i prefer the blue for your bedroom. i think it provides more contrast as a lot of things in your room are neutral tones plus it looks better with that brick.
Love the yellow for the bedroom. The blue looks cold to me. I got so excited when I saw the darker green for the dining room until you said it was showing more yellow than it really is. I actually love chartreusey, yellowey greens more, but I still think the green will be beautiful. Also, what a great tip about the frames and matting. That really is the most expensive part of artwork
was going to say same thing! blue will look great with brick and the brick colored side bench. blue is also such a calming color for the bedroom - especially if it already gets a lot of sun and is a hot room - I think yellow is not the best choice.
My two cents about the color in the bedroom: According to color science, the opposites in the color wheel are the most complimentary color. Look up "color wheel" so you know what I’m talking about. The opposite for green is red, which is why the red chairs will look great in the dining room. However, in the bedroom where you have a orange brick wall and an "orange" teak table, you can see that the complimentary color will be blue colors. Also, looking @ the video your blue shirt looks so good with the brick. So that is why i feel that the blue will fit better and make the room feel peaceful and intentional. Good luck with your home updates!
great explanation, not to mention the mood board with the blue background helps the warmer toned colors shine through, while the yellow makes everything blend together, purely because of the contrast from the cool and warm tones. My two cents on the dining room is that the white walls help brighten the space, while a green accent wall or ceiling would be enough to give the space some extra pop. p.s. think about how the color will reflect throughout the room and color unpainted surfaces. It might even make the spare white walls a light shade of green. The white will help the green stand out more on camera. A green wall where the window is, might make the light from the window appear brighter, while the white behind the furniture could reflect the light throughout the space, and allow your beautiful mid-century pieces to stand on their own.
Idk, that blue is like a morning sky blue colour. Darker and deeper blues tend to work better for bedrooms, because they absorb a lot more light, but light blues like those are actually worse, because it simulates morning light which causes stimulates your bodies biological clock into keeping you awake- I mean, it's a lot more of a calming energy than yellow, but yeah.
Hi Benji, I vote blue for the bedroom. It's more calming. I like the green for the dining room. If you paint the walls, I'd leave the ceiling white, so it's not too dark. You could also use that yellow in the dining room, to brighten it up. I really do like your white shelf with all the plants. Theo & Winnie are so cute
Yellow looked much better than the blue, which went cold and dirty and very "little boy's bedroom" with all the red tones on the mood board. The yellow was more sophisticated and small blue and green items could bring in some contrast, like the blue in the print. The green could be great on the ceiling in the dining room as long as it didn't make the ceiling feel lower. Your living room is wonderful and the new art additions are great, I think. The highlight of it all for me was that one crazy shot of Winnie's head in the cone popping up above the dining table - that was a still that would look great in one of your new frames. Thanks for the tour - your style is thoughtful and quiet and I really like it.
I love the yellow for the bedroom, it's muted enough to not have to worry about it making falling asleep a challenge but it will still give you warm energy to start the day!
Yellow!🌛 I was thinking of how nice it would look in contrast to the green outside your window. Plus i think that particular shade works with the brick wall.😊
I like the idea of green on the ceiling, considering you don't get a ton of light in that area it will be a nice contrast w/o compromising the white walls for brightness. The light blue wall looks so nice in the bedroom next to the brick wall! Whatever you do will be very nice, glad to see another video 😊 my son came up and saw you and asked your name (he's 3 & big on names) so when I told him your name was Benji and his name is Benjy he got so excited and smiley 😊 just a little sidenote, lol. 💚
I know everyone is saying blue but personally i think yellow. It seems more cozy and wraps around you like a hug. Blue almost seems to bright and overwhelming. But both are very pretty so im not sure a wrong choice can be made xx
The green-painted ceiling in the dining area that you shared on Instagram is a wonderful touch. It looks calming and brings the whole space together with the color tones. You did a great job. Love you. 💚🪴 love your plant collection too!!
These day's i can't wait. I am getting more and more addicted to the videos. I watch together with my younger sister and she loves your voice. But I Love you more 😊.
i vote blue for the bedroom, just from the inspo boards i can see how well it compliments the furniture and other pieces of the room. Hope u guys love it too!
