Don't get me wrong cause it is my favorite song but wouldn't it be better if you heard this song when you are riding back to camp in the mission Red Dead Redemption
HowVeryDeadly yeah, so many games make you right all the time, or perfect, when in reality people have flaws, it’s one of the few games you get an emotional connection not only to your character but the game itself since everyone has their flaws, and the game does punish you for being bad, which most don’t these days sadly.. last time a game made me feel relatively similar was undertale and even that wasn’t nearly to the same extent, likely due to flowey being a flower, not a human

Does the soundtrack changes depending on your honor? My first gameplay I had balanced honor and it played Cruel World. My lastest I had high honor and played Unshaken.
It's bittersweet and feels reminiscent, it really captures Arthur reflecting on his deeds, and if you get high honour then really it feels like him saying: "I did all I could, I think in the end it was all worth it, I can die without that regret- I wasn't a perfect person but at least I can die a good one." I also do get the sense that it is hopeful, when Arthur looks at the sunrise it's the end of his life, but it's also the beginning of John's new one. The only thing he can hope for then is that John uses the time he gave him wisely. Even after everything that happened that they both can move on in death as well as life.
To be fair, Arthur didn't want people to know he was sick. It took him until the half way point to even admit to himself that he might be sick. By the time he admitted to Charles he was dying, he was near the end. He also tells Mary-Beth that he's dying. The rest of the gang members, most notably Micah, learn that he is sick just not HOW sick. With the exception of Dutch, who at this point in the game is so paranoid that I think he refused to believe that he could lose Arthur. There's a few other NPCs that Arthur tells he is sick to. The doctor, the nun, and Agent Milton are the only people he directly tells he has TB to. (He might tell Strauss or Swanson, but I've yet to see it.) Thomas Downes hoped he would get the TB but dies before any confirmation but his wife and son find out later in the game. Rains Fall is also told that Arthur will die. While it's not confirmed as Arthur that Charlotte knows he is sick, if you go back to her as John she will say something along the lines that she knew he didn't have much longer to live. Mickey is another potential character to discover thar Arthur is dying. On multiple occasions, store owners and station clerks will ask if Arthur is okay and he will outright deny being sick to most of them. I believe he is honest to a few of the Valentine shop keeps however, specifically the general store owner. There might be a few I missed but the bottom line is that Arthur didn't really want most people, especially people in his gang to know he was sick. So he kept working. The people he did tell, with the exception of Agent Milton and the Valentine general store owner, are people that are either wise enough or kind enough to understand. The Downes family learn it by proxy.
There is also an age difference between them . Arthur is like 35-40 and Uncle is like 65-75. Arthur is younger and has more physical strength than our third favourite parasite called Uncle.
I didn't get to experience much of the game near the end. after I heard this song I knew that I was running out of time when he started coughing more. And when I discovered Arthur with his disease, it was like I myself figured out I had T.B. I was skidding through the story and trying to help everyone as much as I could, because it felt even like I was running out of time. I've never played such a game that put me in that position, or made me cry so hard near the end. And even after the end, this sadness that lingered kept eating away at me near the end. Like I lost someone important. I truly mean it, when I say that this was the best game I've ever played in my life.
CheeseOnMyPizza I had that EXACT same feeling after playing it, I felt empty and sorrow, as if a close friend or family member moved away, never to come back, nothing will ever be as amazing as the first play through, we all felt connected to Arthur because of his righteousness, but more importantly his humanity, makes me sad when I think back to it, this isn’t just a video game, it is an experience and driven, powerful story
Ikr I'm not a huge rockstar fanboy but this part of the game can really only be experienced once. Great atmosphere and really made me take stock of Arthur's adventure up to that point.
One of the most beautiful moments in Red Dead Redemption II was when they all went to save Jack from the Braithwaite lady, when they all rode their horses in a line next to each other with their guns out.
The actual last time the gang was actually whole and together. During a Shady Belle mission, I don’t remember which one, Dutch mentions that Micah is the only one with loyalty. Everyone started to doubt Dutch
That lonely ride back gave me chills I felt Arthur no game has EVER made me feel some kind of way. No other scene in gaming will probably never top this. Hats off to D'Angelo for his contribution one of my favorite artists bro you nailed it
My wife died of cancer. As things got worse and worse I was frantically trying to save her. When Arthur got TB it hit me hard, trying frantically trying to save him.
now this is something i shed tears for. rip your wife bro. she s in a better place now. hope you re doing well and continue to do so. best of luck to you edward.
She was coming right, the cancer was shrinking. The hospital messed up and killed her. Always be wary of trusting so called professionals. Plenty of Micahs in this world.
I’ve finished RDR2 a week ago for the first time. When Arthur said “Thank you” to his horse at the end, that’s when I and my gf started crying like a little babies, then with Micah appearance we were really angry, and the ending (the best one) made us cry again. Honestly, this game is one of the best things I’ve ever played/watched/heard, truly masterpiece.

