Love the end effect, about half way through I thought ugh!! Glad I watched to the end, im moving house and want some new art work in some rooms this just might be the way to go, thanks
I found a great way to melt crayon. I went to thrift store and bought a skinny flat iron for hair. It melts it very fast. I dripped the melted crayon where I wanted it then took a hair dryer and melted it. This way I dd not have to glue the crayon to edge of canvas. Saved a lot of time.
Great Dollar store ART...first time here...coming back for sure! Great painting....or melting as the case may be! :) Your first step silhouette really cool! TY
Thank You! I am currently working on a second video for the background. I will post a side link to the steps left out of this one, once it has been completed. Thanks again for watching!
O.M.GEE!! This is so ultra inspiring, I'm must go start my own melted crayon canvas stat!!! Wow, what an incredible talent you are! Thank you so much for sharing it with the world! So awesome! :)
I really meant it :) I actually did try my own canvas and it did not come out nearly as fabulous and yours, but it was a great jumping off point for me and I love the melted crayon medium! Lots of possibilities! This is why I appreciate your inspiration so much--I may never have attempted such a technique had you not chose to share it and that is powerful and super cool to me! So thank you! And keep up the great work!
The spots are created by using the ruler to pull the wax then allowing it to dry. Then re-heating it again with the heat gun blower turned to high. The blowing of the heat gun should be enough to move the wax just enough to create the spots. I am working on a video right now of the second half, and I will try to do something similar and include that step. Thanks for watching.
This is a great technique and I have a bag of old crayon bits someone gave me lining around here somewhere. After you spread the wax with the ruler did you do anything to the original drawing or did it just show through the wax like magic?
It just shows through aslong as it is dark enough, and the crayolas are spread thin enough. There is a followup video that has a bit more on the technique. :) Thanks for watching!
I am currently putting together a small studio to continue the vids. I do realize that these really early ones were a bit shaky, but the hd ones (with tripod) will be along soon. Thanks for your patience in the matter. Cheers!
Would it be possible to tape the crayons to the canvas and remove them later? Like I want a picture with the crayon affect but I don't want the finished product to have the crayons on the canvas in the end, is this possible?
It should be. Even a hair dryer would work for this. There are two other methods as well, one of which is using a glue-gun to literally draw on the canvas with textured wax. The problem with that method is it takes a lot longer and is very brittle. The other method involves melting crayons into coconut oil (1/2tsp per inch) and you can actually use a paint brush to paint it on. It has the consistancy of an oil pastel. The down side with that method is you must use a clear matte coating over top as finisher, as the coconut oil will cause it to run in the summer. I will be doing vids over those two methods some time in the next week. Thanks for watching!
By using a ruler to scrape the crayon as it melted, it made the crayon layer thin and the black of the marker show through. ua-cam.com/video/ge-SrFYLWt0/v-deo.html is the technique used for that. Thanks! :)
I did used to paint, more abstract art. I resumed it again recently. M not a great artist but I feel peaceful painting and listening to music at the same time. I enjoy doing art handicrafts too, once in a while when inspired.
Will this work if the crayon pieces are put in a hot glue gun, or is the crayon too soft? I know it will take much longer, but I'm just wondering if it will work.
It will work, but it will ruin the hot glue gun. It creates a very drippy effect and the colors don't meld as much but it definitely does work. If you would like I would be happy to create a video of how it works and looks for you over this weekend.
heyyyy you there what do you did in the midlle qw didnt saw the Video is not complete what happen after the colours are going to be hot...? explain pl.
awesome idea / techniques / results for minimal costs. however, I suffer from motion sickness and literally got a weeeeeeeee bit dizzy / nauseous from all the camera motion. please make arrangements to avoid it in the future and I will watch more / subscribe. thank you in advance.
+muskndusk Your average heatgun is 1516 Watt.or 1.516KW The project at the most takes 20 minutes worth of electricity so .33 hours. So that adds up to 0.50028 kilowatt-hours. KW to kilowatt-hours calculation: The energy E in kilowatt-hours (kWh) is equal to the power P in kilowatts (kW), times the time period t in hours (hr): E(kWh) = P(kW) × t(hr) Currently, Xcel customers pay 3.1 cents per kWh for "Residential General." When you add up all the other adjustments and fees on your bill, Xcel customers are currently paying 8.2 cents per kWh. So at MOST, the electricity is costing 4.5 cents
***** Fuel and power are generally more expensive in the UK: fuel is heavily taxed which leads to higher power costs (gas and electricity). US fuel seems so cheap to us Brits.
The most important part was the scraping and it was edited out. The heat gun melting crayons part should be cut yet it was included in full... Wasted a good tutorial.
Maybe instead of drawing on it you should of drew it on a separate paper then glued it down and took it off at the end for a more tidied look...........then an gain just my opinion
Love the end effect, about half way through I thought ugh!! Glad I watched to the end, im moving house and want some new art work in some rooms this just might be the way to go, thanks
Very cool. Keep em' comin'! Art teachers are always looking for projects on the cheap to share with their students!