Love the new artworks! With the paint choices, I’d go with the green ceiling for the dining room - it won’t feel like too much then, just a nice hint of green to connect with the outside. For the bedroom, definitely the blue. It’s such a calming colour ☺️
I’m the same about yellow and red HOWEVER in this case I think it looks amazing. I also LOVE the green in the dining room. Your home evolves over time….take your time and enjoy the process.
I love love love the plant shelf in the living room. It looks so artsy yet sophisticated and if I walked into a shop that was styled like that I probably could not hold myself back and buy everything 😂 I agree, the pots at the bottom look so cool and the way you are able to style your home so effortlessly is very inspiring! Also, love the pinned dried leaves, I think you always come up with lovely ideas that are a bit thinking outside the box yet show your personality. Thank you for always inspiring us!
Benji, I think the green would be beautiful on the ceiling. That way the plants wouldn't get lost like it would if you paint the walls green. I think the buttery yellow would be pretty on the bedroom walls. I think you could get some craft paint in a wood tone and paint the frame above your bed. Can't wait to see the finished rooms.
I think the Blue is a more calming colour for the bedroom, and I love the Green in the diningroom. I also moved to my livingroom to sleep as it had an air conditioner because it has been so hot and humid this summer in BC and almost no rain at all which is not what is expected here. Hope you guys have a wonderful time with the colours.
Your creative instincts are always so spot-on! And thank you for showing us your process of small changes over time, rather than a drastic before-and-after; seems more realistic and affordable 🙃💕
Be careful about the frame of the second sketch you showed...those holes in the wood are wood-worm...you want to make sure they are not active,,,you can buy woodworm cure in an aerosol can...you might want to spray the frame to make sure they are dead before hanging on the wall. To paint only the darker green on the dining room ceiling would be a mistake...you don't have a high enough stud to paint the ceiling in a dark tone...paint the walls dark and the ceiling a light colour will create an intimate space as opposed to an enclosed space. I just painted my living room walls a very light whiteish/blue....what an amazing change...it brightens the room without it being stark....It also highlights my art work and the Rimu ceiling beams extremely well.
Blue for bedroom or blue ceiling and yellow walls! Also blue is relaxing color for sleep. And green for dining room ceiling! Then dining room won't be so dark
First, thank you for your video! They are so cozy and make me feel more relaxed in this stressful life. I absolutely love the yellow paint in the room-it’s so you, like a soft, sunny vibe.
I love all the paint colors you have chosen, and do agree that you should paint. The green did have a mustardy quality to it on camera, not sure what it looks like in person. But a dark green would be lovely in the dining room. Giving it a cozy, and warm, intimate feel. I'd leave the ceiling white. I prefer the pale blue in the bedroom, and perhaps the yellow in the bathroom and stairwell maybe? Since you say it's so hot up there in the bedroom, the blue may give it a "cooler" feel. Both the yellow and blue look great with the teak. I like to go by what feelings you want to evoke in a room (i.e. serenity, coolness, coziness, soothing, etc.) It will all be so beautiful!!
Blockout curtains would help cool down the bedroom a bit. You can layer them with sheers. And maybe an air circulator. Vornado makes good ones and they have some nice retro designs too.
Very pretty colors to decide from for the bedroom. I think with the sun shining in the yellow would make it nice and cozy. The dark green may make the room look smaller if you do all the walls. I think it’s better for an accent color. I’m sure whatever you decide will work though because you have an awesome eye for decorating. ❤
I really really love the white in the dining room. I''ll wait to see how it turns out with colour. I agree the white shelf design is very beautiful and creative.
I think the blue might fit really well because of the contrast of the yellow sunlight coming in. Yellow in a bedroom sometimes can cause trouble sleeping because our eyes correlate yellow with the sun. I think it might not affect you as much because of how light the yellow is but still good to know. They're both really good options.
For me it's yellow yellow yellow all the way for your room, just as long as you can diffuse the light. when you need to. As for the green in the dining room, I enderstand you wanting to use the colour, its gorgeous, but the space is wonderful as is. Coming from the UK, if I saw the whole room green, with your (gorgeous) red chairs, the space would be shouting CHRISTMAS. Maybe start with the ceiling to begin with? Thank you for all the wonderful content you give us Benji 👌🧡
Not sure about green in the dining room, but you could try one wall and decide. I prefer the white walls personally though. Using your mood board for the bedroom, I prefer the blue color. It creates better contrast I think, better than yellow, orange, and brown mixed too much. Hope this helps! ❤
The green is awesome! Just did some painting this past weekend using Behr Mountain Olive and love it. The yellow would work well upstairs, that was my first choice between the two. Also I've just learned that the paint works great for terracotta. Used my remainder for pots and they're stunning! Also allows me to more freely place the color about the space without full on painting.
