I had the same luck with a $3,000 2006 SeaDoo GTI. Looked clean and well maintained. Dropped a valve on my 5th time out. Several mechanics all said it is not even close to the cost of fixing. Sold for scraps today $500 and started researching Yamaha’s which brought me to your video. Good luck on next one.
Thanks for the video! I bought two 2005's VX 110 DELUXE they cleaned up great and they only had 75 hours which I'm not sure NOW was a good thing. Previous owner didn't take care of the cosmetic points of them or any mechanical recalls. One waverunner is working fine but I lost an engine in the other, replaced with an SBT engine, 2K! From day one it leaked oil and burned 1/2 quart every hour of riding, all there suggestions failed so they replaced it under warranty. Just took the SECOND SBT engine out to do the break-in and water is in the oil.....looks like milk! Oil warning came on right after two 30 minute rides! SBT now says sorry this engine is out of warranty so 2k plus labor down the drain! Some people have success replacing engines but mine was a terrible ordeal, tons of labor cost and two riding seasons ruined. I had a certified Yamaha mechanic do the engine swap as it wasn't a task I felt I could handle. His original comment when we met was I wouldn't recommend them......…...I should have listened! I have as much in the unit cost, new mirrors, seat cover and replacement engine and labor I could have bought a new one almost, at least an EX! I think we were just unlucky. Tons of guys in the business when I was used shopping said get a couple old Yamahas / 4 stroke and they are bullet proof. Rented some in Florida last year and almost each unit had 800+ hours showing, one had 1000! Hope you get yours going!
Im sorry to hear about your issues my man. I was pretty devastated last season when it happened. I only got like 10 rides out of it. I was able to part it out and get some of the cost back. I've bought used vehicles only my whole life but this occurrence definitely has me thinking otherwise. I don't really want a payment during this questionable financial times so I might wait one more year and pick up a new EX. Life goes on. Cheers.
but it is a jet ski, comq since I also have another identical one I tried to change the voltage regulator, the control unit, the battery and also the steering sensor etc. but the problem persists, if anyone has info to do other things, I thank you, I love your answers
This is 110hp according to google. I have the fx160 which also has the MR-1 engine. How is my ski 160hp and this is only 110hp if they both have the same engine? Thanks
hi can someone help me, I have a yamaha vx1100 from 2005, the bike does not exceed 25 mph, the sipa warning comes on and the engine runs out, the error code it gives me is 55, but I noticed that with the battery flat below 12 volts does not give an error as soon as it recharges above 12.3 volts, it reappears and goes into protections, someone can show me some possible solution to the problem

HEAVY CHEVY damn I'm quite jealous. I saved for a while for one of these so I was pretty devastated when it blew. Seems like a just caught some bad luck. Probably won't be able to buy another one this year but maybe next year.

Thanks Scott. I think the VX is still the way to go as far as used jetskis but it's just the risk you take when buying used.

I was gifted a 2010 Yamaha vx110 and it's amazing. It runs and runs and runs. Very reliable ski
Im jealous. Im sure I just got unlucky and the previous owner repeatedly added too much oil during oil changes and stretched the chain. Life...
I wonder if your specific ski has had the recall on the timing chain tensioner completed.
Top end rebuild and it’ll be fine. Nbd
Too Bad about the engine Z. Hope you get it going soon.

still parting out the ski?
interested n the crankcase.
I don't have it anymore. Sorry man.

Isn’t the fx super or turbocharged? The vx is not. Both have the same mr engine though.
@@ZachD I'm not sure. I don't think the fx160 is either of those tbh :/
I'm just curious how much it would cost to rebuild that motor
as a lot of other commenters suggested, that was what I should have done. The shop I brought it to didn't even reveal that as an option to me.
Few new valves and engine will be like new
Paul iMan isn’t that a pretty intense job? Everyone I talked to was quick to say the engine was beyond repair. Huge bummer regardless.

Pretty sure you can delete this by now...🙄🙄
Matt Hurley why?
@@ZachD apparently Matt doesn't think anyone owns/rides mid 2000's skis anymore. 🙄
Do you want to sell the title and then plate
