This came out when I was in middle school... Now I am 27 and I am truly remembering what it was like when I was young.... Thanks for the music and love guys.
Nostalgia is just like any other thing that's not directly productive to your life but it makes you feel good, it's good in moderation, it has it's time and place, but of course if you spend every day wishing it was like the past you might as well die lmao
This song has been stuck in my head the whole day and I needed to listen to it to get over it. "He doesn't look a thing like Jesus, but he talks like a gentleman," I kept singing that line. It is quite catchy.
Oh man, my high-school friends and I used to play this song in Rock Band all the time when we were young; I was always the singer. I haven't seen them in years ever since I became a shut-in, and singing this while locked in my room brings back so many better times and makes me tear up.
Dude same, I'm not a shut in, but I have significantly less friends now than in school, I was 12 when the original Rock Band and Guitar Hero 3 came out, and for a good while just about every day after school my friends would come over after school and we'd play Rock Band together or take turns playing Guitar Hero...it was always my house because I had a lot of the DLC lol It sucks that music games died (even though they're trying to bring it back with Rock Band 4 and Guitar Hero Live, it's definitely not the same now as it was in 2007) because that was a bunch of fun, me and my friends playing the games back in the day, occasionally some of my more musically inclined friends will come over to play Rock Band, but it's not the same haha back then EVERYBODY was playing and we always had a 4-player band, nowadays it's usually me and somebody else, or if we're lucky we'll max out around 3 people
when i listen to this song i cry.... it reminds me of those long drives when we were kids my dad just drove and drove just looking out of the window with out a care in the world. now all those days are gone ive got some mental illnesses and dad has not seen me for 8 years.
he has a different life and we have nothing in common he is the ragge chilling personae im the computer kid. he also smoked a lot of weed when i was a kid and im not sure if he has stopped. all i know is that he has a daughter age of 6/7 she was born a few weeks before i lost touch with my dad. i have a very low confidence and struggle to speak to people even family, teachers, doctors and i tend to only talk to people on the internet.
I discovered this song through Guitar Hero like 10 years ago, like many other gems. It literally changed my life. I owe so much to guitar hero developers for having open my ears to such amazing music.
If this song doesn't make you think about the 90's and all the nostalgic memories when you were young you're not human...one of the best songs of all time...hands down
I love this song so much and holds so many memories of me playing with my toys while my mom cleans the house and listens to the killers, the stokes, journey, blue October, and many other artists. This song will never get old.
My favorite part is 2:55 where it’s so climactic but it ends up being super chill but it still sounds so good. it’s hard to explain but it makes me happy listening to it.
+Jesse Galindo You can BE, DO or HAVE anything you want. You just have rules in the labyrinth of your mind that tells you, you can or can't have something. Get rid of those stupid rules and embrace your happiness and joy!
I have 2 memories associated with it 1, 10 months ago, I first heard this on the radio when I was bathing. 2. When I was 5, I saw my favorite cartoon, Robotboy for the very first time and it started airing the year before this sing came out and continued airing until 2 years after it was released
Me and my best friend use to sing to this song every night . It reminded us of old times , when we were kids and we would always hang out . Sadly he passed away a year ago . I play this everyday like he was still here .
I feel like this tells a beautiful story about a girl who spends her life dreaming of a man who's a beautiful saint like figure basically prince charming who would come and sweep her off her feet and she ends up falling for a man who's not perfect in looks or personality but loves her unconditionally and would do anything for her
I'm only 18 and this song can really make you feel so old (especially when you think back to the Guitar Hero 3 days) even though you really aren't. If I listen to this song ten years from now then I'd probably be thinking of the age I am now and think to myself "God do I miss those days of being a teen" and so on and so fourth. That seems to be how it works.
I was just reminiscing back in those days, wish I could go back when PlayStation 2 was the shit, now its ps4 & xbox1. miss the old days. We're only young once.
+TheBuddhistFist .... this is only the beginning buddy. lol im 22 and this happens to me a lot. take it like a man, and look forward to tomorrow. God Bless bro
I remember being 23 (a very "lost" time in my life) and feeling like that was old, as if I were running out of time. I thought that after 18, I was considered old. I would dismiss how often people told me, "you are so young!" Now I'm 28.... I realize how young 23 was. With 30 approaching me, I'm really feeling that "running out of time" feeling. And still people older than me say, "you are so young." I'm sure when I'm 35 I will look back on 28 and see this age as so young. Same when I turn 40 and look back on 35, etc. Moral of the story is to enjoy your youth while it's still here, and to really appreciate the present moment. I'll let myself sound old for a second and say: you're incredibly young. But so am I. Time and age is a construct, all that exists is now. Time to make the most of the time we have. We're only running out of the time we waste. If only I had not wasted so much time, thinking I was out of it.