Did this last night. Used your technique to make a birthday card. Awesome!
very easy to understand! I will enjoy doing it with my daughters. xx👍👍

Thank You!
Great artwork! Great ideas. Great instructions. Thanks for sharing your creative talents!
I had my doubts as the crayons wee melting but your finished canvas rocks! :) THANKS for the inspiration.
Love it, I have been looking for a painting in reds, going to give this a try, thank you, very much.
I love this please show me how u did the background specifically. Another video would be great :)
Thank You! I am currently working on a second video for the background. I will post a side link to the steps left out of this one, once it has been completed. Thanks again for watching!
I'll try just once. Will be my unique piece of art using melted crayons:) I love art :)

Here is the background technique as well as the gluegun method. :) Thanks for the request!
Crayon Art: More Methods
So beautiful and amazing
I have one word for u , that word is WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
O.M.GEE!! This is so ultra inspiring, I'm must go start my own melted crayon canvas stat!!! Wow, what an incredible talent you are! Thank you so much for sharing it with the world! So awesome! :)
I really appreciate your comment. It truly made my day!

I would love another video, i'm wondering how you made those white spots to the left. Is that just by using the ruler?
The spots are created by using the ruler to pull the wax then allowing it to dry. Then re-heating it again with the heat gun blower turned to high. The blowing of the heat gun should be enough to move the wax just enough to create the spots. I saw tho sand I showed my mom and now we both want to do this so thanks so much for sharing this!!
*this *and
I have never seen anything like this. How interesting!
wow this is pretty cool! the way the colors mix in the end is amazing. thanks for this video!

You can also buy canvas at BigLots. That's where I get mine. They sell them in packs of 3.
This looks amazing! Now I know what to do with all my old crayons!
Your voice is very relaxing. You should try doing some ASMR videos. :) Try whispering while to craft.
Beautiful artwork!
Thanks!
So the paint can go over the silhouettes and they'll still show up?
Uau, você é muito criativo. Seu trabalho ficou muito bonito.
Aye! Let me bum off of ya!😂 I love the new idea ! I always see the rainbow thingy. I love your idea tho (:
so you just melted the rest of the crayons and scraped downwards or did you blow the middle to kind of spread it and then scrape down?
I did some thing like this. It was really fun.
Sweet! I will do this. 👍😃
This was beautiful! I added this video to my favorites :)
awesome! love it
This is beautiful
Love your vids but getting car sick ...
friendly request for that other camera you mentioned having!
I am currently putting together a small studio to continue the vids. I do realize that these really early ones were a bit shaky, but the hd ones (with tripod) will be along soon. Thanks for your patience in the matter. Cheers!
I find your voice very soothing
Would it be possible to tape the crayons to the canvas and remove them later? Like I want a picture with the crayon affect but I don't want the finished product to have the crayons on the canvas in the end, is this possible?
get an extended paper and after melting the crayons cut it off zoo that you have the perfect size again
Mizz FlaireBeauty
Hmm that's not really what I meant, but thanks
You can tape the crayons, but be careful if you use a heat gun as you run the risk of melting the tape.
Rastlosen
Ok, will it be easier to remove the tape if you just use a hair drier?
I have a crafting heat gun would that be ok to use or not hot enough though it can get pretty hot?
It should be. Even a hair dryer would work for this. There are two other methods as well, one of which is using a glue-gun to literally draw on the canvas with textured wax. Here is a method for using crayons as an actual paint... With A Brush!!!
Paint Made From Crayons
how did you get the black to clean up after the crayons melted over it?
+Joshua Winter I took a ruler and scraped the crayon while it was still hot to allow the black image through.
How did you left the man in Black and not Full of crayon?
Sry for my english :D
Realy beautiful!
By using a ruler to scrape the crayon as it melted, it made the crayon layer thin and the black of the marker show through. ua-cam.com/video/ge-SrFYLWt0/v-deo.html is the technique used for that.
Thanks! :)
if i wanted to do the project in my sketchbook, would that work? or can crayon art only be done on canvas?
You run into the problem of the image breaking apart as the page bends. You also may burn the paper. I would use something that wont be moved often.
ok, then. THANK U SO MUCH XD
That's amazing good job
Cool idea!
I did used to paint, more abstract art. I resumed it again recently. M not a great artist but I feel peaceful painting and listening to music at the same time. I enjoy doing art handicrafts too, once in a while when inspired.

