The only reason Fred/Daphne became a thing because the writers of Where Are You find it hard and hated writing for Daphne and Fred. Its actually why everytime they split up its always Shaggy, Velma and Scooby because they are the comedy trio and easier to write unlike the boring Daphne and Fred.
