I'm in the same situation as you.
My printer was working well, until that day when I started to have that X-Axis issue.
I don't know for you, but I didn't do anything, touch anything, that could explain the issue... I haven't customized anything or haven't tried to update the firmware either.
Based on some advice I was given, I started some investigations and the only thing that came out is that the switch on the printing head (x-axis switch) is seen all the time as triggered, even if I don't push it manually. To diagnose it, I installed Pronterface on my computer and connected the printer to my PC using a USB cable. Then, once the connection was established, within the interface of the software, I sent the command M119, which gave me the state of the X-Axis switch...
If It's not pressed, and this is seen as triggered, then that means that there is an issue with it.
Before doing it, I would check manually that the x-axis switch isn't blocked by anything. Just try to press it and be sure to hear the little "click".
I also tested the cable (the continuity) that connects the motherboard to the head of the printer and from what I see that's fine... But that's something you can possibly do as well.
On my side, I also reached Creality's support, and they decided to send me a new X-Axis switch component... It should be there in around 10 days... We'll see if that solves the issue...
    Wish you the best :)

Same here, I had made other prints on the same day that had worked perfectly, but then randomly it started having this X axis issue. I've tested out the X axis switch similar to use and it seems to be working fine, but the printer isn't even trying to check the X axis, it checks the Y axis with a test when it does anything but not the X. I'm also working with Creality's support, let me know if the new switch helps

Sadly, it didn't! I've just replaced the component and tested it... I'm going back to their support... Knowing the quantity of components I tested, I think this might be a motherboard issue :(

And I'm pretty sure you have to home it first before doing the levelling process

Seems that the X motor is on reverse.
