Damn, I remember dreaming about playing on these servers because I couldn’t have official MC (i played only on cracked). Cracked servers were so bad, lmao. And not anyone has an official MC in Russia, because our average salaries are 300-400$ (per month), and MC costs 20$

yeah i stopped playing once bedrock came as all the players on java moved there which left me with no one to play with. the player count on java remained at less than 2000 after that. I played for another year before i quit the server as there really wasnt anything left :(
I grew up on Bedrock so I played Hive Bedrock a lot when it came out (2018) and got Java in start of 2020 so I immediatly entered the Hive and played CAI. It was my favorite game but unfortunately it got removed so I hope they port it to Bedrock

I was staff on here for about two years back in 2015-2016! Each game mode had such unique communities; kind of like high school 'cliques'. I was a splegger :) Of course, the majority of reports came from survival games as there was a ridiculous amount of hackers there. I think by the time I retired I had 1.5k bans and over 2k mutes, not including the (often ignored) forums. It has been so long and even though it was one of the most drama-filled experiences of my life, it was an absolute blast. I miss it dearly
Thank you man, The Hive was my favorite place to be in the digital world. And I unfortunately didn't have the luxury to play anything since 2020. Now that I'm back into gaming in general I was sort of devastated to here the (very old) news about the server's status. Will never forget the good times I had there with the boys or cool strangers or on my own.
The server also had some of the most sensitive staff members. I got banned for 7 days because I was trolling a staff member. All I did was follow around a staff member in the lobby and standing in her face. She was just running around in circles not doing anything so I thought a little bit of trolling couldn't hurt, but for some reason that was harassment in her eyes. I was also recording so I made a post about it on Hypixel and everyone were laughing at the ridiculousness, even a staff member on Hypixel said you would never be banned for that on their server. Then the HiveMC staff saw my post and my ban was changed to a perm. It was worth it for a good laugh.
Just to make you happy, i know people who knows people that are devs and that are in fact developing a copy of hive. I can tell you they are working on bedwars and planning to add more gamemodes later. (deathrun hopefully) Which was unexpected as HiveMC devs said it is forbidden to use their maps.
@@Spxide bedrock's deathrun have NOTHING to do with Java's deathrun. The deathrun on Java server is just so good. The idea of 3 strafes and their direction is just genius, the maps are way more difficult, beautiful, funny. Bedrock's deathrun are kinda meh. Ok you may have 1 strafes per 15 seconds, but the game is just not as fun as before. Even talking about speedrunning, Java's map contains some gorgeus way to save time and really difficults strats: I feel in bedrock's deathrun you kinda just have to use the strafe as soon as you can and perform good jumps and that's all... I really hope those kind of deathrun (Java's ones) will remain alive, I love them too much
Facundoks actually everyone is not really on phones on the hive there match making so a phone player will match up with a phone Xbox with Xbox pc with pc ps5 with ps5 and etc so if your a phone player there will be phones on the hive but if not then there will be little phones
I’ve been distant with the server ever since they removed the absolute classic Indians vs cowboys, but I’ve been a player since 2013 and the memories there are pretty strong. Sad to see it go offline after all these years.
they probably removed it cuz of the name not being politically correct, makes me sad cuz back in 2015 and 16 me and my friend would call eachother after school and grind that game everyday :(
cool video, glad you enjoyed playing Shuffle as well. It's a really sad thing for the community to lose this mythical place that lasted for so many years... I grinded all the way up to #1 Shuffle just for it to close, but I believe that there are still some hopes as devs like me now started remaking Hive games on our own Hive may be gone soon, but the community and memories will remain for a long time
Hi! I'm also known as Anhrak, I was the first (officially-) recruited mod from TheHerobrine on August 2012, a few months before the merge. There's actually a couple of things you were missing or had incorrect; 1 - TheHerobrine wasn't just made by only Ed and Matt. Will (Ahnowisee) was also part of the brits trio, but a significant part of the work was also done by Dan (DCDJ), who did a lot of minigame work, music work, and one of his pet projects aimed to be released as their own hub before the offer for a merge with TiMV came. 2 - The Hive wasn't just a merge between THB and TiMV. There was a third party that actually was the initial primary host of HiveSG as you described later. Their name wasn't disclosed to us, but it was a very small team that likely was Youri's old team. This is the reason why as you described in 5:10 they were in the right to do so, as they were already the first creators; they simply merged into a new host and brand. 3 - BlockParty's music creator was not a hired artist. This was DCDJ, one of the og workers on TheHerobrine that sticked after the merge. BlockParty also was their actual 'pet project' game that I mentioned in point 1. 