Thanks, that would be great
that is so cool!!
Amazing!
can I use black pant?
heyyyy you there what do you did in the midlle qw didnt saw the Video is not complete what happen after the colours are going to be hot...? explain pl.
LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!
Have you ever collected and painted with old makeup that friends and family don't want anymore?
why you didnt show us how you do for this painting with the rule? we didnt saw show all please.
i bought the adhesive glue but it says its flamable ?? is it safe to use it with a blowdryer??
Its what I have always used, and I use the industrial heat gun, so I wouldnt be too concerned about it. Obviously be careful, but it should be fine.
This is fun. Thank you!
Hey, aren't you that guy from Through a Devils Eyes?
This is actually really good lol amazing
The camera is horrible. And I'd have liked to see the scraping with the ruler as well as redrawing the outline with the marker.
jump to 3:16 to actual video.
Awesomeness!!!
Thanks!
well well cant hate on that good job.
I really like your work but I got rather motion sick from watching cus the camera was moving alot :(
nice art
awesome idea / techniques / results for minimal costs. however, I suffer from motion sickness and literally got a weeeeeeeee bit dizzy / nauseous from all the camera motion. please make arrangements to avoid it in the future and I will watch more / subscribe. thank you in advance.
Hey buddy what did you use to draw the man ?
Just a plain black permanent marker. One of the dollarstore off brands of sharpie.
Love it
awesome...
man that is so kewl! xD
Nice!
so cool
Do you add some type of finish to it ?
isaiah harrison clear spray varnish works well and so does liquid matte.
Ok thanks . great video BTW
Thank you!
If your doing a art video like this Use a tripod
+Irish Liberty I saw them at the dollar store 😊
show us how to paint without melting the crayons.
Am I the only one who saw the menthol Pall Mall cigarettes at 2:33?
Totally an art-supply, but alas it does double the cost... ;)
A canvas for a buck.... Ha, where i live i can't find it under 6$
On of the vids once I'm finished moving the studio will be how to make a good sized canvas for around 3$
Rastlosen k
in London Ontario at the dollar store they are 1,00 to 3,00
*.* :3 i love it
Thanks!
I love it.but, you used crayons and you said candle's....🎄
fricking cool
good general tutorial, but the camera work is making me nauseous
Why does he keep calling the crayons, candles?
Because the non driving part of the video was shot around 4 am after making candles o.o
Wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Interesting
good
This isn't that cheap if you factor in the cost of the electricity used.
+muskndusk Your average heatgun is 1516 Watt.or 1.516KW The project at the most takes 20 minutes worth of electricity so .33 hours. So that adds up to 0.50028 kilowatt-hours.

+Dollar Store Artwork Fair enough, though power is more expensive in the UK. I suppose it depends upon how often the heat gun is used.

You obviously don't pay the bills!

Philippines is poor so even though it's cheap we are finding ways to pay it
To way too long to get to the point and the camera action made me sea sick
How did this make you SEA sick
No offense.. But you sound like my mean music teacher My Wilson
Another life maybe, I done my share of music but it took along time for me to be able to enjoy music again after one specific music "teacher"
Kyleigh Murphy 😠😠😠what's it to you?😠😠😠😠get a life snowflake!
did anyone else see the cigarettes?
So what??? People smoke!
Can't help it but what a sexy voice!
The most important part was the scraping and it was edited out. The heat gun melting crayons part should be cut yet it was included in full... Wasted a good tutorial.
ho cambiato perche mi sono addormentata
dovete incomminciare subito senza troppe parole
coooo
dickblick.com always has amazing deals on canvas...
Maybe instead of drawing on it you should of drew it on a separate paper then glued it down and took it off at the end for a more tidied look...........then an gain just my opinion
So so. 2 out of 5. The drawing hurt it. Lights OK but not the man. A couple kissing or holding hands would have a much better outcome.
good crayon art! but plz don't talk to much.... it really bother me.
troppe parole uno si annoia
wasting peoples time
