Absolutely great video! Most how to or diy instructional videos good or bad are rushed and the instructions are poorly explained. Resulting in having to watch and find certain spots to understand how to execute the task or missing something completely. The convoluted information that has no relevance to the project and work and even at times they admit after a long winded pointless story. I felt comfortable and confident that I could execute this potentially dangerous job without problems. I have a recording studio and wanted to have independent circuits for powering equipment that have heavy pull and that are expensive. For such a small job it would suck to pay someone to come out and do it for me when it’s so easy. Also the peace of mind that I know it’s done right, won’t put my family in danger, or my equipment that took a lifetime to a lifetime to accumulate. I can tell you truly understand what your doing and others could learn a lot from how you teach. I have Great job and thank you.

I found that useful. Right to the point, with no muddied explanations. I think I would want to tie a yellow zip tie around all three wires as well to further remove confusion down the line to quickly identify them as coming from the same sheathed wire assembly. I see that both your ground and your neutral white wire went to the same bus bar. I like that SQ D simplification. I had just seen a diagram of a service panel with separate bus bars for the neutral, and others for the ground, but I believe that the bus bars were somehow bonded, or at least the diagram suggested it, giving it the same effect in essence, by providing them both a path to ground, but managing to make a mess of the wires with their design, and create a little confusion to boot. I much prefer Square D, but wonder if the extra expense for a QO is really justified over their Homeline.
That is not a square d certification, that is a faulty installation. The neutral and ground should not be bonded in a sub panel. They should only be bonded in the main distribution panel. If you do not understand what that means do not attempt.
With AC (alternating current ) I refer to (Watts law) Power (P)watts = Voltage x Current . Example of 120 VAC x 20 amps = 2400 Watts. Also I still refer to series and parallel circuits as Parallel Circuits voltage stays the same and current divides among the parallel branches. Also in series the voltage will divide and current remain the same. I hook up all the time the hot line to the circuit breaker and also run the hot line in series with a switch and keep the neutrals (commons) white wires together. That means to me that all the white lines ( common) end up on the neutral bar in the breaker box and that the individual circuit is always connected to a circuit breaker. Looking at the panel the neutral bus bar (white lines) never has a circuit breaker!
Craig, good presentation, however, at the beginning you gave permission to your students to poke their hands into an electrical box while looking the other way. Glad for you the panel was cold and your hand stopped where it did. A careless student might not be so lucky.
There can still be parts that are hot where the main breaker lugs are in a main residential panel unless you get the utility company out to pull their meter while you work on the panel.
Helpful for me, thank you. DO you have a video on how to pigtail wires in the electrical box? For example, if you run an 8 gauge for a tankless electric water heater and need to pigtail the 8 gauge ground wire due to lack of room on the buss bar? Keep up the good work!

I prefer the bolt on breakers, although Eaton breakers snap on more firmly on a GE panel than GE breakers
