Oh sorpresa!, Isabel King appears at 4:16 :)
Isabel charges!
wait was that really her
@@lupeocampo4546 Yeah it was her for sure. That's the kit she always wears and she rides the SF area often.
Just listened to her interview on the The Gravel Ride Pod 👍
So good! I’m taking the train up to SF from LA in October with my gravel bike in tow, so definitely using this video to help map out a ride while I’m there. Thanks for sharing✌️
I needed this so bad . After a long day at work , i wasn't able to make it back in time for my bike ride . So instead I tuned in to your channel and I saw this amazing video . Thanks man . I appreciate your content, and your creativity.
Thanks for helping me to appreciate what is in our back yard. The Headlands are a treasure and always a nice place to ride, plus the micro-climate is amazing too, (a land of eternal spring).
It can sometimes be absolutely terrifying at times to go against the cars in that tunnel. I had some very close calls that make either wait like you said or sometimes just do the road climb back up McCullough. That tunnel was super awesome for those few glorious months where cars were banned from the headlands.
Or ride tunnel at night when nobody is there!
I'm from Oakland and I'm barely getting into mtb or gravel (been on my road bike since 2011). Great commentary 👍 great video. Thanks for sharing
This is where i do all my running. I can smell it now just watching this video. Trails == home.
AWESOME video as always. Thanks for taking us with you. 🤟🏼
Should've hung out with Safa
safa was in the mountains like a wild goat
Great Loop love that downhill. I used to ride that spot often. Your timing with the weather is pro it's been killer in SF the last few days- Hope to ride with you some day in the future here in Northern California
I live in Oakland and have been around that side but never been on that trail towards the end. That looks awesome. My bike is single speed with only a front break so I’d need to change that but I gotta go on that last trail for sure
Nice loop TB thanks for taking us along 🙂✌🏻
Loved going through that tunnel at end 😀👍
Super videó,thanks Terry.
Nice video, great job. Thanks. SF is awesome. My second home
Hello the scenery is very beautiful, thank you my friend👍
Was that Isabel King you passed by at the bottom of that first descent? I recognised her orange kit right away, haha!
Haha 100% was
Yep! the orange plaid pattern on the bibs is signature 😂
This looks like such a fun place to ride
Thanks Terry! 🤙🏼🚴🏻♂️💨
Not waiting for the tunnel traffic to switch and getting buzzed head on by a FedEx van practically makes this a Hotline! Glad it flipped partway through so you could take the lane ahead of the cars back and zoom downhill as per standard procedure. 😅
Thanks for sharing!
5:55 I feel like there should be a shirt, sticker or something with a Cooper Ray bench.
love your videos bro
Zombie thread.. but at my advanced age I am considering trading my heavy suspension MTB for a gravel bike and the title showed on my feed.. This ride practically brought on tears of nostalgia, as I began riding out on the Headlands from my place in Noe Valley in…1977, on my Gitane 10 speed. I even broke the frame in those gravel fire roads. As another comment said, I can smell the fragrant air even today. Now I have to get back to SF and try this ride again!
Great view!
Love the video bro, what kind of equipment you filmin on?
Barentsen Baywatch took me there thanx !
Great video.
Where all the DFL riders would go preseason to get ready for CX, so to us it was SF's best cross cycling because a gravel bike was something the Flintstones would have had. (edit) Maybe after your last video readers of this comment will now know what DFL is, LOL.
hi there, what camera do you use? and how do you keep the chest mount that steady on the gravel?
this hub is sooo loud 🔥
Angle island is where the "escape from Alcatraz" dudes swam to....allegedly.
Quick question, clipless or pinned flats for gravel riding?
Got me wanting to make a gravel bike
Awesome 👌 Terry !! Have you been to Sydney
ive only ridden the parts of this that are pavement and really want to ride the gravel roads. should i be experienced before doing this gravel descent? where should i start?
I'm guessing you have a really good dead cat setup in your audio rig!
Amazing
That Orange...Must be none other than Iz King.
What phone holder do you use? Looking for one but i'm concerned about sturdiness, but this one seems to hold really well.
Quad lock...they are amazing with great after sales if you need it 🙂well worth the money 👍🏻
We need a Safa Hotline in SF
What kind of setup you riding?
nice ridee. curious what kind of phone mount I that?
www.quadlockcase.net/
What bike are you riding here?
