  • the final installment of mounting a 12k winch to my car trailer.
faced up all the brackets and gussets, made my own spacers in place of washers and to also shim the winch plate.

You should take the spacers out on leading edge and used flat washers on wood surface be ok otherwise the edges of square tubing will dig in and sink in wood on hard pull but be ok as long as friction stays low like a vehicle that is rolling also the welds on front edge you just need to turn up weld when it balls up it’s to cold not much penetrating your doing good you have the ambition to try the things you don’t know much about and that’s key to becoming better at anything you set your mind too worked for me. I always had this mindset if I couldn’t do it right to not do it and anything I tried to do I kept at it until it was right. I set mine up on a Reese receiver where I could take winch off of trailer when not using it makes the winch more versatile and can slip into any hitch to pull from another angle and such you could also make some kind of cover on it to protect it from weather without it you won’t get much service life out of it the removable kind has made my winch last 20 plus years and counting and still looks new I also prefer the steel deck as the wood ones need new wood about every 7 years or so less if parked under certain trees something to think about I guess anyways liked the video it’s fun to watch projects and different perspectives on stuff and we should all help each other out it makes us all smarter and hungry to keep exploring how far we can go and how many problems we can solve is the essence of how this country was built

Thank you for that! Honestly! Thank you!
I thought about the flat washers and I had some but then I didn't have enough after swimming up the back side. I also have a piece of 1/4" plate that I should have cut down and used as a mounting plate. And I really appreciate the tips on the welds. And I will go back and re weld them with the juice turned up higher to get them penetrator better.