This song was initially released when I was in high school and thought at the time it was about a woman learning to let go of her innocently unrealistic standards of love in favor of an imperfect but undying one. Even back then listening to it felt like getting hit by a nostalgia hammer. Now that's been over a decade and I've come to realize that the song is fundamentally about self-love and how to genuinely embrace yourself in spite of the mistakes and failures you might've committed in pursuit of a dream you might've even given up on because you learned it wasn't attainable and now the nostalgia hits like a fucking truck shaped like Mike Tyson's fists.
Damn, this brings back so many memories from late 2008 early 2009...this was me and my old best friend's favorite song...we first heard it on Guitar Hero xD. Now I'm in college. Damn, where did the time go...
Reminds me of days when I was a kid watching my mom over the balcony being genuinely happy. Guitar Hero was a massive influence in my household, I wish I could see that happiness in my mom again...
This song brings so many memories it makes me cry! I can remember being with my brothers in the basment playing this song on Guitar Hero 3 and being so happy, I haven't seen them in so long!
this song speaks to me so heavily, not of love, but of my depression, my tentative hope for love, but my anxiety, my sudden multitude of friendships, and the brightness i can see very faintly in my future. Who knows, i may get out of this, I may not
It's okay. She never loved you. Women don't have the ability to truly love a man. They love what a man can provide. Consider yourself lucky. You dodged a bullet.
This song really speaks to me, growing up in a strict religious house hold I've always wanted to feel free. Don't get me wrong I LOVE GOD but I've left my mormon church. I know that Brandon flowers is mormon. 2:08 really makes me feel sane
Listening to this song for the first time in years today, I downloaded it in the airport and listening to it as we took off, it just happened to be the first time I left the country by myself without anybody with me so I felt so free. Listening to this as we took off and looking down at all the terraced houses of Belfast, Sampson and Goliath and the Docks get further away, made me so emotional, no matter where I go in life I’ll never forget my city that I grew up in, when I was young
I loved this song when I was young. Now I'm 63 dying slowly of cancer. I got about 6 months doctors say. I feel so terrible I wish it would come sooner 😊. I'm not joking!!!
"And sometimes you close your eyes and see the place where you used to live , when you were Young" This song tell's so much about how being young is good.
I’m 16 as of 2019, and this song has always been with me, and I never knew it. I thought I only knew the line about Jesus, but that opening riff hit me in memories I didn’t know I had.
Anyone else looking back at this song as a Thirty Something year old adult, then feeling both amazed at the quality of music and also slightly melancholy because we are getting old now🤦🏼♀️😅🖤🔥
Bring back good memories of my friend when we played guitar hero. He moved away 6 years ago and I haven't seen him since. I love to relive those memories.
My mom tried to introduce me to these guys when this song first came out, and I was in a phase where I refused to like anything anyone else did. I told her I disliked it in a harsh way. She's gone now. I never got to tell her I actually like them...
+Limasvj More like barely listening. Only found out of this song in recent months. I've an acquaintance in a Killers tribute band. I attended a show, kind of to support them, and they performed this song. That's how I learned of it. I don't normally know, or like such new music.
Used to listen to The Killers all the time while riding public transit through downtown Seattle to get to UW! So much nostalgia! Beautiful place. Miss it.
When i hear this song i picture in my mind a girl sitting on a corner in a very crowded party, than a boy comes up to her and takes her for a dance. As the song goes they dance through the stages of life first the party than in a park having a good time and finally marrying. Then when the song says: `can we climb this mountain I don't know`, I imagen they having a baby all the difficulties in life not a lot of money but lots of happiness with their recent little boy, when the song slows down after: and sometimes you close your eyes , I picture the wife getting sick, and then dying the husband gets really sad and things about suicide for a few months, but then as the song starts to speed up again and the same part like the begining of the song is played:`You sit there in your heartache waiting on some beautiful boy to to save you from your old ways you play forgiveness watch it now here he comes` ,his little boy comes rushing into his arms and they play and the husband smiles for the first time in months. As they play through the stages of life the husband meets his son's girlfriend that will be his future wife, and then time passes and the husband dies leaving his son alone after that his little girl comes into the room and holds his arm and the circle continuous
+tecobel I really relate to what you are saying here. That is a rather good Interpretation of the songs "meaning" or "back story" I think that if I had not first heard this on the Smallville show, I probable would have thought of it as a even sadder song then I already do. I have a question though you may choose to not reply just think about it. Are you overlaying the song onto your own memories/Feelings?
