I love the amount of dedication you give to your dog. It's crazy how much time you can give her for exercise every day. I also have a 9-month-old mini Aussie! Usually, she gets one 40 minute walk a day and 3 sessions of fetch in our backyard (except for weekends). I agree that these dogs are not for everyone and are a LOT of work.

You're feeding Freya raw food in the responsible way and I give you all the kudos for it! I can't wait to see her fully grown!
Excellent! Dogs look to us for guidance and if they don't receive that guidance, they do what they feel best (which isn't always what we would desire). You appear to be doing a great job in guiding this pooch! Glad to see you mentally stimulating her (like, with the feeding thing). These dogs love to learn! Also, they do have "a-ha" moments in this learning. As for crate training, you're right on. If the crate is a positive and happy place, the dog will love it and it is not cruel...it is positive stability for the pooch. Come about 6 months of age until around 2 years of age, she may go into "doggy velociraptor mode" where you will think she is forgetting all her training. She is not, it's all a part of growing up. Stay firm and consistent and she will perform well in her adult years. Thanks for the video!

I LOVED watching this video of you and your doggie. Freya is one super fortunate doggie to have such an attentive, caring and excellent trainer as her owner. I just have a small one bedroom apartment and wasn't sure if I could have an Aussie in this setting but it looks like you are successfully doing this. I"m 63 and grew up with German shepherds but haven't owned a dog or other pets as an adult. Yet, I gravitate towards dogs every time I see one and just crave petting them, especially Aussie shepherds and border collies, blue heelers, setters and similar dogs. There was an older woman with a totally out of control border collie that she was walking...I asked to pet her and was granted permission. I calmed the dog and he actually followed my commend to have him sit down during the time I was petting him. I do recognize there is a huge difference between loving and petting someone else's dog on a walk and actually owning a dog... The quality attention you give to your dog is just marvelous. Should you choose to be a mom to a human baby I'm certain you'd be an awesome parent in this regard as well! I'm still deciding on this. Say, have you seen the video or read the book "Chaser" about the neuroscientist who trained his dog to identify over 1,000 toys and to infer and use reasoning to identify the name for toys he'd never seen before? I think you'd love that! I don't know if I will actually get an Aussie, but I am seriously thinking of doing so!

i just found & am catching up on your videos - so fun watching freya grow! she is SO smart. i learned something interesting from a great book that you may like called The Other End of the Leash, about dog psychology - it's actually counterintuitive to say "good ___" after your dog successfully follows a command! it boggles their brains. not sure if this is something you've heard before! dog brains are fascinating.
This is so helpful! We are getting an aussie in fall 2022, and your tips are great. We are also looking for a rescue between now and then since we lost our dog dog cancer. We will definitely take these into consideration! ❤
Beautiful pup. We have a mini Aussie. I do similar to what you do. They are very routine pups. She’s my full time job. I would not trade ours for anything. Great job on your girl. ❤❤❤
Hi Marissa, thank you for doing these videos! I really appreciate them! I have a 4 month puppy who suffers from car anxiety and sickness, every time she gets in the car she immediately starts drooling, she has vomited every time and peed too! Even tough she obviously has potty breaks before. Ive tried everything... but can't seem to help her, what did you do with Freya? what was your approach? many thanks!
she's so smart!!! :') would you say the playpen is just as safe as the crate? my 10 wk old puppy sleeps in her crate at night but when i leave she stays in her pen so she has access to water/her toys. do you think thats okay or should i be more strict on crate training?
As she gets bigger it is not as safe as a crate because sooner or later she may be able to jump out or knock it over, but for now it is good because she's still smaller! I would recommend bring stricter on crate training for future purposes. the easier and faster you get it down as she's young it'll stick and be easier as she gets older. I also don't allow access to water when she's crated, especially at night, so she doesn't have to go potty all the time!
@@MyDriftingDesk thank you so much omg! she does good in the crate surprisingly so i think she will catch on quick if i make the transition :) i just need to work on leash training and i wanna know how to train her to go in between my legs like how freya does she’s amazing!
Suggestion: 💕Instead of giving treats/ raw items in her bed… you might try having her own rug. Our schnauzer knows “ get on your rug” for snacks and treats. ** just thinking that washing germs / crumbs would be easier it it were a rug and not a sleeping /resting place . 💕 She is beautiful and so smart!
she has about 5 beds in the house and that's specifically her food bed! so it's kinda like her rug lol. that's the one that she gets dirty and has treats on, but she doesn't sleep there :) ❤️
Your training of Freya is awesome. I have been following Zak George and some of Rachel Fusaro also because I am getting a puppy in a month. I can only dream that it will be as good as yours at 4 months. Did you make up your own hand signals or are they a standard? I would like to use some too and don't see Zak use a lot or maybe he does it very fast. I haven't seen that heel signal.
