Haha there was a bit of a dash to put it out! We had a truck with a water tank ready as well as fire extinguishers. We always like to play it safe while doing dangerous things haha
....Back in college, I learned about a book called 'CATAPULT! Harry and I build a siege weapon' by Jim Paul. It was about a dude in California dragging his reluctant friend Harry into a harebrained passion project to build a working trebuchet from scratch, so they could lob rocks into San Francisco Bay. Gotta admit. That looks like a lot of fun. Dangerous, ill-advised, but A LOT of fun. IT GOES FOOMPH!
Is there a chance to see how you build the trebuchet? And what’s the difference between the ones in the game of age of empires II? Is this possible to destroy a castle? Or how large will be enough to destroy a building? Thanks!
Yeah absolutely! If you scrub through some of my older videos on the channel there is one where we show the build process of the trebuchet. it's called: "How to Build a 15 Foot Backyard Trebuchet in THREE DAYS" Age of Empires was actually our original inspiration as kids to build a trebuchet! I guess there's not really a lot of difference technically, the ones in AOE are just WAY bigger. And probably not, this one is mainly for fun, the ones they would use to knock down castles would need to throw much heavier objects much farther so they could be out of range of the enemy returning fire, so a trebuchet like that would need to be much larger and sturdier than mine here.
I've got another idea for a trebuchet going a little more in depth into the physics of it and explaining why we built it and showing the original one our dad helped us build as kids
Found you through daily dose of internet! Your content is awesome 😎 Instant sub