Love the green for the dining room - and its beautiful shade of green... although it did look a little darker once you'd stuck it to the wall... Also we once had a beautiful dusty blue bedroom similar to what you have chosen... with lots of natural light - and it was the most serene calm room ever - you felt it instantly stepping into it...
Hi Benji - I love what you have done in your home. As for the bedroom - because it gets so hot and so much sun, I’d go with the blue paint and then make any decor adjustments needed.
Green for the dining room! It looks so good with the red chairs and wood furniture. Also I really like buttery yellow walls when the room gets a lot of sunlight, but I think it would look better with the dusty blue. The blue is a great contrast to the brick wall and red bench. I have a very similar blue colour in my childhood bedroom and it is a very nice bedroom colour.
Yes with your choice of yellow in the bedroom! When you brought up the mood board the yellow looked so cozy, cohesive and the blue of the painting popped beautifully ( and the greens too)! With the blue everything looks kind of messy and nothing stands out
My vote is for blue in the bedroom AND bathroom. As others have noted, it will make a nice contrast to the brick and furniture. It will also read cooler temperature-wise, which will be good in light of the heat waves (I feel for y’all! Ask yr landlady for more AC!) Dining room, I say the green on the ceiling and bring it down onto the wall some. Your art additions are so perfect, what a showplace you are creating! ❤
I am all for the fully green room :D the room lacks dept, which you will get from the paint and a dark color like that will also make the room feel larger, but also hug you. I did my small apartment in a really dark mat blue and it was amazing because you really notes the big windows I had.
Have you ever considered interior design as a career, you're VERY good at it. You put a lot of thought into every aspect of each room. I truly enjoy your videos, can't wait to see more.
I love the color green that you picked for the dining room, because it happens to be one of my favorite colors. The only thing that you should consider, is that the dark color might make the room feel smaller. If you're not a fan of a lot of lighting in that room it'll feel like a dungeon.
As you showed the color swatch, I think you could use the green in the dining area, and as u inserted samples, of wall, ceiling or just one wall, would be extremely exquisite ❤❤❤
I like the yellow, i think it gives warmth. The blue is a cool color for me. Love your bookcase with the pots in them, really something different. As always I enjoy very much your videos.❤
I love the second art piece. Nice to see another relaxing video from you ❤ Edit: I prefer the yellow color tbh, i think it matches better with the brick wall in the room and the wooden pieces you have. I also think warm colors fit better in bedrooms, as places where we are supposed to feel relaxed and sleepy? Lol
Hey Benji, I’ve watched your videos for ages now just never commented on them. I very much like your shelves as you have them, I think the blue would be so much more restful in your bedroom, and in your dining room, I’m not sure on your choice of a green ceiling it will close in your space and make the room look so much smaller but on the walls it could be nice and like you said , it’s only paint you can always choose another colour to paint over if you and Chris don’t like it. Happy painting ❤
I just painted my apartment yellow and blue and I am so happy. I took a blue that had a light lilac tendency and a soft yellow. I did do accent walls, but I chose based on the architecture. So that it makes sense. The blue frames my altar and ankers it into the room. And the yellow is on the two walls you see when you come in. I am so in love. The yellow is just a happy color and the blue is relaxing and smooth. I think about water and sun.
Green paint l love. Blue looks better with the orange tones of the teak. They are complimentary colours on the colour chart. Love your house and style, sure anything will look great.
Hi Benji. I love the green for the dining room and maybe just try a feature wall just to get an idea if you want to paint the entire room. And I like the curtains at the opening to the living room, but I think they would look even nicer if they were longer. Looking forward to seeing what you decide. ❤
I recommend figuring out the feng shui bagua areas in your home. It can help you narrow down your color choices! I also get overwhelmed by colors and I find following feng shui guidelines helps give me some guardrails (and I also think it does make a difference for how I feel in my home when I follow feng shui practices)!