I binged allllll of their videos and they were SO helpful before getting Freya!!! 💛 I made up our own signals, there's really no right or wrong signals to use, but I noticed a lot of people use a fist for sit so I started there and all the other signals are just close enough to how I would normally ask her to do the trick so I use those!
What an amazing job! The only thing I would suggest is to not say "good paw" because it can become confusing after they have already done the command. Sticking to something neutral, as good boy works better!
My 15 week male Aussie is so energetic and still nips like crazy!! We have to entertain him the whole time he is awake!! I’m home all day and bring him outside for a walk every time he wakes up but he still has so much energy lol! Can’t wait till next week when he gets his final shots and we can take him to a dog park. Please do a video on how you stopped the biting of the ankles and puppy nipping! Thank you!!! She’s adorable!!❤️
your doing amazing with her!!! i have a 4 month border collie, and wow freya is sooo much calmer and bigger! I highly recommend getting a car crate, firstly it will keep her safe in a event of a accident, and as you mentioned her being anxious in the car having her in a crate is a great way to help her feel calm, it would also keep her from being able to climb around and try to get to you. I noticed her ear looks like its trying to stand i wonder if it will flop as she gets older! I've never seen a Aussie with pricked ears
thank you SO much! 🧡 We definitely want to, one just won't fit in my style of car at the moment, so we're waiting on my boyfriend to get a new car here soon and one will go into his car for her! It's starting to flop now, but still stands up every now and again hahaha, I think her ears grew faster than her body and she still needs to grow into them hahah
Random question, did having her potty spot on the balcony cause her to have more accidents inside the house? I only ask because my MIL had a doodle that had a balcony spot he could use whenever and still got regular walks. For whatever reason he never completely stopped peeing inside their house until they finally got rid of the grass patch on their balcony. Now were getting a puppy and want to make sure she can go immediately if need be. Because our living room of our condo is on the second story it can take a minute for us to get her downstairs and outside. If I put a patch on the balcony then she can go immediately, but then I'm afraid she'll be like my MIL dog and never be completely potty trained while that patch is on the patio
Of course every dog is different, but I think it HELPED my dog learn to be potty trained because she ONLY went potty on the "grass" and NEVER inside on pee pads or even something INSIDE. so inside was NEVER an option for her. it was ALWAYS outside. so I liked it and will train all my dogs this way!
yes we will be soon!! We haven't narrowed it down yet, but when we do I will definitely talk about it in a future vlog/video or even on her Instagram @freyathefloof_kittythekat if you wanted to see!
We will start doing that soon, we didn't before because she was already too nervous in the car and doing that made it worse, also she was SO bad at chewing her lead that she tried chewing through her seatbelt lol
You have done a fantastic job with her..I have a 3 month old Australian Shepherd..knows a few of these tricks but she jumps up alot! And dont want this to be a problem..any tips?
🫶🏼 thank you SO much omg! for jumping you gotta be strict with EVERYONE, when they jump turn around and don't look at them, no noises, no praise, no talking, no petting, NOTHING. when you walk in even, just ignore the dog until it sits calmy for you THEN you can love and pet and if they start jumping then turn around and ignore and repeat 1000000x and they'll get the hint that they only get love and pets when all 4 paws are on the ground.
Hi! Did you leave water at night in the crate when she was a puppy? or did you limit water intake? If so, how? Thank you im obsessed with your videos about freya!!
No! We still don’t keep water IN the crate (mainly for messes now lol but def for accidents when she was little) we would take water away about 1 hour before bedtime so we could avoid any accidents & TONS of water intake before bed!
Fenrir has some GREAT puppy training videos! We have watched them, Rachel Fusaro, and Zak's training videos the most and all of them have such helpful content!!!
Our Aussie is 4 months old and your monthly pupdates are so amazing! You’re doing so well with Freta! I try threshold training…but the only door she’s allowed in/out without having to sit and wait is going out to our upper deck because she can potty on her patch of grass or look out at people. Do you that is confusing?
I am getting ready to pick up my girl who will look crazy similar to Freya! I'm so glad I came across your videos, they are exactly what I need and very encouraging since this will be our first doggo! I'm curious how you handled biting/nipping? Can you tell me more about that please? Thanks again for sharing!