4 - There's actually a decent bit of in-house drama that you forgot from 2014, close after the first 2 waves of mod applications. It also is the reason why I quit in that same year, all that I'll explain below. During the Merge of THB, TiMV and survival games, several agreements and promises were made to keep everyone aboard the merge. Several moderators would function as Senior Moderators, and have their work be compensated with pay due to the expected additional workload they had to pull to keep things running. A few of those old faces would actually join the Admin team. I was one of those, and Ed gave me the personal green light that I would get behind the operating panel of the forums due to my experience running on YourBB. In addition to that, they would see if I could work by the side of TiMV's community manager; Neil. Over a year later and still none of that happened. All staff that were then and there, except the 6 owners/admins (Ed, Matt, Will, Youri, Neil and Dan) that came with the merge, nobody of the old TiMV or THB ranks joined their team, and none of the entire Mod Team, actually had their pay, despite the Hive's booming success in late 2013. With the first run of mod recruitment done... it also became suspiciously clear that Neil had a "biological preference" when it came down to recruiting new members. I don't think I need to spell out in 2023 what this means. I eventually quit to actually do get a paid position elsewhere in the minecraft minigame community, but the last news I picked up was that Neil's preference repeated in the second mod recruitment run, before he was pressed to quit for someone else to take the role as Community Manager. During Neil's 'swan song', he personally hit me up with the message that basically confirmed my thoughts before and as I quit; the staff did not intend to honor any of the promises towards the moderation team. Even Dan, the creator of Block Party, was out of luck and remained after as overglorified hired artist, until he and his girlfriend left the team.
Very sad to hear that The Hive closed. It was my go to server back when I played Minecraft in 2013-2015. It basically was my childhood. Survival games and Cowboys and Indians was my go to mini games. What made the closing even worse is that my friend and I decided to return to hive and try it, but closed the day before. Great video though and thanks for the memory lane trip haha. Would have loved to hear what happened to the owners, because Vareide, big Norwegian UA-camr, quit back in 2014 I think, quite early on. RIP Hive (our MC childhood)
I don't remember when I first played in TheHive, but I do know that it was one of the first-ever servers I've played on. I remember playing TheHerobrine, Hide & Seek, BlockParty, & Deathrun throughout the years. It's sad to see that the server I grew up playing on will be permanently shut down this year, but I look back fondly on all the people I've met & the experiences I've made.
hearing that hivemc was closing down genuinely broke my heart. i don’t have bedrock edition, so i’ll likely never play on the server again. it was my favourite server when i first started playing minecraft back in 2013. i would spend hundreds of hours playing the herobrine. it was, and still is my favourite mini game on all of minecraft. i really miss it
RIP I remember playing hide and seek on this server all day when I was little and then this year try harding treasure wars and survival games and skywars on the bedrock edition and making a whole competitive community.
Java multiplayer will never be the same without the hive, I’ll miss deathrun and splegg the most. Bedrock just isn’t as stable and the only way I can play it is on mobile which is too laggy.
I had spent HOURS on the OG servers, so much so that I had a little over 1mil points in Hide and Seek with every block unlocked. I also had a decent bit on Block Party, but Hide and Seek was my go-to (thanks to SkyDoesMinecraft). When I heard that the Java server was shutting down and they'd be solely using bedrock and that there was no game stats transfer, I completely gave up on Hive. I recently tried the bedrock server, and it just doesn't feel the same. It feels like I'm playing on Cocomelon: The Server.
I played on the server casually on and off since 2014, and while I found that towards the end the community felt pretty fractured and unwelcoming to new players, I'll always remember it for Hide and Seek and Cowboys and Indians and the hundreds of hours of fun I had on there.
BlockParty might've not been a very popular minigame, but it hosted one of the most tight-knit and friendly communities that I've had pleasure to be a part of. The game itself was quite simplistic and seemingly randomized by nature, but that only allowed pros to master and polish their strategies throughout the years of playing this game by manipulating odds and training their reflexes. It even spawned few exciting tournaments and clan wars throughout the time when HiveMC was at the peak of its popularity. DeathRun was a fantastic minigame, which I also enjoyed and played from time to time. It even got featured on the speedrun site, and was one of the most active games to speedrun at the time!!! I did some of the runs myself. It was very competitive, and I have very fond memories of that time.
Really sad I saw this video later, I was going to show my little sisters the Hive a few weeks ago and found out pretty recently it shut down. It's sad to see it gone, I played on there was back when I was about 15 (almost 21 now) and I remember the, I think Skywars server before entering the game had a hidden maze with a room/small bar underground where we'd all meet and talk. Hive practically raised me as a kid.
One remark, Bungeecord is not a plugin, and it does not enable multi world support. It does enable multi server support though (joining one server and being moved to different ones)
EnzoGB well it costs the hive more money to hold 1600 players on java but on bedrock 30-40k players (there average) it costs them less and there peak on bedrock was 53k players so bedrocks been popping off and there java one is dying and saying the java one which has less players cost more money to them and saying it’s dead it’s probably the right choice to go to bedrock fully and keep on increasing
After to closed in April 15th its sad to see it go Deathrun was a gamemode i played everyday even watched videos on it i kinda teared up when it shut down
Bungee cord is not a plugin. It is a proxy software. It also doesn't allow multiple works on a single server, it allows multiple servers on one IP or domain.
I remember Hive like it was yesterday. My favourite gamemodes were Gravity, Deathrun and the Lab. I started playing at around 2017. I never played stuff like Skywars because I was really bad at PvP. I was really suprised when they announced that they were shutting down. I mean look at mineplex. They have only half of the players compared to hive and they are still up to this day. I always thought that mineplex would be the one shutting down next. And I sadly think that they will be next.

