- This is a tone review for my custom Fodera Emperor deluxe. All custom Fodera’s are made by order so tone will vary but I want to give you a general idea on how this bass sounds.

This is probably the best review I've seen regarding bass. Soooooo many folks out there either
1 - Use the microphone on their phone/ipad (for bass, seriously? what is even the point?)
2 - Non-stop slap fest and like to think it's a "review" (nope, it's just you showing off your chops)
3 - Do not use the EQ in a musical sense (they essential bring up each band in 1/4 increments rather than using them all in a musical setting)
Thank you for going through using the EQ in a number of musical styles. Great playing and great insight.
Thank you for this response!! I thought I was the only one that realize this regarding bass reviews on UA-cam land. I’m glad you found this useful! It’s not about me, it’s about the bass and what y’all want to hear!
And I know it's gonna be a lovely bass, a lovely bass lol- awesome vid again, and a stunner of a bass man!
Thanks man!!
Thanks , I SO needed this; you really explained how to use and set the Mike Pope preamp!
Thanks! I’m glad you found this helpful!
Nice work, Jason! And have a lovely day.
Thanks you too
Great review 👏 Keep on doing those!
Thanks, Elie!! I will 😀
Great review bro! My Custom Fodera Emperor 5 string is my #1 bass for life! Having those Duncan dual pickups with the coil tap is so clutch because you can get single coil Fender J or P bass tones that sound PERFECT for many styles. Duel coil mode you can get a more Smith type tone, but more open and dynamic than most hum buckers pickups Ive heard imo. The back pickup in dual coil mode can get a Warwick Thumb bass kinda vibe too. Pope's preamp is so musical and doesn't overly color things or get too boomy or harsh in any of the frequencies. It allows to alter your tone how you want, but still sound tight, and clear. What strings do you use on yours? Mine is dovetail neck joint too! I love that cause it allows easy access to the highest notes, and gives you the added sustain of the neck through, but the punch of the bolt on design. Great review again man!
Thanks man for the positive vibes! I’m using DR pure blues strings on my Fodera. IMO they’re comfortable and well balanced. My low B is .125 gauge. Yeah I have to agree that Mike pope preamp is wonderful. It’s very logical and not wasteful at all - it is extremely versatile and robust for any situation!
@@jcherrymusicworld That's awesome Dr Pure Blues are a great string for sure! Here's a track I collabed on with a friend where I use my Fodera for the bass line and I solo with it in the second half of the track!ua-cam.com/video/Vw-5dtl1s5M/v-deo.html
@@zechariahfrink3707 I took a listen...really nice work man!! Tone is on point!
@@jcherrymusicworld Thanks alot man! I appreciate you checking it out!!
Nice video man. I've always wanted a fodera!
Thanks man!!
Sounds incredible and great playing!
Thanks man!!
Hi Jason great vídeo and explanation. Hello from Brazil. One Bass you should also try is Pedulla.
Hey Paulo, thanks!! I got the chance to try a Pedulla in a guitar shop once. The one I tried had a narrow neck for my liking but I’m sure there may be others that are great out there. I would like try out other models. Thanks again!
Actually what Pedulla model would you recommend I try??
that's a really beautiful bass
Thanks 🙏🏿
That bass sounds incredible. I regret selling my Matt Garrison Imperial 4!
Man I can relate..There always feels like there’s something missing after while once the bass is gone. Thanks!
New subscriber, love your videos! Do you feel the need for a traditional Fender J or P since you have the Fodera? Great tone!
Thanks for subscribing!! Haha great question! You won’t believe how much back and worth I went through to figure out that answer. The answer is YES you will always need both a Fender P and J bass in your collection. The reason being is that many will come close to the fender sound but never exact. You will especially need a P or J bass for older styles of music (70s 80s). The Fodera is too clean for those styles. It really boils down to what music you play, but in general a Fender J or P will always remain relevant and essential. Thanks!
@@jcherrymusicworld Thanks! I have an Emperor Standard and just the Standard itself is a killer! Definitely looking to order a custom 6 in the future. 👊🏾
@@6strngbass cool man!! Fodera is high quality all around. Good luck on your build man!
Very nice bass really, & very nice demo very technical audio demo explanation, I love it the best demo I saw for this bass honestly, I am buying one this week, what type of strings are you using Fodera ? Which size , light or super light ?
Hi Amr, thanks for your feedback!
I’m using DR Pure Blues on the bass. I believe it’s medium gauge .125 low B. It feels great and well balanced. Congrats on your bass!
You think I buy it bolt on or Neck Thru Body ?
@@jcherrymusicworld thank you so much very nice sound, best regards
You prefer bolt on neck or neck thru body ?
@@amrsalahmahmoud3034 Amr, I prefer neck through for a nice low B sound and strong lows and highs. I prefer bolt-on for slapping style and quicker and sharper attack in sound. Those are my thoughts.
I can hear the Detroit in there !
Do you feel it’s worth the $$$$
That bass costs as much as my local music store.
THANK YOU
Nice but I still love smith lol
Lol I hear ya man
What’s the scale length
34” scale
At 20:00 autumn leaves?
It’s actually “All the things you are”. It’s starts off the same way as Autumn Leaves (6 2 5 1), which makes it hard to distinguish sometimes without the melody being played lol.
