    I have never been taught church history in any church I have been in Uruguay; I’m sure most Pastors don’t have any clue about it neither. I have a similar experience with History at school and high school- besides, most national history I learned was false. Now, I am homeschooling my child with SonLight curriculum (uses History-Bible-literature as it’s core) and it’s just unbelievable excellent. My child is in level B and she already know things I haven’t known till now (I am more than 40)! We are learning together and stoked in my a fire for learning more history and specially History related to the Bible (the program already does this connection all the time but for 2nd level). God has opened for me a new world of marvels! Thanks so much for these videos; they help me connects the dots in an amazing way.

      Here's a little more history:
      Amarna letters (14th century bc), cuneiform
      The letters show that Egypt held considerable power over these Canaanite kings. One letter written by a king of Babylon named "Burra-Buriyas" complains about the killing of Babylonian merchants in Canaan and reminds Egypt's pharaoh that "the land of Canaan is your land and its kings are your servants." Most letters were sent from rulers of city-states in Canaan, so Amarna letters reveal that Canaan was an Egyptian province that was closely controlled.
      In the bible, no Egyptians are reported outside the borders of Egypt and none are mentioned in any of the battles with Canaan. (Historical evidence refutes that) The princes of the Canaanite cities (described in the book of Joshua as powerful enemies)were, actually pathetically weak going by the Amarna letters.
      An Egyptian amulet bearing the name of the Egyptian ruler Thutmose III was found in Israel dating back around 1200 bc. Here are some sources: (Jerusalem Post, Biblical Archaeology Society, The times of Isreal, Breaking Isreal News, Isreal National News).There are many more ancient Egyptian artifacts in Israel.
      Asked how the Egyptian amulet could have reached so far as Jerusalem, Dr. Barkay told the City of David, “For more than 300 years, during the Late Bronze Age, Canaan and the city state of Jerusalem were under Egyptian dominion.”
      basalt stele( currently at the Israel Museum) excavated at Beth Shean( Northern Israel) depicts the victory of the pharaoh Seti I, who reasserted Egyptian rule over Canaan in the 13th century B.C.
      Also had the battle of Kadesh (1274 Bc) which a treaty was signed between the Egyptians and Hittites who lived in current Turkey. This proves Egypt again at this time, had full control of what is now Israel because they would of gone through Isreal. (Kadesh Treaty tablets are displayed in Istanbul Archeology Museum)

    I agree with him, i have a M.A in biblical archaeology as well a certified professional tour guide in Israel who often hear evangelical Christians get exited when something is found. I often tell them not to get so exited because archaeology can also disprove it and we have plenty archaeologists who do so.

    Great presentatIon. What are your thoughts on the dead sea scrolls? The book of Enoch especially.

    • @GoreBruce
      @GoreBruce  8 років тому +8

      +Bruce Waite Thanks for the feedback! The Dead Sea Scrolls have given very helpful insight into the general historical setting of the first century b.c. and later, and certainly served to confirm the historical reliability of the Hebrew texts of the Old Testament, especially the book of Isaiah. The Book of Enoch is great reading. I don't think it deserves canonicity, but gives very helpful insight into certain currents of Jewish thought in the same time-frame.

    Yep. Faith... To deny the Bible... (with my I.Q). having the dates and correlation will help us very much in our debates. Hit up Christians versus A - theists in paltalk if you ever have time. There are some fairly high calibre non-believers in there... which is actually a "belief" in and of itself.

    i just started this playlist. excited. learnt a lot from the other videos. i have one question, is Lucifer a king some historical context or is he as popularly known...the devil?

    • @GoreBruce
      @GoreBruce  8 років тому +1

      Lucifer literally means 'day star.' The word is used once in the Bible (Isa. 14:12). In Isaiah, the word is referring to the king of Babylon, predicting his fall. I am not aware of any historical ruler who actually took the name Lucifer. The tie to Satan has largely flowed from speculation that the description in Isaiah seems to refer to some kind of angelic being, but that is certainly demanded by the text. Thanks for your interest!

    A question Mr. Gore. The Amorites, in your book and video you call them Semitic. I found them in the lineage of Ham. Are they referred to a Semitic because they spoke in a Semitic tongue?
    PS Thanks for inspiring my studies.

    • @GoreBruce
      @GoreBruce  8 років тому +1

      +Iman Edwards You are quite correct. Genesis 10 ties the Amorites to the line of Ham. Sources I relied on used the term Amorite in a somewhat broader sense, to refer to a rather far-flung population that showed up in various places across the ancient near east, and thus the term seems to have had a somewhat generic application. Thanks for the feedback!