Aahhh how exciting!! I hope y’all have so much fun together 🥹🥰 Here’s what I did with Freya: whenever she would bite/nip us we would use our correction word, which is “ah-ah-ah” and if she stopped biting, even for a second, we would praise and give treats and continue play with her. If she didn't stop biting then we would offer her a toy to redirect her behavior to and if she took the toy instead of continuing to bite us, we would praise and give treats and continue to play. Sometimes (of course) she wouldn't stop biting even for a toy, and in that case we would stand up and physically remove ourselves from her. We would go behind our baby gate and turn our back to her and ignore her until she calmed down, laid down, or started playing with a toy on her own and when she did we one of those things we would praise and give treats and come back to play. It definitely was A LOT of standing up and leaving, sitting down, then standing right back up in the beginning (it’s exhausting and annoying). But you gotta be consistent and do it EVERY TIME for them to learn quicker! Don't do it sometimes and not others, or they’ll get confused on ~when~ it’s okay to bite, when it should be NEVER okay to bite. It definitely still took some time for her to learn this (it probably wasn't until 4 months old that she totally stopped) but it would DRASTICALLY decrease the amount of times she would bite us AND decrease the amount of time it took for us to get her to stop biting us when she did. It's also recognizing that biting is how dogs explore the world and with teething being painful, all they want to do is chomp lmao. So giving them toys of different textures, hardness, taste, size, etc. to spend time chewing is important! So definitely give your dog things they CAN chew and LOVE chewing. This is just how we taught her what she can and can’t chew on. I hope that's helpful!!! In the end, it honestly just takes time. It won't stop in a week, or probably even two. Once they lose their baby teeth those behaviors usually fall off, but being consistent will help this process go quicker! GOOD LUCK!
she does not (thank goodness) she is a barker when she's playing with other dogs, but thankfully not at home! we haven't really had to train her not to, she just isn't a barky dog. we lucked out!
I would love if you could make a training video! She is so Big now!!!!!!!!! Congratulations on having a little one being so well behaved. I have a 4 year old soon a 3 year old and a one year old dog I have 3 dogs 4,3,2 yr old so if you could make a dog training video I would be so grateful
I'm getting an aussie in a month. I also live with 4 other people and 3 dogs. I'm afraid mine won't be this well behaved as I'll be in school for 6-8 hours a day during the weekdays. How can I train it to look for my guideance while it is around other people and adult dogs that already live a certain way?
Well Aussies are REALLY smart so that probably plays a big hand in her training. It's why you need to keep them active cause if they get bored they get destructive.
I k ow I’m super late but I have 2 dogs right now and soon I’m getting an Aussie and I’m super exided we already have a name for him he’s named after steph curry… anyways I was wondering how you taught her all these tricks in just a few months my dogs are very well trained but mainly just commands lik sit stay down heel and place which means they go to their bed they each have a specific spot they go to… could you maybe tell me how you did it I need a bit of help… my two dogs right now are amazing with other dogs… my first dog is Lucy and she’s a beagle mix… and my second is Logan and he’s a black lab… thanks I love to see Freya grow up 🥰
I can definitely make a video on just this!! freya has her own channel now called Freya the Floof! ❤️ but she had about 5-6 training sessions everyday that lasted about 30 minutes each so we worked A LOT on commands ❤️
LOVE these kinds of videos! can you please make a vid on how you taught her to heel like that from the different positions you are standing in ? Thanks!!
I just recently found this channel and I love seeing your videos,I want a mini Australian Shepard so bad!! Also I have a video idea maybe you can make a video on how to train her all the tricks she knows so others can train there dogs the same tricks!! I would love for my Chihuahua to learn some of these!
I watched all your puppy videos and love them all. This is so helpful! I have a 4 months old puppy and a very similar set up with her crate and pen in our living room. When Freya was 4 months, she would basically have 3 naps/day of 2 hours each? I'm trying to figure out my puppy schedule, if I don't put her in her crate she doesn't sleep a lot during the day. Thank you for your amazing videos! Love your channel!
yeah, about there!! I would put her in the crate/play pen at different points of the day so make her nap hahah she had trouble napping on her own too, but by "training" in nap times since 8 weeks old, she got used to certain times of the day being "nap time" and it transferred over to help her put herself to sleep during the day and at night!! 💜
Here's what we did with Freya: whenever she would bite/nip us we would use our correction word, which is “ah-ah-ah” and if she stopped biting, even for a second, we would praise and give treats and continue play with her. That reminds me how my husky taught herself to ring the doorbell to be let in from the front yard. The look on visitors' faces when the doorbell would ring and we'd say, "That's just the dog."