I have a Specialized Diverge Comp E5 and I wonder how it would handle these trails. I haven't tried it on much off road and assume I probably need to deflate the tires (I typically just use it as a road bike).
A diverge will absolutely handle these trails
How is crashia? ;) And the pedestrian he crashed into?
What hub do you have? It sounds so sick!
DT Swiss 350 w/ upgraded ratchets
epic
The audio was dialed on this one.
Terry b tours
u coming over here n blowing up our shit mane
He ain't blown nuthin dawg.
is the same route from best geoff?
Very similar
How do you get your bike on plane. You should show us.
With a bike bag
Damn what kind of bike is he using to traverse on road and dirt so easily ?
He was riding a gravel bike. No 22 Drifter.
0:29 is that a real person?
How is cycling in SF like compared to NYC?
Better climbs, better mixed terrain. 1/10 for riding in traffic
@@TerryB can you elaborate? As in safer and less exciting? More dangerous? Just less cars?
Is this doable on a mountain bike?
yes
Hello
😻
Do you miss the bay at all Terry?
Always
Terry B is the fucking man. Hopefully I can meet him someday.
Longer lense
Rallye
Where is Jake Ricker?
Terry, just move out West already!
Lived there done that :)
It's a great ride until you ride back into the city and you think to yourself...... "I am paying how much to live here"?
'
You could've shouted earlier for the first couple to move aside
Or use a sweet Spurrcycle bell! (Made in Sausalito no less).
Wrong side the bridge Terry. That's why so many pedestrians.
Other side is only open during commuter hours
damn peds
They got you good
As stated in another comment already, if there are maintenence workers performing their endless bridge work, then as frequently as not, they will only allow foot and pedal traffic on one side.
Rode this today but on a hardtail mtb. The video doesn’t do the steepness of that back side of hawk hill justice. That shit gets steep and fast super quick. When I went down it today, I passed a car that had just pulled over to let the passenger out to puke. I guess her stomach couldn’t take that road. Is it rude that I laughed at her as I flew by? Strava says I hit 47mph, not bad on a mtb with beefy tires. Love that ride, took me a little over 2 hours but only cuz I stopped to smoke a joint and the bridge pedestrian traffic was a nightmare. That’s the worst part of that ride, crossing the bridge. Wish they’d keep the west side open to bikes only like they used to, I guess after 3 pm they open that side up. Sick ride man, thanks for reacquainting me with that loop.
They routinely work on one side and have to close to any foot or pedal traffic. Yes the bridge gets crowded sometimes but all the more reason to stop for a safety session and get stoned, (helps to enjoy the sport of people-watching). Great report from your mtb ride, btw. ALL bikes are fun in the Headlands!
So many pedestrians because you're on the pedestrian side of the bridge😄
Bike side closed at the time :)
Night time is so romantic to ride across the bridge ss it's closed to pedestrians but they always buzz riders through (we're too happy pedaling to consider suicide, etc).
@@TerryB yeah apparently it also closes at 8pm except for commuters. Found out the hard way the other day. Luckily they buzzed me across on the pedestrian side.
so at around 0:35 there's a guy holding a "slow"-shield.... uhm... why holding it up ;D just plug it somewhere, what a waste of a human ;D nice commitment anyways ;)
Dis Safa?

Correction: World's Best Graveling Cycling.
Noted
@@TerryB when are you headed to Vermont with your bikes? The gravel riding up there will blow your mind, especially if you go in the fall. If you're looking for places to ride mountain bikes, Kingdom Trails is worth a trip, Mad River Valley's Cranko De Mayo Gravel Grinder route has some of the most beautiful Class 4 roads around, and Ted King's Rooted Vermont gravel route is also a stunner. Regardless, it has been great to follow your content! I grew up in the Hudson Valley, so it's great to see someone else enjoying Harriman State Park by bike, and I also know SK (Ben) from Minneapolis; he's the real deal.
San Francisco's best gravel ride (not in San Francisco)
That’s a great title
love the content but cmon man another clickbait title where SF proper isnt even in the video. would love to see some footy from the city itself
LOL 😂
To a San Franciscan the title is legit. There and P-Loop is where the majority of all local cycling happens that isn't dodging cars parked in a bike lane, which is also glorious fun.
It's super legit title cos EVERY cyclist in SF goes to the headlands all the time. Come on man, it's a world next door, right across the bloody bridge.
Not cool FedEx 👎
You are In the wrong lane. The bike path on the golden gate is the side with view on the pacific.
Only during commute hours