Love your video but at 3:00 you got the definition of Bungeecord wrong, it isn't a plugin first of all, and it doesn't allow for multiple worlds in a server. It's a branch of spigot which acts as a proxy server to bridge the connection between other spigot servers, allowing for people to connect between those servers.
Yeah, was already yelled at for that :/ The point was that TIMV and THB could be combined into one network, I didn't really relay that the best I could.

I wanted to add, *Vareide* Is now one of the biggest norweigan youtube influencer starting with a channel him and his friend called @prebz og dennis where they did alot of mc playing, the channel has now been stopped and they have moved on, but dennis (aka) Vareide is still a big youtuber here in norway, plus i wanted to add that he was the one who made minecrafts official trailer:)

Wow, amazing timing, this video got in my recommendation the time I was playing hive. That's sad that hive is closing on Java. It has a lot of unique minigave. Such as Hide and Seek, my favourite one :(
Wow I played on the Hive since almost the first day in 2013 and to hear that it will shutdown hurts... I think a big reason for the loss of players are cheaters. Since 2016 I play Minecraft PvP games very rarely because of that reason.
This was the first server I ever played in Minecraft, I remember loving it so much between 2014-16. Cowboys and Indians, Blockparty, Death Run and Splegg were my favourite gamemodes. Especially cowboys and indians and death run, which sparked my love for PvP, which I still have to this day, and parkour, which I did for a while after. I started playing Hypixel more in 2016 and by 2017 it was my main server, not particularly by fault of the Hive. I think at that time my interest was geared more towards fast paced minigames, to which Hypixel had the upper hand with skywars, particularly ranked for me with its more competitive aspect. Still, the Hive was a great server, death run I think has to go down as my all time favourite gamemode on any server, it was so well implemented and unique to anything else I had ever seen. Shame to see it go on Java, but glad it still has success on bedrock.
hive bedrock has around 30k-50k players everyday. So its kinda understandable where they're coming from. Huge difference of Java having 8k and Bedrock having 40k members everyday

The very first server I played, after I got my Java account and was learning about all the things Java had that the console edition didn't! :)) My sister and I played the hide and seek gamemode, and explored the maps with our horrible FPS, realising that Java was a struggle to play compared to console for this reason.. RIP HiveMC :(

I don't remember when I first played in TheHive, but I do know that it was one of the first-ever servers I've played on. I remember playing TheHerobrine, Hide & Seek, BlockParty, & Deathrun throughout the years. It's sad to see that the server I grew up playing on will be permanently shut down this year, but I look back fondly on all the people I've met & the experiences I've made.

Hive was my childhood and I still play there and I love deathrun. I will miss Hive so so much
hearing that hivemc was closing down genuinely broke my heart. i don’t have bedrock edition, so i’ll likely never play on the server again. it was my favourite server when i first started playing minecraft back in 2013. i would spend hundreds of hours playing the herobrine. it was, and still is my favourite mini game on all of minecraft. i really miss it

Java multiplayer will never be the same without the hive, I’ll miss deathrun and splegg the most. Bedrock just isn’t as stable and the only way I can play it is on mobile which is too laggy.

I had spent HOURS on the OG servers, so much so that I had a little over 1mil points in Hide and Seek with every block unlocked. I also had a decent bit on Block Party, but Hide and Seek was my go-to (thanks to SkyDoesMinecraft). When I heard that the Java server was shutting down and they'd be solely using bedrock and that there was no game stats transfer, I completely gave up on Hive. I recently tried the bedrock server, and it just doesn't feel the same. It feels like I'm playing on Cocomelon: The Server.