eekkk 🧡
This is so helpful! We are getting an aussie in fall 2022, and your tips are great. We are also looking for a rescue between now and then since we lost our dog dog cancer. We will definitely take these into consideration! ❤
aww I love that 🧡
I have a 4 month old blue heeled cattle dog that’s out of control. Your videos have given me so much reassurance and have motivated me to keep going
KEEP GOING!!! It gets better. just stay consistent with boundaries and training and it WILL pay off!!
Beautiful pup. We have a mini Aussie. I do similar to what you do. They are very routine pups. She’s my full time job. I would not trade ours for anything. Great job on your girl. ❤❤❤
They really are full time jobs!!! But the best jobs!!! Thank you so much 🫶🏼🫶🏼
AMAZING FREN!!! Great job training mum! 🌞💛✨🤩
thank you SO much! 💛💛
My dog digs in puddles and holes too. She’s “hunting” something. 😂
hahah gotta love them
Hi Marissa, thank you for doing these videos!
I can definitely show how I did that one!! :)
at the dog park i love how like imature you were like laughing when she got you muddy
hahahha it was too funny not to laugh lol
Suggestion: 💕Instead of giving treats/ raw items in her bed… you might try having her own rug.
Our schnauzer knows “ get on your rug” for snacks and treats. ** just thinking that washing germs / crumbs would be easier it it were a rug and not a sleeping /resting place . 💕
She is beautiful and so smart!
she has about 5 beds in the house and that's specifically her food bed! so it's kinda like her rug lol. that's the one that she gets dirty and has treats on, but she doesn't sleep there :) ❤️
@@MyDriftingDesk
I’ve finally caught up on all the posts.. I just love your sweet pup and kitty. ( can’t wait for more) ❤️ hugs from Southern Indiana.
Sticking to something neutral, as good boy works better!
thank you so much! 💛
she’s so adorable
thanks so much! 🧡
never thought i would watch a 42 minute video until today. this was wonderful.
hahah I was shocked when it ended up being 42 minutes long too haha
Marissa you are sweetheart and I loved your channel girl because you are amazing vibe
thank you so much!
@@MyDriftingDesk of course you deserve a hug 🤗
can u pls make a video of how to train our dogs your tricks and the steps??
I loveeuu!! and I’ve watched this video maybe 3-4 times hahaha
I have TONS planned starting in June! :) 💛
Lol you introducing the vlog and talking about how your dog is 4 months old while also holding a "cat person" mug 😂
HAHAHA oops. I had kitty first 🧡
Marisaa this is amazing!! Please show us how you trained her to ask for permission to go through a door and not nipping!
I can definitely do that!! 💛
Yay more adorable, awesome puppy content!
Yay, thank you! 🧡
Omg freyaaaaaaaaaa she is the cutest xxxxxxxxxxxx
ahhh thank you!!
Love those hand signal. Go Freya! Go mom!
love love love the hand signals! 🧡

Can you please do a video of how you taught her all those tricks so amazing you are doing great!!!

She has gotten so big OMG 😮
RIGHT?!
So cute and that floopy ear's oohhhh
love love love her ears hahha 🧡
I really need to get better at doing hand signals with my puppy 😭😭 Freya is doing so well!
They are SO helpful!!!
I love her little flopy ears
they're my FAVVVVV lol
Thank you
My 15 week male Aussie is so energetic and still nips like crazy!!
I definitely can!! Freya was the SAME way until she was fully vaccinated! It gets better, I promise!! 💙
your doing amazing with her!!! i have a 4 month border collie, and wow freya is sooo much calmer and bigger!
We definitely want to, one just won't fit in my style of car at the moment, so we're waiting on my boyfriend to get a new car here soon and one will go into his car for her!
Of course every dog is different, but I think it HELPED my dog learn to be potty trained because she ONLY went potty on the "grass" and NEVER inside on pee pads or even something INSIDE. so inside was NEVER an option for her. it was ALWAYS outside. so I liked it and will train all my dogs this way!
ive NEEDED this! give little miss my love :)
Of course!! 🧡
Do you ever consider switching brands of food? If yes what are your considering?
yes we will be soon!! We haven't narrowed it down yet, but when we do I will definitely talk about it in a future vlog/video or even on her Instagram @freyathefloof_kittythekat if you wanted to see!
