The right shot was clearly bridging over the black to just gently drop the red in near the top cushion. Awkward cueing sure, but still a pretty easy red and guaranteed perfect position on the black with no positional effort whatsoever. Why he ended up taking on that really difficult long red is beyond me.
And Selby said Ronnie was disrespectful to the game... Don't let me laugh. Edit: at the time I didn't know Selby suffered from a depression. That's probably why he was in his head instead of focussing on the table. So I understand better now.
Maybe it had to do something with his depression, I know now. Other disturbing thoughts were going through his mind. If so, I feel bad for him. Personally I know how terrible it can be.
Well in a way Mark was right especially in recent years and months. But he did say it after losing to Ronnie in a world semi... appalling behaviour really.
Absolutely abysmal play. He does this so often, he kills the game. I remember the masters final with him and Robertson years back and people were leaving early because he was so dull.
Mark Selby and Mark Williams always find the obscure shots other players would never have seen, and both execute them brilliantly. Selby can bring his Pool skills to the Snooker table at times. Very attack minded, while also able to keep it extreme safe.
@@hendrikheemels8615 Umm yeah, that's what I said, who else do you see in the game finding those hidden plants, playing really strange shot's nobody else had seen, Mark Williams knowing he's an opening pot his opponent hasn't seen in the pack of reds, so leaves his opponent only able to see a loose red that's away from the pack he doesn't want disturbed, as soon as the guy plays safe of that loose red and Mark can see the pack of reds, he'll play the shot, pot the red and be perfect on the black with all the reds wide open. Probably the best in the world at that game, you never know what he will come up with, next. And Selby is a naturally attacking player anyway, he brings elements of his pool game to the snooker table, half a chance, frame over.
@@hendrikheemels8615 You like a bet? I'll give you a winner for tomorrow. My mate Andy Hicks plays Michael Holt at 1pm, in the last 32 of the UK Championship. Andy is buzzing at the moment and potting everything in sight, he also needs those ranking points for next season, so he'll win this match, he's 4/1 to win, with Holt 1/25 fav. So this is a good tip.
In this situation Selby wasn't deliberately slowing the game. It was like Murphy's do-or-die shot along the left cushion in the last frame of the 2021 World Championship final. I would pick a safety shot from the right red...
Selby is always bending the rules to suit..poor sportsmanship and he's more boring than Ebdon was. He tried this with Ronnie in the World but back fired on him.
Foulds was getting more and more wound up. Why didn't the ref warn Selby? Like when O'Sullivan was having a go at him about his eyes being tested: He's a bit too soft for me is Scullion.
Now u know why guys lost to him at times? Strong Era player indeed. Come on. 6 mins over a shot where he got choices of shots. For heaven sake some body gives him a pacifier. He and cliff thornburn can be tag team snooker player.....
I am pretty sure Selby was up to his old tricks of breaking his opponent's rhythm, letting their arm get cold. I found it rather disgusting, and cheap of Selby to pull such an underhanded stunt. But, that is who Selby is.
A safety shot sending the cue ball to the other side of the table would have been apropiate, other options were too risky. I assume he lost the frame and the match, didn't he?
Bridging over the black to just gently drop that red near the top cushion in would have been fine. I could play that shot. Slightly awkward, but it only needed gently rolling in with no positional effort required whatsoever. He'd have been nicely on the black by default. Going for that difficult long red up the table was a ridiculous decision.
The ref was Leo Scullion one of the best in the game. He should have awarded a foul 7 points away for slow play. Selby was 66 points up for goodness sake.
Bring back Griffiths and Thorburn, all is forgiven after watching this rather exciting clip...not! At least they didn't piss and fart about like he did.
I remember watching this live. It didn't feel like six minutes because of the entertaining commentary
Thank god for Neil Fouldes then

Imagine Selby playing Ebdon the game would never end 😂
To this day Mark still wonders if that was the right choice of shot.

look at the score, he was 66 points up
I've love the way the commentators are getting so frustrated.
They should do a side by side of this with Ronnie's 5 minute maxi 😅
FIRST thought that came to mind! Selby "iced" himself by taking so long. (Ref. is to "icing the kicker" ploy in US football.)
They did search for Selby 6 minutes
There is!

@@josepherhardt164 I've seen Robertson do this. He plays worse when he takes longer on shots
It seems that at the end Selby apologizes to Higgins, but still I think it's unacceptable and the ref also did a poor job in not warning him.
i agree the ref should have warned him for sure
Higgins was desperately trying not to get too annoyed at Selby.
Maybe Higgins paid Selby to do this?
@@danielpain367 Scullion is too soft
@@kevinprior3549 yes he needed to protect the other player!
That was ridiculous...Selby took way too long and should have been warned by the referee...
Love the way Neal Fould gets increasingly frustrated as it goes on. 😅
That would’ve been the perfect opportunity for someone in the crowd to shout “Take your time John”.
Selby channeling his inner Ebdon
This is why I love snooker. 😂😂😂
It's magic. It's trying to make magic happen. EnJOY!
And we thought Ebdon making a break of 12 over 5 minutes was slow. Selby like Ebdon does take the mick.
Legend has it, Mark's still on that table.
Can't stand watching him at the best of times
This is the first time I feel sorry for Mark Selby. Either too many thoughts going into his mind or a complete thought block.
I dont feel sorry for him. Its insulting to the viewers
@@NC-ck5oj hope you're still insulted mate. move on 😂

Selby was 66 points up and took 6 minutes over a shot. It's embarrassing to snooker.

This is OUTRAGEOUS!
That comment from Foulds always gets me. It's funny!
Absolutely abysmal play. He does this so often, he kills the game. I remember the masters final with him and Robertson years back and people were leaving early because he was so dull.
How could this be allowed to happen? I didn't know it went on for 6 minutes, I quit watching on the 4th.
So frustrating his play sometimes, can kill the spirit of the game even when he wins
it's because Mark Selby wanted to set a Guinness record !
Even the club player can do that safety shot..mark mark, what's in your mind!?
Mr Selby uses this tactic to put his opponents off their game,
This is why people hate Selby...
Why didn't he go for red to middle in fact I think there was 2 reds potable to middle. And there was a cut with the red nearest to the corner pocket.
How many times has Selby played Higgins? Selby always seem to be against either Higgins or Murphy.
He should have been challenged by the referee as this was gamesmanship pure and simple NOT ALLOWED he's as bad as Ebdon baddddd
Neal Foulds so wound up. 😅
Now that I think about it, is it legal for a player to simply walk around the table for hours?
JOHN MUST HAVE BEEN THINKING, I DID A DEAL FOR 300K TO PAY FOR MY HOME IN SPAIN QUICKER THAN THIS.

But a proper boring sod of a snooker player. Would rather sit and watch paint dry than watch Selby play.
Ronnie takes 5 minutes to get 147, mark takes 6 minutes to play a ball😂
Keeps looking at the same shot as if somethings gonna change
Meanwhile Ronnie's made a maximum and is breaking off in the next frame 😅
Well, not quite with the way Ronnie's playing these days. He takes his time now. But yeah, this shot was just bonkers.

Of course he was doing it on purpose
Slowby
Hahaha😁😁
Tony Drago, Un-Nooh, Ronnie would have won two frames by the time it took Mark Selby to take a shot.
Mark Williams is fast too just don't look it the way he walks round the table. A good floater... he floats around the table and floats the balls in.
Alex Higgins and Jimmy White were also sprinters... White still is of course!