This song reminds me of my first year in high school, I was having the time of my life hanging out with my best friend who I’ve known for years then one day he just stops talking to me and then I suddenly fell straight off the high horse I was on straight on my ass, and for a few weeks I felt like actual shit I basically just went to classes and got by and did nothing but wonder when things would fix themselves. And when this song talks about sitting in your heart ache and waiting on some beautiful boy to save you, it reminds me of how I thought that perfect solution would just come along and make my life magically fix itself, but I waited to long for that beautiful solution to come along I paid the consequences of that choice with a bit of dull look on life and some trust issues. But hey I’m living my life how I want to now do take this story as some advice kids if your ever in that situation where your stuck waiting for that one beautiful solution just to make all your problems disappear, don’t wait to long to catch that train just take your chances with what ever else
This song is so nostalgic for me. I can relate to it I worked in Vegas when I was young at Sams town as a cocktail waitress and I use to go sledding in mount Charleston. And working downtown Las Vegas and dressing up in costumes on Fremont street. What a wonderful time in Vegas. This songs is incredible the writing the music..it transports me to a great time in my life. Thank you killers you are an amazing band !
damn man dont get down on yourself. when i lived on island of Maui at 24 i read a book with a saying in hawaii their are no old people just wrinkly old kids. its the spirit of laughter that keeps us young.
*_Life as a child was perfect, children see the world better than adults, because they see it with an open mind._* After about the age of 10 things start to go downhill and your mind becomes barraged with BS. Well theres good news, the truth of life has been revealed. You can see life better than any child see's it now, you can see true life, you will see life like a child but you will have the maturity of an adult. ITs a win win, the difference between knowing and not knowing is checking. Google *_Truth contest_* and check out the top entry for yourself. Get back to the way you saw life with an open mind, get back to true life and see whats going on. Nothing could be more important or worthwhile.
Everything happens when you are young(childhood, adolescence), the hurricane, the love. Still happens as you get older, but somehow you feel it less intense and it probably gets lessen as time goes by, like number. Thats why every great man in history had big dreams as a child. So if you are young, stand up for yourself, dream big and of course, love. If you dont do it then, you may never do it.
thanks. Inspired by this song, and various rhythm games, I want to be in a rock band when I'm older. This is because A I feel something of a debt owed to rock music and B The music my peers listen to is generally shit.
Well, then grab your guitar and start practicing. Below are some music recommendations. Another cool kind of recent band is Audioslave too. My Chemical Romance although underrated had a kind of similar sound of Queen. Kings Of Leon are cool too. The Beatles are a great source of inspiration. And finally the old but great band The Velvet Underground. Good Luck!
Man, can't remember which Guitar Hero it was that I first heard this song on, but it's been like 10+ years. Hearing the lyrics now, "when you were young", hits hard haha! "When you close your eyes and see the place where you used to live." I do that all to often and think back to my parents place/home. I'm not sure 100% what the song was originally about, but it does make you think back on old times.
This song reminds me when I fell in love with a guy in California in 2006 when I visited to do modeling, then the horrible experiences I had in life as a result of moving there to chase him! We were so young and crushes and love was flowing freely everywhere
This song makes me so emotional. When i was young i loved sports now i can't do sport because i lost my legs. This song makes me sad because it reminds me that i can't do sports
I listen to this song because it takes me to a time where i had a certain someone that made me the happiest man alive. She’s no longer in my life. But i hope she’s happy and satisfied with life. She deserves it.
I hated this song for the longest time, my abusive father would make us play this and anytime we messed up, screaming would ensue and I hated this song. And now I love this song because my boyfriend loves this song and he brings so much joy and support to me and I do the same to him. I truly think he’s the one and I hope I’m right.
This always hits me heavy in the heart. My love of my life slipped away after high school. She had a child and she moved to Arkansas 2 years ago. We just got back in touch a month ago. She's been in and out of bad relationships and we often reminisce about the summer we spent together in 2008. I still carry her with me in my heart to this day and she might be moving back to my town. I'm hoping we can rekindle what we once had.
