I’d say is not there for 2 reasons. Even tho i want to see it on the iPad and mac, i’d say it’ll take a while until they find the best way to do it. And also, if you type it in on a macbook, it’ll be way more visible around you if you’re in a cafe or livingroom, etc. might be dumb and niche but i think it’s a big reason for their choice not to add it
The largest issue with the Journal app is that it isn't available for iPad. It makes a lot more sense that you'd have the Journal app available for iPad first, or at least the same time as the iPhone. This doesn't make sense to me.
Looking at how well apple implemented the calculator app to the iPad with math notes etc. I really wanna see the journal app for the iPad with beautiful handwriting features, ability to add, plug in various aspects of our lives with apple music tracks, our personal photos and videos, locations, cute stickers, the possibilities are just crazy!
I'm convinced Journal will be released for iPad / Mac sooner rather than later since that's the nr 1 thing people want. There are other features I'd like to see as well, such as better over views (world map, calendar etc), and tags or other options to sort entries by people, places etc. The "on this day" feature of Day One is also greatly appreciated and would be a welcome addition to Apple Journal.
@@timchesonis for now im religiously making the journal entries in iphone, with the hope that Apple will wake up one day and decide to put this on other devices.

I'm a Day One user as well and it's one of my most used apps. I do like that Apple have created a journal app of their own but it still needs a few more features before I would even consider making the switch. For me the most important ones would be a map, and a "people" tag or similar so I can sort my entries by persons I've written about. Of course also import. Manually moving thousands of entries is not an option.
@@UncleSinger-33 ohhh ok, I like both apps (Bear and Day One), but it was the subscription that made me drop them. But whatever works for you (people) is best (or something like that 😅).
Still no macOS or iPadOS versions. Because when I need to write down my musings on life, my iPhone is the go to device with its tiny keyboard. Way to go, Apple.
You didn't mention an important new feature that you can now make voice recordings which also do transcription and you can choose to make the transcription part of the entry. This is huge for me.
When they put the journal app on the iPad also is when I will start to use it. Otherwise why would I want to type on a virtual keyboard when I could use a real keyboard with my iPad. It is much faster, more ergonomic, and less annoying then using the tiny iphone keyboard.
Yes, having it running on iPadOS and MacOS would be nice (probably "real soon" now) and having a physical keyboard would be but, all you have to do is get a Bluetooth keyboard that can handle multiple inout devices, and you've got that too.

🐬I'm a long time journaler. Been using Day One since 2016 but have been looking to change for a while. I didn't switch over last year because the Journal App was so lackluster. I decided to switch this past July while on vacation and have enjoyed the experience.
I love the Journal app. I even made an iOS shortcuts that prompts me with some higher level topics and lower level prompts to help me capture my thoughts.
I think the reason no one is talking about it is because Apple, being frustrating as usual, limits it to iPhone. There's no way I'm going to write or dictate a long journal entry on a phone. I need a proper keyboard. I really want to like this app, but until Apple makes it useable across all devices, it's nearly worthless. It's not "under rated," it's "unfinished."
