao.
16:35 It was in fact. Just because YOUR definition of "Rally" includes nothing but "dirt" back roads and "logging" roads, does not mean that is all "Rally" is theres quite a few LEGENDARY rally courses.. That are 100% Paved Tarmac... Monte Carlo anyone? Granted its often covered in snow and Ice... But there IS tarmac under it...

That Ferrari he did the cylinder compression leak down test can be accurate for the compression but to trace the actual issue causing the leaks can be a headache. Is it the engine block cylinders piston rings?, Is it carbon building up the valve seats or valves itself? A head gasket? Ohhhh the shit I had to go through assessing an engine's condition before rebuilding them for a customer, especially if they were tight on a budget. No longer in engine machinist rebuilding, driving instructor and glad for it 🙅♂️😜🤣
I am so confused why his Dad would sell the car and not give him a chance to buy. Just such a strange move. The time and effort this guy went through bc of his Dad’s odd decision…odd without more info
Oh no rich guy had to sell his auction bought Ferrari for cheaper because he didn’t research the car then plays victim😢 poor little guy i surely hope he can recover
What I've learned over the years is that 90% of rich people (90% of the people on this channel and all the others) come from rich parents 🤔 My parents failed me🤦🏻♂️😂. Rich kids have a lot more confidence, able to go to college, get loans from family to start their businesses, etc. I've also learned they all say the same thing "yeah, but I did it all by myself, my family didn't help me" which is 100% not true. They think because they got a $10k loan and had to pay it back that, that means they did it all by themselves 🤦🏻♂️ or their parents paid for their college 🤦🏻♂️ literally every rich kid or person that came from semi wealthy families say this

LOVE John Ficarra stories. He NEEDS his own channel or more stories on Vinwiki. Thanks for a great year and to many more.
He does , Ficarra Classics
RIP Ken Block 43
Way too young and sadly passed away doing what he loved😢
The story about the GT350 is great. Just goes to show that there’s still some really great and passionate people out there

Pretty sure we parked next to that 69 Shelby in the early 80's with our 70 GT 500 at a Shelby show at a park in Indiana.

i cried when the story of the audi quattro came up. its wonderful to see how much he loved that car. he was ready to fight with god for it.

I was lucky enough to see a 959 driving in Beaver Creek, Colorado last year. Still trying to figure out which mansion garage it’s parked in…