You sit there in your heartache Waiting on some beautiful boy to To save you from your old ways You play forgiveness Watch it now Here he comes He doesn't look a thing like Jesus But he talks like a gentleman Like you imagined When you were young Can we climb this mountain I don't know Higher now than ever before I know we can make it if we take it slow Let's take it easy Easy now Watch it go We're burning down the highway skyline On the back of a hurricane That started turning When you were young When you were young And sometimes you close your eyes And see the place where you used to live When you were young They say the devil's water It ain't so sweet You don't have to drink right now But you can dip your feet Every once in a little while You sit there in your heartache Waiting on some beautiful boy to To save you from your old ways You play forgiveness Watch it now Here he comes He doesn't look a thing like Jesus But he talks like a gentleman Like you imagined When you were young (talks like a gentleman) (like you imagined) When you were young I said he doesn't look a thing like Jesus He doesn't look a thing like Jesus But more than you'll ever know
10 years later and still goosebumps at that guitar solo.
Every. Single. Time.

It's okay. She never loved you. Women don't have the ability to truly love a man. They love what a man can provide. Consider yourself lucky. You dodged a bullet.
I remember my son with his guitar hero, he was 10 years old, now he is 20. Damn , I miss soooo much that hurts.
This song really speaks to me, growing up in a strict religious house hold I've always wanted to feel free. Don't get me wrong I LOVE GOD but I've left my mormon church. I know that Brandon flowers is mormon.
2:08 really makes me feel sane
2:25 - 2:40 Gives me goosebumps. Best part of the song.
Soccer Legend yesssss
Me too
Guitar hero 3 the best
YES IT IS💗💗
Nah 2:40 - 3:10
My taste in music was heavily influenced by guitar hero, lol
same here
True. Video games in general open people up to a variety of music that they probably never saw themselves getting into before.
Adrian Robinson it was because of GH3 that i got into Dragonforce
Adrian Robinson True. My life would have been totally different without Vice City and some other games like GH3, but mostly VC :)
Haha so true same here
Listening to this song for the first time in years today, I downloaded it in the airport and listening to it as we took off, it just happened to be the first time I left the country by myself without anybody with me so I felt so free. Listening to this as we took off and looking down at all the terraced houses of Belfast, Sampson and Goliath and the Docks get further away, made me so emotional, no matter where I go in life I’ll never forget my city that I grew up in, when I was young
and sometimes you close your eyes and see...... WW2 flashbacks
Fuck you sissy, we love 'em!
+TheUnited StatesMarines u just have to luv em
+TheUnited StatesMarines o shit I forgot. SIR YES SIR!!
Hahahahahaha, lmfao yes his is definitely music of WW2. 😂😂😂😂
you're never too young
Remember listening to this with my sister. Hanging out talking about the future. Love you sis
Just lost my grandma and haven’t seen her since I was 5 years old… this song makes me think about the last time I saw her
The memories... shit makes me feel like a way I can’t describe!!!
I loved this song when I was young. Now I'm 63 dying slowly of cancer. I got about 6 months doctors say. I feel so terrible I wish it would come sooner 😊.
I'm not joking!!!
I almost feel terrible saying I hope you’re still here
It’s a shame songs now a days aren’t half as good as the classic ones 😢
The Killers are one of the highlights of modern day music
"And sometimes you close your eyes and see the place where you used to live , when you were Young"
This song tell's so much about how being young is good.
Dinking to this till 2024
Don't dink and drive
I know this song for such a long time and it's still my very favorite song! A hymn!
I’m 16 as of 2019, and this song has always been with me, and I never knew it. I thought I only knew the line about Jesus, but that opening riff hit me in memories I didn’t know I had.
All of our hearts cry out for Jesus
best band of this age without question.
Every once in a little while....waiting on some beautiful boy to save you from your old ways...when you were young...
~>>thank u 4 sharing videos
i'm so glad they made the guitar hero games I probably would have never heard this song...now it's my ultimate favorite song :D
im right there with you! I sang my ass off while playing my ass off to this song XD
wasn't it in rock band?
671SANTOSKILLER yeah and guitar hero 3 :) Rock band was my favorite cause they had drums and a microphone

I’m young rn but it still gives me this weird, sad/happy, nostalgic, feeling.
