A sad end, indeed. My dad grew up in Delray, and loved to watch trains like I do. His old house was just a block or two away from here, demolished to construct the I-75 overpass. You will be missed, old Delray Tower.
I concur with the sentiment that this is sad and bittersweet... But I also commend rail fans who take the time to record trains and associated railroad activity so that it can live on, albeit in a different way, but still no less important. All too often opportunities like this are overlooked in the moment and lost forever. Thank you for sharing, not only area rail fans but rail fan transplants throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, and beyond.
Greetings, Michigan Central Lines! It's a shame that this tower will be vacant and eventually demolished. I believe it should be preserved and brought over to one of Michigan's railway museums. To name a few places, this little tower would make a great side-display at Durand, Grass Lake, Owosso, or Mount Clemens. However, restoring such a building would take a lot of time, money, and very hard work. It looks very old and worn, and much restoration and care would need to be given to it. Still, it's nice to see a least one video of this tower before anything should happen to it. The capture of the short train suited this video's purpose, and was a nice "farewell" to a little piece of railroading history. Have a great day, Michigan Central Lines, and take care! "...then again Jean-Luc....all good things"
A very sad ending! In fact, almost every CSX runs will be controlled by the Jacksonville facility.
Nice!
Bittersweet.....
Kinda sad.
