Damn, Link's getting pretty good. You've fought him so regularly you can legitimately see just how much he's improved.
totally, those jump r1, followed by backstepping into another r1 were very fluid. Link is quite a good player.
If you want to see a drastic difference, watch the showcase of the Grafted Blade Greatsword (episode 64). I think that's the first episode with Link in it and that's a bit sad to watch to be honest x)
@@Saggeran I watched today's fight twice, just amazed at the progress! Keep it up sneaky Link! \(^u^)/
@@barbwonderwolf Hehe, thanks =D
It feels really nice to have such positive feedback ^0^
@@Saggeran it's Link in third person xD
Worth noting that you get more out of flaming strike with a fire-infused weapon. That's because the buff adds a flat +90 fire damage. If you're using a heavy claymore doing 700 phys + 90 fire, then by the time the fire portion goes through the flat defenses it's not adding basically anything. With a fire infusion the +90 gets added on top of the existing fire damage and, due to how the flat defenses work, isn't going to get reduced much. Fire infusion also lets you use a flame physick.
It does wonders on a faith build, even if it's not the most optimal.
Don't forget the Fire Scorpion charm. The Dragoncrest Talismans more than cover for the increased damage you take
It's been quite a while but I am using this right now so my weapon is fire infused. I was just wondering do i need to boost my faith to increase in the damage? I am fairly new and very confused by it all. But I really like the art on my weapon and just want to make sure it stays effective later on or maybe doing new game plus. Thanks in advance for any tips you have.
@@scarletina5137 a pretty late response but you only need to spec in strength
one of the AoW that did not need a buff & weird why they gave it one
I'm glad they did. I spent much of this game getting pummeled, so it's nice when I finally find something that is so satisfying to use. I'm mostly a PvE player though, so I understand why PvP players would be annoyed.
I don't understand damage buffs on this AoW, but the QoL is kinda good TBH.
@@Tcrror you like it being strong as to be satisfying to use so yoy dont get pummeled while going through the game so why not use the better flaming strike known as the flame of the redmanes?
@@Tcrror PvE is so easy though :(
Technically it does slightly less damage than before 1.0.7 in pvp: the buff was concurrent with the overall damage nerf in pvp for aow. But it still does way more damage than other AoW, and it also offers great mixups.
In PvE it was indeed buffed.
This AOW is such a powerful one. One of the MAJOR reasons as to why this AOW dominated in duels/ invasions was because of its lingering hit box which allowed it to hit opponents even though they rolled away from it, and it also does a ton of damage making it very terrifying to go against, nonetheless this was an interesting showcase!
Yeah, yet this got a buff when they decided glintstone pebble, an AoW that was pretty good if you 100% spec into it but was **super** easy to dodge and only staggered vs low poise (sub 50) needed to be nerfed into utter uselessness.
Technically it was nerfed: it deals slightly less damage than before 1.0.7 and it seems the lingering hitbox is a bit smaller.
BUT that was because the damage of all AoW was lowered in pvp. Unlike other AoWs, Flaming Strike received a damage buff that increased its damage in pve and made up for most of the nerf in pvp. As a result, it is still one of the strongest ashes of war, even more so now.
I'm happy with the buff because this is the perfect aow for the longsword in my opinion. I've been making various fun builds in this game, but lately i'm craving to make a classic souls style build, the sword and shield. Flamming strike gives the longsword the damage and reach it deserves. I love the square off aow, it's powerful, but it takes forever to get to the attack stance
@@achmadtitofauzan3809 I've been doing this as well on my faith build (also longsword but I 2 hand it) and it slaughters everything in my path.
Thanks for covering this one Chase. Been playing a lot of ds3 so I haven’t really been testing any of the new stuff.
Man, awesome work!

I found it unfortunate the Beastman's Cleaver had such a short appearance because I love to use this ash on that weapon. I suppose the results are not that surprising. For me that set up is great fun. For Chase, maybe OP.
morning routine: cup of coffee, and a Chasethebro upload
Didn’t know this ash got a buff…didn’t really think it needed one lmao. Great video as usual tho. Would love to see you give Carian Grandeur a try. I’m not sure if it got a buff recently or not, but I remember hearing you make a comment about it being a hard to land ash before in a stream/video.
Hope you’re doing well today Chase :D thanks for another upload!
The "duelist" tag on people should really change to "guinea pig" for Chase. They are all just test subjects for him muhaha
the ash its so satisfying brother, easily my favorite by far
I would love to see any of the flails featured.
Great showcase as ever and a great idea to do AoW ones! Honestly, this one melts. I’ve two shot three man teams when I invaded right next to them and had the starting iFrames still using an iron greatsword. That thing claps!
They should make team invasions a thing so somone who is your summon can go into a invasions with you or just any teammate
Been working a lot haven't had time to pop in, nice to see some cool spotlights
I LOVE this ash of war. The coolness factor is on point. Great on the the Beastman Cleaver!