I’m on my 3rd play thru of RDR2 and just looked this song up and to find out it’s from D’Angelo one of my favorite artists is just the cherry on top. I loved Brown Sugar one of the first albums I love every song on, this is mind blowing 🤯 ❤❤
@Guilherme Lopes I was gonna say, I'm not sure _anybody_ can relate to Niko lmao. Not even Serbians, they're like "what de fuck is this accent!? Why arent you just shooting than all!?" Then they hear him say he shouldnt drive drunk and they throw a chair through their wall in frustration, put on their best track suit, and shoot up the American Embassy for finally giving them a Serbian character that is horribly bad at being Serbian
This is why you love video games? You should check out books and movies, you’d probably like them too lol. I love this game too but I wouldn’t even call it that “fun”. I got so immersed I almost just felt the story. There’s games like rocket league and smash though that don’t have stories and can’t be replicated in other mediums so... yeah.
Arthur Morgan: But I still don't believe in nothing. Sister Calderón: Often, neither do I... but then I meet someone like you, and everything makes sense. Just finished the game. Never before felt such a connection with the characters.
ii Redz That revelation broke my heart when I was playing. Even though that’s how the story goes I wouldn’t want to be anywhere near Blackwater after everything that happened!
Arthur Morgan is one of the many handful amount of characters who remotely seem to care about his animal, the scene where he comforts his horse. Anytime you pet or brush your horse, he respects them and others. He respects every animal but man, Arthur Morgan is truly human.
Brown sugar, The Line, Africa, The Charade, 1000 deaths, with headphones are a must), me and those dreaming eyes of mine, jonz in my bonz, Devils pie, Send it On.... you got it so dig it!
"Arthur?" "My uncle's name was Arthur! Uncle Arthur we called him!" "On account of his name." "It's a fine name, a strong name. Like a *king.* " "You could be my king, mister Arthur. Yes, you could!" If you want to hear this, you could watch a video, or even better, find this homeless vet in Valentine during your time in Horseshoe Overlook. I was lucky enough to run into him in my game first time, and to get this route, make sure to visit him again after talking nicely to him. *GOOD HONOR ARTHUR IS CANON!*
@@tmills5608 (you might want to mark that as spoilers) That's what I did too! It's so sweet and heartbreaking at the same time. You can do the same thing with the legless veteran outside the general store in Rhodes and both of the conversations are very touching.
This is definitely R*'s strengths, these amazing scripted moments. Riding from Van Horn to Shady Belle with this playing, or riding down from Colter to Horseshoe overlook (right at the end of chapter 1). It helps that this game is absolutely gorgeous, but these moments are incredible.
Idk why but this song makes me sad and brave at the same time. You’ve been through so much and your about to break down, but yet you remain unshaken, still moving.
“He would come in here [Rockstar’s New York city office] and just play the game. We weren’t even talking about doing music,” Pavlovich says. “When D’Angelo comes through, he shows up at midnight, and he’s playing the game until four in the morning. Each time he was just like, "it’s incredible." D’Angelo’s enthusiasm emboldened Pavlovich to ask the singer if he was interested in contributing music to the game. End the rest is history...

Notice that everyone who died in the main story would have Arthur's back. Hosea, Lenny and the rest. Everyone who was alive except for John were having Dutch's back. They were greedy, too afraid to die. R.I.P The best ones [*].
Arthur morgan is the perfect example of a good man that got blind by complete loyalty and the desire of absolute comfort. There is not absolute comfort nor absolute loyalty in the world. The tragedy is that's he realised it too late. This game is a piece of art !!!
I am very very very late to the game (literally) but this is one of the most incredible songs I have ever heard. I never expected to feel such an emotional connection to a game character but RDR2 really smashes it out of the park and I felt a genuine sense of loss when Arthur died.
Me too. I used to play with my dad, we both really loved Arthur. He passed away last year, now the game lets me revisit some of our best memories. Miss you Papa.
I read somewhere from someone that they wish they could hit their head and forget this game so they could experience it for the first time again. I couldn’t agree more. Really it’s the small things you look back on wishing you could witness again. Such a good story.
I'm almost finished the campaign, 85% through. But I don't want it to end. RDR2 has been one of the best stories I've ever had the pleasure of experiencing. And this is coming from someone who hasn't played the first game yet. Rockstar have truly made something special.

RIP Arthur Morgan and our horses :/, played the whole game with the same horse. Such a great game, but the worst thing is that we all know what will happen with Jon and Abigail in the end of Red Dead 1, in the end Arthur did it for Jack, the only one that got away.
Jack Never escaped he turned into John by avenging a father that didn't want to be avenged, same as John did for Arthur, that's not what Arthur wanted.

“He who drinks from the deep waters: may he know the depths of the well” so good. Arthur could see the well was almost dry and soon his whole world would be gone, with him in it.
Arthur beat a man over a couple of bucks and in return was given a life sentence. But he used what little time he had left trying to fix the wrongs he made.
I actually didn't beat Mr Towns when I did that mission, just dragged him and let him go. I try to do everything peacefully when I played as Arthur lol.

Arthur is one of those rare characters from video games that make you feel for them and can relate to so much to, this is why i love video games.
Ah yes, It’s so relatable when you casually shoot up Strawberry, I do it everyday in real life.
When the TIME comes...YOU GOTTA RUN AND DON'T LOOK BACK
"This is over..."
And to think this was said in the very first trailer.
John did look back to kill micah... Resulting in Edgar Ross tracking him down and the events of RDR 1.

“He would come in here [Rockstar’s New York city office] and just play the game. We weren’t even talking about doing music,” Pavlovich says. “When D’Angelo comes through, he shows up at midnight, and he’s playing the game until four in the morning. Each time he was just like, "it’s incredible."
D’Angelo’s enthusiasm emboldened Pavlovich to ask the singer if he was interested in contributing music to the game. End the rest is history...
