You should see the absolute chain of breeding required to get Destiny Bond on Houndoom in Gen 7. Quilfish passed it to inkay who it then needs to pass it to Delibird who can then finally pass it to Houndour. Fish to squid to bird to dog
Snivy is the same way, but instead of TM, it's a tutor move! You have to teach a male Farfetch'd Twister (I did this in HGSS) and then send it up! 48 BP for such a trash move the baby won't even keep!
A lot of people don't know that egg moves used to have anatomical, real world, or lore references. For example, in Gen II, Phanpy could learn Water Gun via breeding. Totally useless on a Ground-type physical attacker, but it was a reference to how elephants spray water as a form of play and to refresh themselves in the heat.

The best addition in Sword and Shield is being able to leave two Pokemon in the daycare that are the same egg type, regardless of gender, and if one has an empty move slot via the move deleter and the other has an egg move that could be transferred, the Pokemon with an empty move slot will learn that move from the other Pokemon.

I remember randomly remembering that Lucario got it as an egg move and then wondering how it got the move since the only pokémon that learned it were Clefairy (Fairy) and Metang & Metagross (Mineral). And then realising that Smeargle was the answer and that you either had to face a Metang/Metagross in battle with the move or (the method I used) engage in a double battle with a Metang/Metagross of your own. I remember just going through with this process for the fun of it since I happened to have used a Metagross myself on my Ultra Sun team (their name is Trojan, they were a bitch to catch, as any Beldum would be, and I love them, as well as Metagross now, very much). It took me forever to find a female Lucario (SOS is fun 🙃), and the only double battle I could find in the postgame was with some Gamefreak characters in Akala Island(?), and then it took forever to figure out how to set the situation for Smeargle to Sketch off of Trojan in the battle. After all that, I finally had me a Meteor Mashing Riolu, who I competitively trained for the fun of it. He even has an adament nature!
Can we talk about the fact that All wild Mamoswine should canonically be the offspring of a Dunsparce. This is due to the fact that the only way for a wild Swinub to get Ancient Power is for it be passed on through breeding; And the only pokemon in the same egg group that can naturally learn the move through level up is Dunsparce. Seriously go double check, it's honestly hilarious!
No? Swinub evolves into Piloswine through level up and that learns Ancient Power naturally, which means it can then evolve into Mamoswine. No egg moves required.

Slight correction. Transferring from Gen 4 to Gen 5 isn't needed to get Dark Pulse on a Hydreigon as an Egg Move. Dark Pulse is a Tutor Move in B2/W2. Get 10 Blue Shards and go to the Move Tutor in Lentimas Town. Teach a Male Hydreigon Dark Pulse. Breed it with a Female Hydreigon. After hatching the Egg, you'll have a Lv. 1 Deino with Dark Pulse as an Egg Move.
There was also fact that in gen 4 games(and later ones too i think) pokemon could get tms as eggmoves too without the move being eggmove I remember having teddiursa from egg with shadow claw, earthquake, slash feint attack

I have a Gen 7 anime theory related to breeding. Remember the Stoutland who raised the Litten Ash eventually caught? I think the Stoutland is Litten’s biological father, not just his adoptive father. They are both in the “Field” egg group, and it’s the mother who passes on the species. The father passes the moves, which is reminiscent of how Stoutland is shown teaching Litten how to use Fire Fang and Fire Blast
the disgusting thing is ALL movesets are “temporarily” reset when sent to home and will “revert” back when on the gen games it was originally caught in… so any pokémon (smeargle) will forget moves it can’t normally level up learn… for example; on UsUm, i had a shiny female smeargle with the move set transform happy hour payday judgement and a 2nd shiny smeargle with the move set roar of time spacial rend judgement transform and when i sent them from bank to home they were reset to just having sketch as their only move available
I remember getting dark pulse kn my hydragon in Black 1...just required me to get soul silver, play long enough to unlock the safari zone...then play even longer to unlock the statues to unlock the zone where sevipers had a chance to spawn, then had to actually catch one in the safari zone, and breed it until I got a male, teach it dark pulse, then transfer it over to my black version, where I then spent about 100 hours just to get one with a modest nature and decent IVs, only to then get beat at locals by a 10 year old...
I have to do all that just for this *special attacking Dark type* to get one of the 2 special attacking Dark moves that more than 2 Pokemon can learn. And I just checked, it *still* cannot learn Dark Pulse by level up, it's not even a level one move. Dude doesn't even get Snarl.
So i think my favorite one has to be wooper's ice punch egg move, without having hands. How does game freak explain this till sword and shield? "So we gave him recover as an egg move so he grows hands temporarily"
Wait until he hears about Pokerogue Egg Moves. E.G. One of stantlers egg moves is Photon Geyser, Necrozma's Signature attack. And almost half of the pokemon you can start with know one of the let's go pikachu or eevee's signature move
