- Stop the clock! She found the last clue and still had four minutes to spare… just enough time to listen to the full version of the Treasure Hunt theme music before getting back into the helicopter. Perfect.
Action woman - Anneka Rice - burst on to UK TV screens in the early 80s, searching for clues across the country, with the help of a cameraman, soundman and helicopter pilot. Back at the studio HQ, Kenneth Kendall and Wincey Willis helped two contestants guide Anneka (via radio link) across the skies, with the use of maps and books from a research library (no internet!) in a race against time to find the final prize.
This remix uses two pieces of music - the Treasure Hunt theme tune (which is actually a piece of library music) called Peak Performance from the BR8_BRCD1 Grandiose Impressive Panoramic album (Bruton Music/Universal Production Music) by Zack Laurence and the Channel Four theme music, Four Score by The Airways Orchestra and written by Lord David Dundas.
Since Treasure Hunt was synonymous with Channel Four, I thought it would be nice to include both pieces of music. Also, Treasure Hunt was one of the earliest major series on the then recently launched channel in 1982.
No copyright infringement intended. This is a tribute remix, born out of the fond memories I have for this show as a child and all rights belong to Universal Production Music (Zack Laurence) and The Airways Orchestra (Lord David Dundas) and Channel Four.

This takes me right back to being fourteen years old, watching Treasure Hunt, and wishing I had as much energy as she must have had to do all that running about!
I loved that programme!
I remember how excited I was to watch the episode she did on my home turf in Lancashire.
I was proud to see how good it looked from the helicopter.

Would make a very good samba for Strictly Come Dancing, they should get the couple to wear blue jumpsuits. I like the fact that you've worked the Channel 4 jingle into it, lovely touch! You've given it a bouncy, funky vibe.
Bit of trivia for you: Philippe de Dieuleveult, Anneka's French counterpart who was the skyrunner in the French version of the show on which ours was based (La chasse aux trésors), went missing with 6 other people during a rafting expedition in Congo in 1985 and they were never seen again :(
In his early TV career, Philippe once got marooned in a fortress called Fort Boyard amid a very rough sea. He had to be rescued by helicopter. That incident inspired game show producer Jacques Antoine - who also devised the original Treasure Hunt in France - to create another French game show called Fort Boyard, which later spawned a UK version called... The Crystal Maze! So if it hadn't been for Philippe, we wouldn't have had that.
LOVE this. Massive fan of TH (and the theme). I actually flew in the Treasure Hunt helicopter G-BHXU. Sadly it's in the sea of the Channel Islands now lol. Great mix.

There was Treasure hunt a second look AKA The best of Treasure hunt this time Kenneth was in the helicopter whilst Anneka had to put up with being in a hot and stuffy studio Anne Meo was adjudicator she was only given a walk on part only she wrote the clues for this programme and the questions for Blockbusters
There was a brief reboot of treasure hunt i think on bbc 2 then hosted by Dermot Murnaghan in 2002-03

@@jamesdelboy But i did read a few days ago that anneka rice was keen to reboot treasure hunt though im not sure who owns the rights to that unlike challenge anneka , anneka rice owned the rights to that .