I played on the server casually on and off since 2014, and while I found that towards the end the community felt pretty fractured and unwelcoming to new players, I'll always remember it for Hide and Seek and Cowboys and Indians and the hundreds of hours of fun I had on there.
BlockParty might've not been a very popular minigame, but it hosted one of the most tight-knit and friendly communities that I've had pleasure to be a part of. The game itself was quite simplistic and seemingly randomized by nature, but that only allowed pros to master and polish their strategies throughout the years of playing this game by manipulating odds and training their reflexes. It even spawned few exciting tournaments and clan wars throughout the time when HiveMC was at the peak of its popularity.
DeathRun was a fantastic minigame, which I also enjoyed and played from time to time. It even got featured on the speedrun site, and was one of the most active games to speedrun at the time!!! I did some of the runs myself. It was very competitive, and I have very fond memories of that time.
Really sad I saw this video later, I was going to show my little sisters the Hive a few weeks ago and found out pretty recently it shut down. It's sad to see it gone, I played on there was back when I was about 15 (almost 21 now) and I remember the, I think Skywars server before entering the game had a hidden maze with a room/small bar underground where we'd all meet and talk. Hive practically raised me as a kid.

One remark, Bungeecord is not a plugin, and it does not enable multi world support. It does enable multi server support though (joining one server and being moved to different ones)

EnzoGB well it costs the hive more money to hold 1600 players on java but on bedrock 30-40k players (there average) it costs them less and there peak on bedrock was 53k players so bedrocks been popping off and there java one is dying and saying the java one which has less players cost more money to them and saying it’s dead it’s probably the right choice to go to bedrock fully and keep on increasing
After to closed in April 15th its sad to see it go Deathrun was a gamemode i played everyday even watched videos on it i kinda teared up when it shut down
Bungee cord is not a plugin. It is a proxy software. It also doesn't allow multiple works on a single server, it allows multiple servers on one IP or domain.
I used to play on hive a lot but then i gave up just because of the toxic community and mods just not caring about hackers in games

what impresses me is that they somehow managed to make Splatoon in Minecraft
I remember Hive like it was yesterday. My favourite gamemodes were Gravity, Deathrun and the Lab. I started playing at around 2017. I never played stuff like Skywars because I was really bad at PvP. I was really suprised when they announced that they were shutting down. I mean look at mineplex. They have only half of the players compared to hive and they are still up to this day. I always thought that mineplex would be the one shutting down next. And I sadly think that they will be next.

Love your video but at 3:00 you got the definition of Bungeecord wrong, it isn't a plugin first of all, and it doesn't allow for multiple worlds in a server. It's a branch of spigot which acts as a proxy server to bridge the connection between other spigot servers, allowing for people to connect between those servers.

The point was that TIMV and THB could be combined into one network, I didn't really relay that the best I could.

I wanted to add, *Vareide* Is now one of the biggest norweigan youtube influencer starting with a channel him and his friend called @prebz og dennis where they did alot of mc playing, the channel has now been stopped and they have moved on, but dennis (aka) Vareide is still a big youtuber here in norway, plus i wanted to add that he was the one who made minecrafts official trailer:)

Yeah for sure, it's been a while since this video in particular but I believe it was through reading old forum posts about the drama, surfing through every announcement/news post on the hive website, going through all the archive.org saved pages for hivemc, and checking out a community-made staff history list that gave some dates/names for admins/mod applications/etc

As of now, TheHive is said to shut down in Java but I don’t know about Bedrock because that’s where most of the active players are.

Wow I played on the Hive since almost the first day in 2013 and to hear that it will shutdown hurts... I think a big reason for the loss of players are cheaters. Since 2016 I play Minecraft PvP games very rarely because of that reason.
I just started watching this video and i just wanna commrnt: he forgot about Bedrock Edition
This was the first server I ever played in Minecraft, I remember loving it so much between 2014-16. Cowboys and Indians, Blockparty, Death Run and Splegg were my favourite gamemodes. Especially cowboys and indians and death run, which sparked my love for PvP, which I still have to this day, and parkour, which I did for a while after. I started playing Hypixel more in 2016 and by 2017 it was my main server, not particularly by fault of the Hive. I think at that time my interest was geared more towards fast paced minigames, to which Hypixel had the upper hand with skywars, particularly ranked for me with its more competitive aspect. Still, the Hive was a great server, death run I think has to go down as my all time favourite gamemode on any server, it was so well implemented and unique to anything else I had ever seen. Shame to see it go on Java, but glad it still has success on bedrock.

hive bedrock has around 30k-50k players everyday. So its kinda understandable where they're coming from. Huge difference of Java having 8k and Bedrock having 40k members everyday

The very first server I played, after I got my Java account and was learning about all the things Java had that the console edition didn't! :)) My sister and I played the hide and seek gamemode, and explored the maps with our horrible FPS, realising that Java was a struggle to play compared to console for this reason..