I definitely love the pale blue or the yellow for your bedroom! I would definitely stay away from that olive for the dining room unless you just do an accent wall or the ceiling since it doesn't get a lot of light ♡
i vote light blue for your bedroom! im also biased because thats my favorite color, i think it feels childlike in a way that i love, and your furniture is very mature so its a good balance
I'm voting for buttery yellow!! I personally feel the blue doesn't match the shade of the bricks, or the cement between it. Whereas the yellow accompanies it better - I think because it's closer to a neutral colour than the blue. I also feel this makes sense with your mood board where you've got accents of green and blue that would contrast nicely with the yellow. Like a soft blue on a quilt cover with white pillows, against a yellow wall, would be so much cuter than the other way round imo
The green for the dining room on ceiling and walls would be cool with lots of spot lighting to keep it from feeling like a cave. Love, the blue for the bedroom but I would tan wash the teak to make it more modern personally. 125 degrees upstairs?! 😮 Stay cool.
Make sure the sheen of the paint is a matt, satin or eggshell. Anything with a shine to it reflects any imperfections on the wall and gathers more visible dust.
Consider a feature wall. Base dusty blue with rag-rolled buttery yellow over. Sparingly. This might echo foliage textures. - Rag-Rolling gives surfaces a dramatic effect reminiscent of crushed velvet, parchment or chamois leather. Like Sponging, there are techniques where you rag on or rag off. Different rag fabrics will create different effects. Popular materials include linen, chamois or burlap.
i prefer the blue for your bedroom. i think it provides more contrast as a lot of things in your room are neutral tones plus it looks better with that brick.
or the yellow but add in a few cold elements, as a cold green/blue passpartou or such :)
I agree, especially because blue in a bedroom always gives that calm feeling that helps with rest and falling asleep.
I think i agree
Love the yellow for the bedroom. The blue looks cold to me. I got so excited when I saw the darker green for the dining room until you said it was showing more yellow than it really is. Green ceiling would look amazing in the dining room! Love your content x
Yes! And, the cornices over the curtains to bring it down a bit.
+1 to green ceiling
i'm also team white walls and green ceiling!!
Team green ceiling too
Agreed! Ceiling green - love! Also that green is so goood
My two cents about the color in the bedroom: According to color science, the opposites in the color wheel are the most complimentary color. Look up "color wheel" so you know what I’m talking about. I personally love that it doesn't have too much contrast in this case. Not saying one of us is right or wrong tho cos design is subjective
Ooh this is true. I did love having a yellow bedroom - it is so cheerful!
+1

Blue is more soothing for a bedroom. Maybe use the yellow in the bathroom. More stimulating to wake up to.
I was thinking the same thing.

You could also use that yellow in the dining room, to brighten it up. I really do like your white shelf with all the plants. Theo & Winnie are so cute
Yes the white shelves are on point now. LOVE THEM.
I vote blue for the bedroom! I think it will feel calming and fresh.
i liked the baby blue walls in bedroom to balance out / lighten? the earthy red but up to you! both will look great :):)
Yellow looked much better than the blue, which went cold and dirty and very "little boy's bedroom" with all the red tones on the mood board. The yellow was more sophisticated and small blue and green items could bring in some contrast, like the blue in the print. 100% agree - yellow would especially make the room a lot more cosier than blue, in my opinion.
What is the time stamp for the Winnie frame? Sounds so cute!
@@beingelizaclark brief glimpse at 0.08 then the full spectacular at 12.05.
@@janelte wow that is really cute. could totally be a print!
Yellow is definitely the move for the bedroom, also I think some sort of pendant light over your new nightstand would look so cute ☺️
I love the yellow for the bedroom, it's muted enough to not have to worry about it making falling asleep a challenge but it will still give you warm energy to start the day!
Blue for the bedroom would look so peacefull and nice, i vote for that one :)
I love your eclectic style, it makes your home look original, I prefer a home to have its own uniqueness, it looks like a home not a house ❤
Chris and you are like ASMR as people. Both of you are fab ❤
Blue for the bedroom, it's very relaxing and the contrast with the bricks it's very nice 🥰
Yellow!🌛
I was thinking of how nice it would look in contrast to the green outside your window. Plus i think that particular shade works with the brick wall.😊
I think the yellow goes with your personalities. Plus, waking up in the morning with a brightly.colored room will set your moods for the day.
Blue would be calmer and cozier in the bedroom 🩵
i love the blue in the bedroom and the green in the dining room!
Love the blue with the brick in the bedroom! Green ceiling in dining would also be so cool!
The unintentional pot on your bookshelves look amazing!! Borrowing this idea for my terracotta pots 😍. Such a lovely home with a relaxing vibe!!