Same
Yeah I'm 12
@@runawaysunitednation3510 damn I wish I was 12 again
I used to listen to this when I was little, I'm 15 now, feels crazy
same
I heard this song on a TV show like 10 years ago. Back when I only had like 20 random channels, no cable.
be happy,i had only 4(somedays 5)
This song gets sadder and sadder the older you get.
This song hits different when you're an adult 👌
This makes me remember when i was young and how much i loved my old house and my childhood.
this takes me back to those good old days when i used to play gh3
My mom tried to introduce me to these guys when this song first came out, and I was in a phase where I refused to like anything anyone else did. I told her I disliked it in a harsh way. She's gone now. I never got to tell her I actually like them...
2016 and i still listening :')
+Limasvj More like barely listening. Only found out of this song in recent months. I've an acquaintance in a Killers tribute band. I attended a show, kind of to support them, and they performed this song. That's how I learned of it. I don't normally know, or like such new music.
+Moonlight * Most new music stinks, but you can definitely find hidden gems!
mee
Yeah!
Limasvj 2017 ;))
Bro might want to check your grammer because I almost thought the dad was gonna marry his sons gf XD
tecobel I imagine a middle aged woman who, after a decade long marriage, realizes her husband is a lying, cheating fuck.
this is America bro they would've gotten a divorce
+tecobel
I really relate to what you are saying here.
It's 11:35 pm, I'm sitting in bed with no pants on and crying cause of this story
Having turned 50 I realized one immutable fact.......its a young persons world and time has past me by
Just enjoy what you can, don’t try to fit it if it’s not comfortable for you
damn man dont get down on yourself. when i lived on island of Maui at 24 i read a book with a saying in hawaii their are no old people just wrinkly old kids. its the spirit of laughter that keeps us young.
Truth be told I really enjoyed that site
Tao Ming My friend opened hiss mind once, It killed him.
HE DOESN'T LOOK A THING LIKE JESUS
Go back to when you were an impressionable youth so we can keep brainwashing you every Sunday. :D
Remus Aluthr Open mind doesn't mean believing everything is told to you.
I sang this wasted at the bar. Now 2 years sober from alcoholism. One of my favorite memories though. Sort of lol. God bless.
After reading that, I feel like I understand the song a thousand times more than I already did. Damn man, you make a good point.
Thanks. Glad you liked it.
Good Luck!
Actually, I'm a singer/drummer
This song used to play all the time when I was a kid it brings back so much memories
I’ve been listening to this song my whole life.
So for me it’s a nostalgic song about nostalgia.
This song gave me so much nostalgia.
This song makes me feel nostalgia like a bitch
foreals
Same here pal

This song makes me so emotional. When i was young i loved sports now i can't do sport because i lost my legs. This song makes me sad because it reminds me that i can't do sports

I listen to this song because it takes me to a time where i had a certain someone that made me the happiest man alive. She’s no longer in my life. But i hope she’s happy and satisfied with life. She deserves it.
I miss my youth....1980's

Pun intended?
I hated this song for the longest time, my abusive father would make us play this and anytime we messed up, screaming would ensue and I hated this song. And now I love this song because my boyfriend loves this song and he brings so much joy and support to me and I do the same to him. I truly think he’s the one and I hope I’m right.

uou!
This song takes me back.... I freaking love The Killers, lol.
You sit there in your heartache
Waiting on some beautiful boy to
To save you from your old ways
You play forgiveness
Watch it now
Here he comes
He doesn't look a thing like Jesus
But he talks like a gentleman
Like you imagined
When you were young
Can we climb this mountain
I don't know
Higher now than ever before
I know we can make it if we take it slow
Let's take it easy
Easy now
Watch it go
We're burning down the highway skyline
On the back of a hurricane
That started turning
When you were young
When you were young
And sometimes you close your eyes
And see the place where you used to live
When you were young
They say the devil's water
It ain't so sweet
You don't have to drink right now
But you can dip your feet
Every once in a little while
You sit there in your heartache
Waiting on some beautiful boy to
To save you from your old ways
You play forgiveness
Watch it now
Here he comes
He doesn't look a thing like Jesus
But he talks like a gentleman
Like you imagined
When you were young
(talks like a gentleman)
(like you imagined)
When you were young
I said he doesn't look a thing like Jesus
He doesn't look a thing like Jesus
But more than you'll ever know