I really love your video! Is there a reason why you don't put a seatbelt on her? In case of an accident it could get very dangerouse for her and you.
You have really taught her right great job!
thank you so much! 💛💛
@@MyDriftingDesk thank you so much!
Omg Where did you get her!!❤️❤️✨✨🥺🥺
I linked our breeder in the description of our video of us getting her at 8 weeks! ua-cam.com/video/MqSbjYzeFR4/v-deo.html
What heel videos did you watch? I do want to take my puppy on a walk!
Fenrir has some GREAT puppy training videos! We have watched them, Rachel Fusaro, and Zak's training videos the most and all of them have such helpful content!!!
@@MyDriftingDesk thank you!
love how she kept the mud on her face to really show the struggles of being a pawrent 🤣
hahahah yup!
loved the video!! also can I just say Freya’s ears are ADORABLE omg
her ears are SOOO big ahahah
awwww freya is getting so big !!!!!
she's GIANT omg
Okay… WOW! She is so well trained that is unbelievable! What an amazing job 😩 Can you train my two extremely stubborn Shiba Inus please 😂
thank you SO much! 🧡 hahah Shiba's are a FUN one
I personally don't think so as long as it's the same door every time. the consistency is key!
Please do a video on separation anxiety idk if Freya has gone through that but my 6 month Aussie has a little bit and it gets a bit much
I touched on what we've done with it and what she's kinda been like with it in this video :) 🧡
I hope y’all have so much fun together 🥹🥰
Here’s what I did with Freya:
whenever she would bite/nip us we would use our correction word, which is “ah-ah-ah” and if she stopped biting, even for a second, we would praise and give treats and continue play with her.
GOOD LUCK!
Hey girl i have a question can you tell me if he shed's alot, cause i'm planning to get a dog, but i cant get one that sheds alot,
Aussies do shed a good bit because they are double coated! I have a friend that has one and there is typically hair everywhere lol
Aussie's do shed A LOT!! They have double coats and are constant shedders lol.
You are such a good owner and trainer well done!
❤️❤️ thank you so much
Thanks for replying
Mrs freya is becoming a big puppy
right?! she's getting so big omg
Love this! Does she bark at other dogs or when guests come over? How do you train her not to? Thanks so much!
she does not (thank goodness) she is a barker when she's playing with other dogs, but thankfully not at home! we haven't really had to train her not to, she just isn't a barky dog. we lucked out!
This video was so helpful with my Aussie pup
yay!! I'm so glad it was!! 💛
I can definitely make some more on certain topics!! 🧡
Pupdate! Pupdate! yay!
eekkk YAY! 🧡
@@MyDriftingDesk I'll prolly get ma own personal Aussie in Sept and have my private daily pupdates … I'M HYPED!! Still fallowing :D
It's why you need to keep them active cause if they get bored they get destructive.
oh of course :)
I would love to learn more about door etiquette and commands! Could you please post a video on FTF please?!
Also, puppy nipping and how to correct that.
FTF vids will def be coming back! ❤️
@@MyDriftingDesk I love that!! I follow both accounts! So I’m excited to see Freya back on your channel here too!
Is she your first dog? Where did you learn to train her (resources/ paid trainer?) Thank you 🙂
she is my first dog :) I purchased the Perfect Puppy Course from Fenrir to help train Freya and would 10/10 recommend! ❤️
Wow love the dog. Thankyou for shareing your video. Love thees kinds of dogs.👍🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂
❤️❤️ thank you SO much!!
LOVE these kinds of videos! can you please make a vid on how you taught her to heel like that from the different positions you are standing in ? Thanks!!
🧡 I can definitely touch more on heel!
I just recently found this channel and I love seeing your videos,I want a mini Australian Shepard so bad!! Also I have a video idea maybe you can make a video on how to train her all the tricks she knows so others can train there dogs the same tricks!! I would love for my Chihuahua to learn some of these!
omg YES!! Freya has her own channel now, called Freya the Floof! All of those videos will be over there!!! ❤️
How did you get her to stop puppy biting?? 💗
I can definitely touch on that in a future video! 🧡
@@MyDriftingDesk thank you 💗
I watched all your puppy videos and love them all.
@@MyDriftingDesk Thank you! This is very helpful! Freya is adorable

That reminds me how my husky taught herself to ring the doorbell to be let in from the front yard. The look on visitors' faces when the doorbell would ring and we'd say, "That's just the dog."
hahahah yesss!! I love that lol