The flaming scythe looks so dope
you can delay the follow up too for those who haven’t messed around with that yet. it allows you plenty of time, and can be useful for gankers.
I’ve been using this aow on banished knights great sword with fire infusion. It’s really strong in duels with the potion
Never been this early before. I'll edit this comment once I actually watch the video
In that fight with Goode, that first AOW hit - I can't tell if that was the lingering hitbox and the follow-up hitting, or just the follow up. If it's just the follow up, that's a ton of damage for half the ash of war
Damn the rollcatch power of flaming strike was already great but now it looks even stronger
I like these ash of war showcases, very cool! When you're dueling with something fire-based, do you wait for it to stop raining before summoning? Noticed it wasn't raining in any of those fights which seems unusual for that area.
You can tell how many hours Chase put in the dark souls 3 because of the dark souls names for things lol. "Rings" "miracles"
It goes perfectly with the halberd in my opinion. The range and moves suits it
Hey chase I can’t remember if you did any flails in your showcases or invasion streams. Was there a reason there was t much focus on them?
You can tell Chase likes the Flaming Strike! He laughs like a mad man when he multi-kills with it >=)
Soo many diffrent weps you put flame strike on love it
Love this AoW. I'm a big fan of chilling mist too. I don't really feel like it needed a buff though 😂
the blackflame monk was the coolest build i saw yet
I love how even after the nerf to all AOW damage flaming strike still does over half of most peoples health. Thank you fromsoft very cool.
@juscbh BHUVSDSDVBHJWSDV The ash is unbalanced, yes you CAN dodge it but that doesn’t make it any more fair. The git gud attitude is not healthy for most game balancing purposes.
@@dots1761 I mean, most AoW's are pretty "broken" right now and people confuse the changes on 1.07 with the vision of the final product. It really was just groundwork and systems and a set of changes to base the next changes on it. We are still somewhat "beta" testing and we still will be on the first iteration of the colosseum pvp mode. So yeah, don't take all the stuff seriously. On another note: Imagine cutting the damage in half with the current implementation of invasions. there would be no shot to contest 3 people, so honestly, I like the high damage meta a bit more right now. DS3 had different systems and thus different numbers.
@@excaligaming2435 yeah invasions really need some fixes, removing resummoning, fixing overleveled phantoms scaling issues, and making it so you can only have 2 phantoms when you have taunters tongue active would do wonders for invasions.
Stay mad bro
@@DUES_EX me being mad has nothing to do with this, overtuned damage is still overtuned damage and nothing can change that.
found out equipping 2 fists can do more damage than 2 handing a fist, I'm working on a build with offhand cragblade fist and mainhand flaming strike fist since flaming strike is so good in invasions, I wonder if the cragblade will matter much but it seems fun at least the rock fist is funny
Good fights man.
"It's such a good zoning tool."
There's no way you learned that term from playing ONLY Souls PvP.
I'm ON to you, ChaseTheBro!!!
Almost got summon to fight chase the bro, the red phantom after Link is actually me
Sentinal set with turtle shell and that fire zweihander :)) .
This is my favorite AoW and I literally thought it needed a nerf even before this
Hey chase? Have you gotten enough trade deaths to do a compilation?
With banished knights halberd on flame art you can get over 1k ar with flame grant me strength and flaming strike
The best way to get an aggressive team off your back imo
This AoW is terrifying to fight against tbh esp against the sneakiest ones
storm stomp on double spears/lances? I may have to try that
they changed the colour of the cold frost status meter?.. looks more darker.. or maybe i am imagining it.. lol
I still don't know how the true combo works for this aow and ive been using it for awhile now. How do I get the guranteed follow up to hit?
This is basically a vigor check.
I'd love to see old souls armour in the dlc like Chester's outfit or lucatiels outfit. Even something like father Gascoigne outfit. They could even brink in trick wepons like the burial Scythe where its just a short sword until you 2 hand then it turns into a full scythe or if you 1 hand charged heavy it transforms for the attack into the full scythe 👀
I also have a feeling the dlc will be steam punk inspired
they can't put in lucatiel's armour, elden ring isn't in the same world as dark souls
@@lebron7071 they can, all they have to do is change the name and make a few tweaks it doesn't have to be exact just the likeness gotta use the creative imagination
So for my blasphemous blade/claymore dual wield strength/faith build is better to have claymore on heavy rather than flame art?
My favourite AOW, you love to see it in Chase's hands 🙌🔥 It really helped me to kill so many of the hay day colossal swords and spear/halberd abusers 🙂
always cracks me up when devs buff an already top A tier tool.
I wouldn't pvp at level 400 or higher. You'd be entering 1 shot City even if your HP is 99. It'll quickly become a game of who can land the first hit on who. I've decided to make a lower level character Just for the sake of more balance in pvp. If they give a PvP dlc hopefully they tune down the damage and make it more balanced across the board. If they can do that we could probably get some Elden Ring EVO events. That would be cool.
