I agree with you about Clown v Spiders. The banter really did lessen the fear factor. I found myself getting irritated with all the chatter. I even told the clowns to shut up a few times 😂 🤐🤡
You read so many books in October! I've tried to read The Only Good Indians several times but always end up DNFing it. I have a love/hate relationship with SGJ's books. I love his Indian Lake Trilogy and a couple of his short stories, but I didn't care for his recent book I Was A Teenage Slasher. I may give The Only Good Indians another chance at some point. I enjoyed co-hosting The Spooky Scary Skeleton with you and am so thankful to have connected over our mutual love of books.
To be fair there were a lot of short ones in there. I’ve heard a lot people feeling pretty lukewarm about SGJ, but I really like The Only Good Indians. I liked that the story was unapologetically bonkers and it felt like it could have been a plausible folk myth. Me too! House of Leaves would probably be still sitting on my shelf without your encouragement 😁
I could argue that it was a meta-commentary on Oryx and Crake and the two personas of Snowman and Jimmy, and how the future version is attempting to make amends for the mistakes of the past version. Reality, I just screwed up the shooting and when I couldn’t fix without drawing attention to it, the next best thing is to draw even more attention to it 🤣🤣🤣
Oh I know, presenter Mark is the bane of editor Mark’s life 😁 My approach is, if I screw up (which I do in every video) and I can’t fix it or cover it up, then draw even more attention to it and try to do something entertaining with it.
@ you’re always going to be your own harshest critic. I posted one with me saying a blatant error. One of my his best watched video, no one’s said anything yet 😁
An Excellent reading month Mark! I read a SGJ novella called Mapping The Interior. I struggled with the writing style but may give the author another chance. The Only Good Indians sounds interesting. I do disagree with your rating of Clowns vs Spiders 🤣🤣 but it is great that different books speak to us in different ways. Shadow Over Innsmouth is my favorite Lovecraft Novella. I will check out Lot no. 247. Annihilation is high priority on my tbr. Have a great November! 🤡🕷🤣
I’ve heard a few people saying that Mapping The Interior wasn’t great, but The Only Good Indians was a blast. As long as you don’t mind not getting answers then Annihilation is great.
The shots of you editing while carving, etc 😂😂The only good Indians is a book that I struggled with a bit while I was reading it and thought it was just okay...to having it live in my brain for years later with much fonder memories of. hahaa - you starting to backpedal when you realize Cliff won't love your take on clowns vs. spiders. I think he will be okay.
Well if I can't cover up my mistakes, I exploit them. Honestly I didn't back pedal, I really enjoyed the first third and I was never bored, it is a soft recommendation but a recommendation none the less
We LOVEEEEEEE to see a 5 star read! ❤
Wasn’t technically spooky, buts it’s bloody good.
That sounds like an excellent reading month! I'm definitely intrigued by There There.
@@genteelblackhole not everything I read was excellent, but I’m glad of everything I read. And yeah, There There is fantastic.
You got through so many books, woooooohooo! ❤🎉
Weeeeellll a lot of short stories and novellas to be fair

I can understand that outburst 🤣
Oh wow, a new all time favourite book and possibly the best of the year? Okay mark, I am convinced. I will add it to the TBR!
It’s pretty damn good, I also reckon The Only Good Indians is right up your street
@ yes I loved that one!!

The editing we have to deal with as BookTubers!! 🤣

@ I like your way of doing it!! I sometimes stress over the edits so much that I end up taking forever to post the video. 😅
