Washington and Lee Johnson Scholarship Program Essay (Expert Tips Included in this Video)
If you want to apply for a Johnson Scholarship, read on:
The Johnson Scholarship Program is W&L's merit-based scholarship program, recognizing approximately 44 outstanding first-year students with scholarship awards of at least tuition, room and board. Students with financial need above this amount will have any additional need met by the scholarship. In addition, Johnson Scholars receive funding up to $10,000 to support summer experiences during their time at W&L. Applicants who wish to be considered for a Johnson Scholarship must submit a required application essay with a completed Common App by December 1, 2023, regardless of the applicant's admission plan. Scholarship finalists will be named with particular attention given to their records of academic achievement, demonstrated leadership and civic involvement, and their Johnson Scholarship application essays. It's worth noting that you should do everything in your power to INTERVIEW with Washington and Lee because it's a way to learn more about the college have help the college learn more about you. Though I did not mention it in the video, W&L offers three types of admissions interviews: On-campus Interviews, Virtual Interviews, and Alumni interviews. All interviews are valued equally in W&L's admissions process, and a majority of students complete their interviews with an alumni interviewer. You can't fail an interview; take part in one if you can!
