      @@abc7news He seems to have been a decent, hardworking family man, & homeowner & no different than any other cop. He is human, afterall. The really unforgivable tragedy is that none of the family members or members of his immediate community stepped up and did anything what with all of the red flags, etc. Disgraceful. People only care about themselves. This is why there will be more Golden state type killers to come. We reap what we sow. We are the ones responsible.😂😂 🐢

    My 17 year old daughter had a stalker who became a murderer. She had once been his girlfriends friend and she had flatted with them but he was obsessed with my daughter and tried to corner her on many occasions. She was scared of him. She came home to live with me and he got into our house several times. The first time we didn't have a cell phone but I had a deadlock on the inside of my bedroom door. My daughter shook me awake at 3.30am to tell me someone was in the house. We locked ourselves in my room but the phone was up the hallway near the kitchen where he was rummaging in the drawers. After we heard him leave we called the police who came out with a dog who tracked him to where a car had been parked just a few hundred yards from our house and we had heard it roar away. Next time he got in I had a cell phone, and we were again locked in my room at 3am. He heard us talking to the police and took off. I got a huge bullmastiff as a guard dog but this bastard got in again when I took the dog out for a walk. So we knew he was watching the house. The cops got him in the end after he left a pair of boots hidden in our garden and his DNA was in them. By this time he was out on bail for the manslaughter of a girl who had rejected him (it was first degree murder - the victim told people he was going to kill her and he did). Also while on bail he beat to death a neighbour's 2 year old daughter, who also had terrible sexual injuries. He got life in prison, but that's who was stalking my daughter.

      It's a crazy feeling, huh? When I was in high school, the father of a shoolmate of mine was revealed to be a serial killer. (That's actually what spawned my longtime interest in true crime) You always hear people saying on TV, "This kind of thing just doesn't happen around here!" and I always thought it sounded silly...until I found myself thinking the same thing!

    • @jonbonesmahomes7472

    • @maneckineckbeard1749
      @maneckineckbeard1749 4 роки тому +1

      Jon bones Mahomes I mostly agree, except that based on what the neighbors said it sounded like he was still a pretty creepy, annoying and occasionally downright scary guy to live next to. Calling and leaving anonymous death threats is NOT normal neighbor behavior.
      I grew up down the street from an old guy who lived alone, hated kids (and people in general, it seemed) and who let his mean dog run freely through the neighborhood, chasing cars, pooping in people's yards and biting kids. He wasn't a huge concern, but he def made it less comfortable to live there. That's the feeling I get about the GSK as an old man: mean, creepy, occasionally threatening & crazy...but not anyone you'd worry would actually murder you, even if they threatened to?

    • @maneckineckbeard1749
      @maneckineckbeard1749 4 роки тому

      Jon bones Mahomes Also, living next to him in his prime might be one of the safest spots to be! He seemed to deliberately pick places that weren't near to his home, especially when he started killing.
      The only serial killers I can think of who targeted neighbors were BTK, Carol Bundy/Doug Clark (the Sunset Strip Killers) & maybe the Hillside Stranglers.

    I hope that this case helped to convince various police departments across counties, states and countries (!) to work together and not consider themselves in competition with each other. This will only lead to holding back information in order to “be the one who catches the killer”. And ultimately this will allow the perps to continue what they do longer. Wouldn’t it be better to share the success across borders?

He took trophies, because he wanted souvenirs to relive his crimes he enjoyed that. So, he’s definitely enjoying hearing them read out the grisly details and reliving it all again. Sad they took so long to catch him because, his stay in prison will never be long enough. As for the wife that split up with him but, never divorced him? She can’t be made to testify and, I believe she knew what her husband was long before the rest of us did.

      @Stelpots 6 років тому +2

      10inchhog - You had a nice theory that, with hindsight, proved correct but some others working the case had the same theory too. You can't say you would've solved it in the 90's/00's because for 1, they didn't have his DNA when he was a cop because it was in the 70's and it would be so time consuming and costly to track down every cop back then and get DNA and 2, you weren't working in the labs (I assume) so you did not see how the technology progressing happened, Paul said in one interview, and similar here, that it took time for the technology to catch up. And for years they have had his DNA on everything they could think of that was capable of matches. My point is, unless you work in that field you don't know what goes on behind the scenes and armchair sleuthing isn't enough.

    • @randallrose7077

      No, Mary mcnamera solved this case. Holes is a headline grabber. Look at her book and pay special attention to the maps she and her associates, whom she credits, unlike holes........she, before any DNA, or suspects, narrowed the killers local/address/hometown, down to 12 miles from the epicenter of his Sacramento activity and his address in Citrus Heights. Before you spout off, or are too lazy to do the research. Mary Mcnamera basically said he lives in this 12 mile area before Holes or anyone else had a clue. Poor baby died before she realized she had narrowed him done to 12 miles......former cop, looks, MO..... she's / was a freaking Rockstar without a badge.

      Paul Holes DID NOT solve this crime on his own. Holes is a legend in his own mind. He was obsessed with the homework paper and the map. Both will turn out to be red herrings. Holes couldn't even see the connection to the Visalia Ransacker. Larry Compton knew what the connection was and suggested what Holes needed to investigate. As for Michelle McNamara's crime writing hobby, she never had a clue to cracking this case.She was always barking up the wrong tree. McNamara contributed absolutely FUCK ALL to solving the case.

    In his booking photo it appears he had some sort of band-aid on the top of his head, after viewing his court room appearance in the wheel chair you can see the top of his head has some freshly healed bloody scab! Perhaps there was some scuffle when the arresting officers grabbed him in his house.
