- This is a recently discovered TV Pilot for Chicken Little supposed to be aired around 2006. Show was cancelled after the film following the series Chicken Little flopped at box office in 2005. Disney was then saved by the theatrical release of Meet The Robinsons 2 years later in 2007.

@abrahamcortina6322 I too believe Viva Piñata is pretty good for the time as well. While the animation at times feels more like a game, which makes sense because of the game that came out along with the show, the cartoony movements and the characters exaggerated faces are still pretty impressive. The only other computer animation I’ve seen use exaggerated animations that release around the time were Madagascar and ironically Chicken Little with one of them working well and the other too cursed.

Now a few people have found the full versions of the two Uncle Gus Cartoon Network pilots in English and posted them onto UA-cam.
The film's poor critical reception and the management shakeup at Disney Animation a year later cracked this egg before it could cook.
Well, that would explain why this show didn't get made.

A lawsuit by Viacom and Nickelodeon went through much of the film's troubled production, and the creators of ADWSS were sued for copyright.

Welp, like my other favorite Non-Pixar guilty pleasures such as Dinosaur and The Wild? I was the only Disney fan that ever enjoyed Chicken Little unlike the Disney fandom itself that just loves to hate on it because of that lame "Box Office" excuse, so that would be nice lol.
Sometimes it just can't happen years later, either due to changes in the artist's views, changes in management, changes in who's still working, or changes in who's still alive.
The guy who made Hey Arnold says the leaked pitch for The Pataki's is embarrassing to him now, and that he'd do it much differently if given another chance.
The guys who made Mission Hill said the Gus and Wally spinoff won't happen, and they're aiming for a continuation of Mission Hill if possible.
The new reboot of Ren & Stimpy is going to be just like the Animaniacs reboot, because management muscled all the old talent out of the writer's room, despite inviting them to work on it in the first place.

They were promised by Viacom that they'd get to write and direct, but the management reneged on that and kept shooing them out of the writers room. They thought they could atone for John K's sins, but instead they were told they were old white men, who couldn't keep up with what's "young and fresh", and management would get mad whenever they asked for what they mean by that.

idk about that. I loved chicken little movie as a kid. but I do not think I'd want it as a show... I loved lilo and stitch. amazing, underrated movie, that even adults can love and enjoy. but then they went and made an animated series... tried watching the first episode as an adult, to binge watch the rest... couldn't finish the first. had to close out of it.
I think it's great when they make movies you can enjoy as a child AND an adult. lilo and stitch is that.

Since it was made 2006, the animation doesnt look bad but just ugly compared other mid-late cgi animated 00s films like robots, ratatouille and up.

Oddly curious to how the TV show could have been. At best, it could have held potential to tell a story about fixing the disastrous relationship between Chicken Little and his father after the events of the movie.

Funnily enough the animation studio that did the animation for this pilot, DQ Entertainment (formerly DataQuest) also did animation for some episodes of the Penguins of Madagascar show on Nick.

pretty much the only documentation of this pilot's existence was a 2022 reddit (r.i.p) post where someone claimed that back in 2006 they were part of the kidzeyes program, and they were asked to choose between this pilot and phineas and ferb for which one they liked more
apparently kidzeyes (the website where this pilot was shown) was still a thing until february 11 of THIS YEAR, despite the fact its website looked straight out of 2011. and there was one called teenseye that users would get transfered to when they turned 13 that either still exists, or was just completely forgotten by the owners, with the later being more likely, as registration is closed, and teenseyes somehow looks even more dated than kidzeyes did, like it hasn't been touched since like 2001, as well as latinoeyes, a spinoff for hispanic americans

Actually, Chicken little turned out to be a success at the Box office. But it Didn't do well with the Critics, and understandbly so, due to the mean-spirited tone of the movie.
Seeing this for the first time, This could have turned things around for Chicken little.
Even the sequel especially tv pilot was cancelled and the game Chicken Little Ace in Action seems more continuely from the last scene from movie.

Fun Fact: When John Lasseter was the president of Walt Disney Animation Studios (back then called Walt Disney Feature Animation), the first thing he did was cancel all sequels and follow-ups to previous movies, and this show is no exception.
He wanted the studio to focus on new projects, and not those that were already in development by his predecessor.

I remember voice actor Roger Craig Smith talking about the canned Chicken Little TV show on a podcast. He voiced the pig character Runt of the Litter in several episodes before it got canned because the movie bombed.

This probably would have released within the next year while A Day with Wilbur Robinson or Meet The Robinsons as renamed, was scheduled for a 2006 release while still in production at Disney Animation, but Chicken Little is one of the main factors as why Disney was doing CGI without Pixar’s guidance, while the film and A Day with Wilbur Robinson, alongside Rapunzel Unbraided, Toy Story 3 from Circle 7, and American Dog that would primarily focus on that same animation style, were in production. Chicken Little and A Day with Wilbur Robinson were given a standard production cycle, basically a 2 year production cycle, but Chicken Little’s production begin in November of 2003 while the other half, A Day with Wilbur Robinson, begun production in June of 2004, and while the latter titles, American Dog, was still in development, but was slated for either a summer 2007 or 2008 release while Rapunzel Unbraided was slated for a 2007, but pushed up to a 2009 release while Toy Story 3 from Circle 7, set for a spring 2008 release.
The wacky world of Chicken Little would, in fact fit well into a TV show as there is more opportunity to expand on the world and other worlds from the movie.

i can see why they canceled this, i was like 8 when chicken little came out and i remember it came and went without anyone in my age range ever discussing it. what a weird misstep for disney, this franchise was a nonstarter.

It didn't occur to me somehow, as a kid that this seems like it was trying to be Disney's big Toy Story killer or something like that, despite me being the target demographic. I still saw it but I didn't love it, you know? And I guess it's interesting that they were certainly expecting this to be really influential for kids like me at the time. Anyways, it's a little ironic the animation in this pilot looks better than the movie

I think the reason why it didn't happen is probably due to Disney no longer wanting anymore cartoons based off their films and focused more on original cartoons. I can tell because Lilo and Stitch: The Series and Emperor's New School got canned in 2006 and 2008.
They wouldn't go back to that again until Tron: Uprising in 2012.

This would have been cool! I really disliked the movie, but I guess some of the characters were pretty nice, so having them in a TV show with different scenarios happening each episode would've been interesting

When I was younger I used to be obsessed with the movie, and so I used to wish that it had a tv show. I never thought at one point they actually considered making that a reality. Although I now realized that the movie was pretty bad now after a rewatch, I think six year old me would've watched the crap out of the show if it was greenlit.

But basically the executives of whatever animation studio this was pitched in didn’t like it because they wanted it to be 2-D and Laika (the studio that owns ParaNorman) were teaming up with a very small animation studio, that most likely shut down due to covid.
