Spicy Glass Noodle Salad Recipe (Yum Woon Sen) | Thai Girl in the Kitchen

- Today's recipe is one of Thai spicy salads.
'Yum Woon Sen' or Spicy Glass Noodle Salad.
Most Thai salads that includes the word 'Yum' will be packed with the flavors of spicy, sour, salty, sweet and umami along with several herbs to fresh the dish up.
In this video, we're making 'Yum Woon Sen Talay'.
The word 'Talay' itself means 'Sea/Ocean' but when being included in any Thai menu name, it refers to 'seafood'.
And of course, if you're allergic to seafood you can substitute with something else such as sausages, Vietnamese sausages, meatballs, tofu or even leave it as simple as ground pork/beef/chicken.
Let's see the ingredients!

📒Spicy Glass Noodle Salad Recipe (Yum Woon Sen) | Thai Girl in the Kitchen
- 100g Glass noodles
- 5-6 Shrimps
- 1 cup Squid rings
- 80g Ground pork/chicken
- 6 tbsp Lime juice
- 4 tbsp Fish sauce
- 2 tbsp Palm sugar (Can substitute with granulated sugar)
- 1 tbsp Sriracha (Optional)
- 1/2 Onion
- Tomato
- Fresh chili as much as you want (Can use either bird eyes chili or Thai chili)
A little bit of….
- Cilantro
- Spring onion
- Celery (In the video, I use Chinese celery which is smaller, more leafy and stronger flavor. However, if you can’t get Chinese celery, you can use the leaf parts from celery you can get)
If you want the extra texture and nutty flavor, you can also top it up with roasted peanuts or cashew nuts or both!
Now enjoy!

You’re welcome! Glad you like it. Hope you’ll try some recipes soon 😊🙏🏻
Looks amazing! Love your technique of using a knife with the lime.
I just had a version of this with seafood at my local Thai place and it was so good! Glad to see a recipe in case I wanna recreate it at home
It is a nice noodles salad. The key is the glass noodles brand you pick. Some may be more soggy or just better than the others. As long as you’re happy with the glass noodles brand you get, everything else will be fine maybe with a little adjustment of seasonings to your preference 😊 Hope you’ll enjoy it!
Look so delicious ❤❤❤

Hi Pam! Please tell me, what the difference between fish sauce and Thai fermented fish souce?
Hello, fish sauce is more commonly used and fermented fish sauce(Pla-ra/Pla-deak) will be added more in Thai/Isaan or Laos food such as Som-Tum etc.
Pla-Ra has a funky smell and tastes, full of Umami and salty flavors. Because of the smell, some people just totally don't like it. But personally I do like my Som-Tum with Pla-Ra 😋😊
@@ThaiGirlintheKitchen thanks for clarification, Pam. I have to try Pla-Ra 😁
smell so good, Sandy right behind yoh😍😍😋😋😂😂