I personally would prefer yellow in the bedroom, it just radiates a positive vibe and i think it looks nice with the shade of bed wood
I know everyone is saying blue but personally i think yellow. It seems more cozy and wraps around you like a hug. Blue almost seems to bright and overwhelming. But both are very pretty so im not sure a wrong choice can be made xx
I think the blue color would look great.

what a steal on the art and frames! I'm pro yellow for upstairs. Maybe that shade of green would be nice in the dining room on the ceiling to start
Be aware...the frame holes may be from termites. If you eventually see wood dust below, ya know for sure.
Probably from wood worms. There’s a spray that kills them.
My first thought was termites as well
Or it could be wood-eating beetles, which are also to be concerned about. So Benji, be careful!!!
@@MrBibmm I’m a woodworker. It’s woodworm damage. Easily cured
Also here to say it's woodworm damage 🪱

Dining room, I say the green on the ceiling and bring it down onto the wall some. Your art additions are so perfect, what a showplace you are creating! ❤
I like the warmth of the yellow for the bedroom.
I am all for the fully green room :D the room lacks dept, which you will get from the paint and a dark color like that will also make the room feel larger, but also hug you. I did my small apartment in a really dark mat blue and it was amazing because you really notes the big windows I had.
I think a large piece of artwork on the brick would look lovely. I like the yellow paint over the blue.
Ohhh so glad you found Noah Daniel, I´ve been binge watching his videos too! he´s so good at explaining interior design :)
The blue against the colour of the bricks would be so lovely
Have you ever considered interior design as a career, you're VERY good at it. You put a lot of thought into every aspect of each room. I truly enjoy your videos, can't wait to see more.
I love the white shelves with the plant pots and art and found things! Well done on designing that!
Love your eye for design! I vote that butter yellow! It feels so warm and peaceful. If you really want blue, maybe something much lighter.
I love watching your interior evolving!
I love the color green that you picked for the dining room, because it happens to be one of my favorite colors. The only thing that you should consider, is that the dark color might make the room feel smaller. If you're not a fan of a lot of lighting in that room it'll feel like a dungeon.
It comes down to the light. I painted my small apartment a dark blue, almost black and it made it look bigger then with the white walls.
I love how you hang art inside the shelving unit!
Such a calming satisfying video. Luv your aesthetic Benji!
i loove the paint you are leaning towards, i would go with these too! i love your house in general and its just getting better and better 💛
Youre videos are the best for easing into my day, and hangovers lol so calming and heartwarming
As you showed the color swatch, I think you could use the green in the dining area, and as u inserted samples, of wall, ceiling or just one wall, would be extremely exquisite ❤❤❤
Blue bedroom would look good with all the rooms natural light.
I like the yellow, i think it gives warmth. The blue is a cool color for me. Love your bookcase with the pots in them, really something different. As always I enjoy very much your videos.❤
I love the second art piece. Nice to see another relaxing video from you ❤
Edit: I prefer the yellow color tbh, i think it matches better with the brick wall in the room and the wooden pieces you have.
I love the yellow for the bedroom.❤
I think the blue would look so nice in your bedroom! Will be a very calming colour
Green paint l love. Blue looks better with the orange tones of the teak. They are complimentary colours on the colour chart. Love your house and style, sure anything will look great.
i like the yellow since the room has so much sunlight and is summery, the blue feels more calm
Oooohhhhh I also love that area with the white shelf and the greenery
Hi Benji. I love the green for the dining room and maybe just try a feature wall just to get an idea if you want to paint the entire room. And I like the curtains at the opening to the living room, but I think they would look even nicer if they were longer. Looking forward to seeing what you decide. ❤
Really love the blue!! It’s so calming ✨
As always, another fantastic video. Thank you for sharing the creative process with us.
I like blue for the bedroom. It’ll give a cooler feeling.
Anything with a shine to it reflects any imperfections on the wall and gathers more visible dust.
green celing in the dining room and blue for the bedroom!
Consider a feature wall. Base dusty blue with rag-rolled buttery yellow over. Sparingly. This might echo foliage textures.

Rag-Rolling gives surfaces a dramatic effect reminiscent of crushed velvet, parchment or chamois leather. Like Sponging, there are techniques where you rag on or rag off. Different rag fabrics will create different effects. Popular materials include linen, chamois or burlap.
