- Despite the cancellation of the traditional Match Day ceremony due to COVID-19 restrictions, soon-to-graduate medical students at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis found creative ways to celebrate the news virtually with their friends and family.

Even though Match Day went virtual this year, it still managed to be one of my happiest days ever. It's so fun to watch other people's reveals too!
They way they holler or cheer for their colleagues was just awesome, so heart-warming. I know this has nothing to do with me but I'm a 4th year med student, and somehow this video made me tear-up, grin and feel hopeful for the future. I wish you all the best, doctors! ❤

Guys calm down. A lot of health care workers are putting their life on the line now. My uncle recently passed away due to complications from Covid-19 as well. I don’t want to sound like an asshole but please avoid these celebrations right now or just keep them quiet. Pay respects to the heroes out there right now. The same heroes that you guys will replace in the future.
My sympathies for you and your family during this tough time. But please acknowledge that these people have worked for years for this moment. They have a right to be proud of their accomplishments. Sometimes the best thing we can do in times of trouble is find a reason to smile. And these folks have, so let them.
We should be celebrating the fact that these bright people are still excited and willing to go into the field even in this scary climate. They’re not disrespecting the current health care workers by any means!
Years ago something very sad had happened in my state, and we were all shaken up. A very kind professor walked into our classroom with a smile. When asked how he could still maintain his grace when something so bad had happened, he said, "At any given moment, there are good things and bad things in the world. You have to choose which one to focus on."
Terrible things are happening right now, and they've happened directly to you. Understandably, that's the only thing you can focus on. It must hurt to watch celebrations, so If I were you, I'd pass them by. But for some people, seeing that life goes on is a lifeline. Nobody thinks it's "normal." Nobody is forgetting what's going on. I don't know anybody in the video, but their well-earned joy makes me both happy and hopeful.
My condolences to you and your family. But asking these individuals to keep down their celebration after years and years of hardwork just seems so unfair. They deserve to celebrate this moment and they're no way in shape or form disrespecting anyone.
@@emiliaclare8830 I guess it's just difficult to watch. Health care workers right now putting their life on the line to save ICU patients. Anyways I'm happy for them and their achievement!
