Two things I want to add. Instead of going to the airport for your interview, you can find a Staples store that has a TSA pre check in it. Just search their site. Also, depending on which credit card you have, they may cover the full cost. I went to the Staples site and made an appointment for the very next day. Then I got my TSA number the following day. And capital one covered the cost.
Just did my enrollment a few days ago at a Staples near my home. Made an appointment, showed up on time, had a few people in line ahead of me, but the process was easy and painless. When I made my online application, the web form showed me a list of nearby locations where I could make an appointment to complete my enrollment. I chose the Staples because it was the closest, but there were plenty of others.
My wife and I filled out the online application on 4/26/24. Went for our in person interview on 4/29/24 and got our KTN’s on 5/1/24. Couldn’t believe how smoothly the whole process went.
TSA PreCheck is a life saver. I waited to get Global Entry with it, and I applied on January 31st, got approved a week later, and then scheduled my interview scheduled for April 1st. All of that waiting was SO worth it! I hadn't traveled in two years, but right when i got it, I've been a frequent traveler. I love it so much! Anybody wanting to get PreCheck, do get it!
She supposedly has the backlog, but I got mine in two days. Then was able to get my interview on reentry of the US month later, it took like five minutes.
I can't fly without it. CLEAR was nice but Pre Check is a lifesaver. As much as I fly I needed this more than I thought. I didn't get until last year when we had a long assignment in Boston and it has been outstanding
Another thing to keep in mind is that the TSA precheck works because they do a thorough background check, so if you have any "problems" you probably won't be cleared, so don't bother.
TSA PreCheck is now a few buck cheaper - it's $78 for five years, not $85. That's not a big difference, but it's worth noting. After all, how often do prices come down for anything these days? I enrolled in PreCheck for the first time this week. I was really surprised how fast the whole process was. * Submitted the application over the web on 1/8 * Went to local Staples for an enrollment appointment on 1/11 * Received an email with my KTN on 1/12 The enrollment appointment at Staples went smoothly and quickly. I had a few people ahead of me in line, but I was in and out in less than thirty minutes. To review and verify all of the info I submitted in the application, have a photo and fingerprints taken, and pay the fee, all took about ten minutes.
The video was very helpful. We just got our TSA pre-check. I wasn't sure how to proceed once we get to the airport. All the other videos are about TSA lines. THANKS!
The 3-5 day wait (up to 60) is not until after the interview. The way this is spoke is as you do your interview and then immediately get your KTN. It's sign up online, schedule interview, do interview, and then wait for 3-5 days (up to 60)
You can download the MyTSA app which will give you current wait times as well as typical wait times for the date and time you are flying at to give you a better idea of when you should get to the airport.
For domestic flights it's not necessary to add your middle name but for international flights it should match exactly as the name listed on your passport.
That's great! It took me 3 months to get approved and then another 3 months to get an interview when I applied so I am glad to see the approval getting quicker now.
I'll give you the real reason for tsa pre check. People who have tsa pre check are frequent fliers and know how to go through fast and easy. The regular tsa line is held up by people who don't have their belongings together, items not out of bags etc. Wich holds up the line.
I work in airlines ,you can add it in 2 ways you can have the airline confirmation access online of the said airlines and add it in the traveller name or login to your frequent flyer program and your KTN or pass ID so you won't add it on your booking everytime you have flight as long as link it in advance on trip so to assure you will be tsa pre approved ones you checking online if applicable on your ticket , by the way it will also help you earn your miles so you won't miss the credit you will be earning on your airlines of choice .😊
Just a note. For my TSA application process, I interviewed at 1240 on Wednesday and at 0043 on Friday I received an approval email. Possibly, the fast approval could be bc I do work for the government.
If you're not a US citizen, then the only way to get TSA precheck is to apply for Global Entry, which is available to nationals of a limited number of countries around the world. Being a Dutch citizen, I applied for Global Entry early July and was actually conditionally approved on August 1st. I should be able to do the Enrollment on Arrival interview when I arrive in Orlando on November 9.
My dad is not a citizen and he was able to obtain TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) and you can use that instead of TSA Precheck. He is a permanent resident though so if you don't have residency then you'd need global entry.
So happy to hear the videos have been helpful to you. TSA pre-check is better and a lot cheaper. Clear expedites verifying your identity but not the screening process. You will still have go through the regular screening process unless you also have TSA pre-check.
You do not have to take out any of those items. You can keep them in your bag or if they don't have any metal in them you can keep them on you as you walk through the metal detector.
Do I have to have my PreCheck approved before booking my flight? I am going to book my flight in the next week but I’m just now learning about this PreCheck video
Your Precheck will need to be approved before you can start using it but you can always book now and then add it to your flight later once you do get the approval.
Hello, thank you for your informative video. I'm traveling tomorrow and I'm very nervous. As an international student what to I need to know before going through TSA. I'm traveling domestically
Hi Janet! I have a video on how to navigate the whole airport process including how to go through airport security. I think you will find value in it and will help answer your question in detail. You can find that part at minute 7:14 in the video 👉 ua-cam.com/video/3BrPg4fVnOg/v-deo.html
TSA did fraud with me because I have TSA precheck but I gone in standard security line after they seen in my boarding pass that its showing its written TSA precheck. After they seen TSA precheck they send me in normal security check not TSA precheck and there I want to give my shoes jacket everything. So TSA or that airport security didn't do good with me.
Hey Ben, I will be flying this weekend in January 2023 for the 1st time using my TSA Pre-Check. I was approved in 2022. I understand that I don't have to remove my shoes or belt. QUESTION: What about removing my Cellphone and wallet from my person? Also, do I need to turn off my phone before walking through Security? Thank you in advance.
As long as your phone and wallet don't have any metal on it you can keep it on you as you are going through the metal detector. My phone has a metal case so I always have to put mine in my bag but I keep my wallet on me. You don't need to turn off your phone either.
Not for TSA precheck. You just have to bring in either your passport or a valid driver's license and birth certificate. During the in person appointment they will take your fingerprints and ask you some questions.
You will get what's called a Known Traveler Number. You will need to add that number to your flight reservation. Then once you check-in for your flight and receive your boarding pass, the boarding pass itself will display TSA precheck on it.
Hello. I’m starting to travel more. My only concern is that I have a felony on my record from 18 years ago and it’s the only blemish on my background. I would love to get a global or tsa pre check.
You should be able to apply for TSA pre check. They would only deny you if the felony has occurred in the last 7 years. Global Entry would be harder to get with the felony on your record.
tsa precheck did not work for me, both airports i was at this last week did not provide tsa precheck lines, and they made me go through all the tsa requirements as a normal passenger, and once they discovered that I have a replaced knee as well as other meteal pins and screens inside my body from surgeries they told me, i will never be tsa precheck cleared and will always have to do the regular screening process, wish i would have known all this before i dorve 100 miles for a tsa precheck interview and paid my 85 dollars that I will never be able to use
That doesn’t seem right. What airports did you go through? I am almost positive you can still go through the precheck lines even if you have surgical metal implants in your body. You may have to get a pat down at most but you shouldn’t have to go through the regular screening. Hopefully someone else can respond who can verify this but I would try again.
I have a metal knee. I did have to get a Pat down going through TSA pre check but it was minimal. Took her longer to explain why. Everything else was just like his video
@@marshaseibel3050 thanks for sharing your experience! I thought that was the case but I appreciate you taking the time to comment and help answer the question.