No one's talking about Spaceman Guts
Flaming strike is so cool
Damn you must not like the Omen Clever it’s in my opinion one of the best Curved GS in the game…
Can't believe they buffed this one lmao, was already hitting for over 1k damage if you hit the combo. Insanity
@10:30 I don't think it lingered from what I saw it looked like latency 🤣
That was fun
Wassup chase
I have a lot of trouble to dodge flaming strike, it is against all my sens that you can't roll in without taking a hit (Not the followup but the initial flame)
Maybe I'm just to much aggressive tho x)
Best way to deal with it is to trade by having more than 100 poise. That way you can tank the starting flame and hopefully stagger your opponent with a running r1/r2
How does Chase has a heavy claymore with flaming strike ? I can only do fire claymore with this AoW
This is one of those ashes you throw on a weaker weapon class so you can feel like you can do something lol.
Fire infusion with equal lvl of str and faith has highest damage
Have you tried Mantis Blade yet?
Mantis + Endure, Cragblade, Blood Blade, etc
Just specked to int for the first time and I’m not really feeling it, I went 60 int and 20 and 20 into str and dex
Wouldnt this do more dmg with a iron greatsword than claymore?
This ash is great, one of the best for invasions, and truly shines at lower levels where the fire infusion is generally better than heavy and the bonus damage is a direct buff.
At that point, lower levels, it is probably one of the most unbalanced arts and needs a nerf. Perhaps they can make it so the bonus buff depends on your weapon upgrade and strength or faith stats rather than being a flat buff?
The weapon buff is not why everyone uses it. The strong attack after the flame does a crap ton of damage and is a true combo most of the time, not to mention that the flame attack lingers for eons and is cheap as hell (the flame attack is 4 fp). It can wipe 3/4 of your health bar with ease and the damage did not need to be buffed.
The weapon buff it gives needed a duration buff tho.
GG’s to Link!
9:35 - Bosch
Here’s hoping they buff the godskin incantations next. They’re really cool and look like they should be good, but they’re honestly really slow and underwhelming even with double talismans.
jesus christ how long does that hitbox linger lmao
If you took this build to 150 you'd do incredible damage... I've been using this recently on a 50 faith 30 strength build with the Claymore; with the fire tear, faith tear, fire scorpion charm and flame grant me strength it's hitting 1400 AR. That's the weapon AR after using flaming strike, one combo kills most people I've come across
Gwyn AOW
Glint stone kriss showcase?
it's stronger than* ever my man
What's in your wondrous physick?
NO CAPE AS GOD INTENDED
To be honest, I wanna see you play with the sorceries and incantations. Much like the pyromancer build you've done recently. I would love to see what spells and weapons you would want to use together, instead of focusing on certain limitations such as weapon showcasing or ashes of war. ALTHOUGH I'm always here to watch these, keep up the great content!
We missed you link lol
Id say its buffed and nerfed, since most people will now have 101 poise, which was really rare before. And so it becomes less useful but more damaging.
Chase you are disgusting with this Ash man, love your skill and talent at this game ❤
Where do you find this helmet?
Its in the academy i think where theres an iron maiden
Do more invasionsss
🐐
You are getting closer to the Elden Ring meta level, nice.
Is that level 150?
No idea why this was buffed. Still does ridiculous damage and has stupid stun with a lingering hitbox which can't be rolled. Used it on a faith build once and it was by far the most powerful thing available to me.
Aha. So it got a buff. That’s why it was easier for me to go end game on my lvl 26 weap+0 build. 😊
Is it just me, or the 1st part of the skill, the flame w/ left hand doesnt do damage? I tried on common enemies, it doesnt do anything PvE. The only time i can deal damage is when i followed it up with r2
Aow showcase storm assault it's pretty good
GG Link
I’m sure it’s coming, because I keep pestering, but blood tax on a BS knight GS, and lifesteal fist for the memes, please and thanks!
Damn short video with Flaming Strike 😂
Do you ever lose?
Idk my mimic tear can do it but i cant
Edit: my controls were messed up had to buy a new controller i didnt notice because i hardly ever use heavy attacks
1:50
But is it a flail?
Link is basically a community legend at this point lol. Stories in the comments of how link has killed Chase on 2/3 occasions he's died in showcases
CGS became so obsolete in ER. In Dark Souls their trait was more damage and poise damage than regular great swords at the cost of more weight.
Now they are just heavy, slow noodles, which can barely hit anything (except for the Bloodhound Fang, which is not even in the same ball park as the other CGS).
Their poise damage is a joke.

Flaming strike is such a good AoW!
I hope you're not done with the weapon showcase? There are a lot of weapons you have yet to showcase:p
Hope to see you show them all! It's a great series!
Definitely not done! I Just wanted to prioritize doing videos for the recent patch changes first before continuing the weapons that were not altered :)
